basketball is so boring. can't really stand it.

Michael Jordan was the only thing I ever liked about basketball.

now lets get back to the most inportant and only reason I had for starting this thread...the importance of the fact that college football season is only about 8-9 weeks away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hurrah.

ahhhh...Koufax...clearly the man. and a Jew...the best pitcher of all time.

one of my close friends who was a die har dodger fan and hated the cardinals at the peak of their rivalry back in the 80s he hated St Louis pitcher Joaquin Andujar so much and referred to him only and always as "Walking Underwear."
Sandy was amazing - him and Dandy Don Drysdale were maybe the best one-two punch a pitching rotation ever had. RIP DD :(

That's funny - America has a wankfest with St. Louis: "Ohhhh...the best and most knowledgable and loyal fans in all of Baseball!" and I cannot stand those bunch of cnuts, stemming directly from the 80s, as well. Jack fecking Clark and Tommy letting Niedenfeur pitch to him with 1st base open - I ran home from fecking school that afternoon (easily 2 miles - I was 9) just fast enough to stumble in and see Clark park one into the Pavillion seats. I was fecking crushed. I hated Vince Coleman, I hated Willie McGee, I hated John Tudor (we traded for that ballbag and he faked an arm injury and did nothing for us), I hated Tommy Herr, I hated Whitey Herzog, I hated the fecking Anheiser-Busch Clydsdales, I hated all of them. THEN...we go and hire Jack fecking Clark as our hitting coach a couple of seasons ago. He almost ruined Adrian Beltre's career (great move leaving, Ade) and presided over one of the worst offensive Dodgers clubs there has ever been. Luckily, he had a serious motorcycle accident during his second season with us and was subsequently fired for being terrible and for being an ex-Cardinal/Giant cnut.

Can you tell I'm still bothered by all of this? Thank Christ for Gibby and '88. One of the highlights of my life!

still remember that Jack Clark dinger like it was yesterday....trotting in a weird arc from the plate to first.

strange, i always liked the dodgers from afar, probably because of my family members from Brooklyn who loved them...

never had anything against them , even when we played in the series...

I always liked the look of Chavez Ravine, especially in day games, liked the little blue gated fences along the outfield wall by the foul poles...liked the low field level club seats behind the screen behind the plate.

hated Ron Cey, hated Davey Lopes, liked Garvey, Liked Yeager, liked Baker.

I take extreme pleasure in knowing that - no matter how weird/bad this season has gotten after our great start - you lot are royally fcuked. Worst club in the Majors, by far...and Juan Marichal is scum of the highest order. We love Jeff Kent, btw - gonna be the NL All-Star 2nd baseman, in case you hadn't heard.

Here's hoping that Alou and Sabean finish off what the Earthquake/Fire of 1906 started

Your Cardinals stuff is absolutely exactly how I felt/feel about them. When they signed McGuire it was all the confirmation I needed in my suspicion that McGuire was a cnut. Now he's a steriod-wracked DD breasted cnut.

The Gibson moment, however, was a bit traumatising, as I was laughing at my dad for them playing a cripple, and he does That. I only made up for it when, a few years later, he was doing his "turn out the lights, the party's over" song as Sid Bream crossed the plate. :)

Wasn't it B. Bonds who couldn't throw out that broken down mule Sid Bream from deep short? I believe he two-hopped it from there :D

St. Louis Cardinals = Scum
SF Giants = Scum
Anaheim Angels = Scum

I have a begrudging respect for the Yankees, as they're the Rolls Royce of MLB, but I still can't really stand them.

The Braves and the Cubs I always kind of dug - with TBS and WGN on TV...there was always baseball on TV before the Dodgers games. Nice memories. Dale Murphy, Glenn Hubbard, Kent Oberkfel, Leon Durham, Ryne Sandberg, Skip and Harry Caray - good times.

Don't remember if it was Bonds, but boy did I hate that fecker. Him and Bobby Bo, the 'killer b's'. I was overjoyed when he went to the Giants, because he was very close to coming to Atlanta.

I can't even bear a grudging respect for the Yankees.

The Dodgers, other than in 1991 and 1992, I have no problem with except when I can needle my father.

he does plenty of SC games as well....I used to think he was absolutely awesome, then an acquaintance of mine who was a big fan of his as well, worked for abc sports on the college football shows and travelled with him and the crew and Bob Griese...turns out Keith is a vigorus and blatant anti-semite, often to my friend directly without even knowing that the guy was jewish. My friend quit at the end of his first season with them because he was so disgusted by it.

I have never felt the same about Keith Jackson since I found out about it in the summer of 94. Still a great announcer, but not much of a human being. Like his friend Bear Bryant, he probably hated black people too, till he found out they could play football.

