Far Cry 2

Just completed it, Good game.
However they could of done more with the story in such a politically fuelled invioronment, most of the missions are...destroy this....kill him....destroy this...

I only got the game in the mail today....first time using Play.com its probably going to be the last aswell

Think this is brilliant. Loads of little quality touches. Like all the flash fires. Was camped out on a hillside waiting for a convoy, fired a rocket into it and started sniping but it got a bit troubling. Spun around to find cover only to find I'd set the whole landscape behind me on fire with the backblast from the rocket launcher :D

Then another time I'd just blown up a checkpoint and set it on fire with Molotov's. Anyway the fire spread to the ammo depot which went of with bullets flying everywhere :D Almost fecking killed me as well

Little things like having dig bullets out yourself and unjam weapons, how you throw yourself between the drivers seat and machine gun in the jeeps is all good to see

Gunplay is very satisfying too, something that was lacking in Crysis anyway. It's great when you shoot someone but they don't die, they just try picking themselves up as best they can and throw themselves into the nearest cover. Really well animated, and the weapons are very satisfying too. Love the Dragunov  The sound is also brilliant, from the voice acting to the death screams, to when you're driving over wooden bridges or through water

And the graphics are superb, and it's not even that demanding. Can run it on max settings very comfortably

I like all the console FPS touches as well, the stats. Good to see wildlife as well. Was bombing through some woods in the rain, checking out my map and I accidentally ran over a family of deer

Annoying how fast the enemy can drive though. You can't just bomb through checkpoints because after a few seconds they'll have someone on you bumper firing a machine gun into the back of your head.

Anyway, not even 10% through it yet but I reckon this is the best game since Stalker. If only Stalker had this engine and Farcry2 had that concept

Got this a week or so ago but last night was the first time I've got to open it.

Loving it so far. Explosions are amazing. I had a jeep speeding towards me with an angry man shooting at me, I'd got a safe distance away because I knew they were coming, pulled out a grenade launcher I'd picked up, *click click*, fecking thing jammed and I've got this jeep getting closer and closer to me at 100 fecking miles an hour. Then when it was about 15 meters away I finally unjam my weapon, take aim and shoot a grenade right uner the right wheel just as it reaches me. The jeep flipped and did a barrel roll right over my head. Amazing fun. I keep walking around with my map out trying to find things when I'll look up and see a random enemy walking a few feet away through the bush. Sniper rifles are the nuts.

The checkpoint thing is annoying but you can just scout them and that means you have more stuff to blow up.

Finally got a good go at this last night and really enjoying it.

I love the open world fact(yes i know this isn't for everyone) as its great for planning your attack....Some areas i might just like to get myself a bit of a birds eye view and snipe most of em out.

A really cool bit was when i parked about 200 hundred yards from a checkpoint i needed to get through....I decided to plant an explosive in the jeep i was using then gunned it for the checkpoint...when i reched top speed i jumped out of the jeep and waited until it rolled into the checkpoint then BOOM! hehe that also started a brush fire which combined created havoc...then i just found myself a tree to hide behind and picked off the survivors with the rifle hehe

Its not for everyone though.....if you don't have a vehicle all the time the travelling towards your objectives can take a while....plus the AI ain't that great.

Overall i love it though, especially when you get to turn everything up it does look pretty good(not Crysis good though then again it isn't as demanding)