WTF?!? Really? Ack - what a cretin! Damn it...it's always the good ones that are fecking bigoted mooks. Shit, he's talented...but that's terrible. Hate having to hear anyone have to put up with crap like that, esp. when it comes from someone you might revere or have a built-in respect for.

I'm a Giants fan who doesn't particulary like Barry Bonds. I suspect that there is a lot us in that boat. But I'm a fan, nonetheless. :) SBC Park is indeed gorgeous, and the fans who go there are (for the most part) more polite than those who go to Dodger Stadium. Bunch of jerks there, for the most part.

I had an awful experience there last season (right after I moved to LA) and I don't want to go back.

Hey, give me an NFL team to gloryhunt. Is there any team that plays well but always loses? I want to be able to say "We fecking outplayed them" (or any Yank equivalent) after losing 50-0.

Agree 100%

The Raider Fan Scum that used to thug around in Silver & Black has decided to start wearing Dodger Blue the past few years. The place has been a nightmare of drunk, violent, belligerent twats who only go looking to cause trouble and act like pricks in the medium range to low-range priced seats (that's where the likes of you and I sit, I imagine). I had almost stopped going really, apart from every Opening Day. Couple of weeks ago, the new ownership finally listened to the fans pleas at the dodgers.com message board about lax security and ushers who act disinterested. They went out and arranged with LAPD to have patrols cruise the parking lots looking for tail-gaters and troublemakers, and to have off-duty Cops working the entrances/exits and walking the concourses/pavillions between innings.

It's helped immensely in changing the atmosphere of the stadium. I've actually gone 2 times already since the announced change and have noticed the difference...and I'm going again this Monday night.

FFS...a Giants fan was murdered in the parking lot a couple of seasons ago by two Dodgers "fans." We had had enough then. Sorry to hear your experience was crap. Normally, we like to have opposing fans in for some good-natured banter and it's a great place to watch a game, otherwise.

I completely expected some good-natured ribbing. It's part of the package, going to support the Giants in Dodger Stadium. Heck, I'll give as good as I get. But the abuse we had to deal with was ridiculous -- I'd actually call it assault without the battery; and security/ushers didn't do anything about it. It was a complete waste. We paid face value (bought them from a woman on our softball team) including parking for decent seats on the 3rd base side pretty much even with the bag, in the second deck, for the Giants game -- last series of the season before playoffs. Glad to hear that LAPD is there now, hopefully they can do some good.

The future of the program, apparently. We'll be OK in the recruiting department. Eric Bienemy is our recruiting coordinator and he's focusing on competing against SC @ places like Poly, Crenshaw, and Mater Dei.

Hinds & E. Wright both looking for a way out...but SC won't grant their releases. That's small-time. They're just kids who want to go someplace else. Heard about that?

Hinds I agree with, but Eazy E with 175 Exstacy pills...he really brought alot of heat down on the program...totally stupid. ;)

UCLA already gets plenty of kids from Poly, Dominguez etc...SC has always had the lock on the best kids from out of there though...even DeSean Jackson from LB Poly last year preferred Cal to UCLA...I was shocked we didn't get him though TBH...but he saw he could get substantial playing time at Cal this year wheras he would have been behind or competing with Smith Jarrett Lewis and Turner etc at SC.

we will get Allen Bradford, Stafon Johnson, David Ausberry, Alan Parsons...
we might get C.J. Gable, Jonas Mouton, Konrad Reuland, Darian Hagan Jr. (though Bienimy's Colorado connection to Hagan's dad could work for UCLA.)

If we offer them, we will get Jovon Hayes and Rodney Glass.

I think overall thought it's a weak year for Cali...

Weak year nationally, if ratings are to be believed. I doubt that.

Cali is slim pickings, though. You'll get the cream and we'll get the crop, per usual. Good thing they play the games anyway, eh?

Cue Marcello scrambling through his monitor to choke the life out of you for saying that. The only thing to come out of Texas are steers and queers, unfortunately.

(Hope MrM has horns :D )

Recruiting's a laugh. You never can tell which way it's gonna go. The usual hotbeds will do their part...it's the elites out of the not-so-hotbeds that sometimes can change a class and a program.

They won the College World Series tonight, actually. But that's College Baseball.

PING!

Football? Errr...without googling...I believe 60s/70s with Daryl Royale (sp?) as head ball coach. Mack Brown is a joke. How he keeps that job is beyond me.

God knows...I expect it won't be much longer though if he doesn't win an NC soon...he's had the talent, except recently, alot of the top texas talent has headed north to soonerville.

this could be the year they beat oklahoma...but probably not...again.

They're going on about a decade of "this could be the year we beat OU..."

BTW, our jason is making a splash over on Red Ish, taking on resident "Top FCUM Red" Big Bird. He's made quite a showing - proud of him (even if I don't exactly see eye to eye with him on the FCUM/MUFC thing).
