Someone here was saying Sheffield United will play a high line... Can't remember who but I'm sure I read it, which is what convinced me to go for him over Luiz.

But regardless, on paper, was a fine decision. But in reality... feck me what a bust that was.

Should've stuck with my gut and gone Bailey or matched up my rival with Luiz. Silly decision that might well cost me my mini league. Don't think he had a sniff all day but strangely fancy him more against Newcastle next week.

Relying on West Ham to save my gw now. Fml

59 with nipples left then. 20% green arrow, could've been better but still a pretty good week.

On to the cup with one finger on the WC button ready to go.

A guy who barely scores playing for a team like Wolves.
How the hell did that develop into such a ferocious must have bandwagon.

Have to laugh at this game.

Mainly due to this being a blank and there not being many other options, plus the money fixture being right there. If someone like Spurs were on everyone would have gone Son or Maddison and we'd have never heard about this guy existing.

Still good fixtures to come though so play him till the next WC and get something outta it.

You're the only person I've heard thinking about WC this week, besides me. Care to share your thoughts on why?

It's an option only based on there being cup upsets and if I am not prepared for teams that get knocked out. For example if we have Liverpool and man United playing in 29 I don't have any players from them right now so I can WC now and set myself up both for the dgw28 and bgw29. And possibly also BB in 28.

But as of now I'm not committed to any chip strategy and say if we get arsenal Chelsea in 29 instead then I can just carry on and wc in 31.

No thoughts for now till fixtures are confirmed. There is a good chance last two days before next deadline are chaotic, exactly what happened last season as well and trigerred mass WCs.

Thanks. I am thinking a little differently. I am thinking that too much is being made of 29. Let's say worst case things stand (no upsets) and it's the full blank. What's the best FH team? Say something like, Flekken - Villa and Brentford DEF - Bowen, Son, Maddison, Richarlison, Luiz, Bailey MF and Watkins and Toney up front. If you have say, only 7 of those 11. Those 3 matches have to absolutely bang to punish you.

On the other hand, if I go now for the Haaland, Son, Salah, Saka, Solanke, Watkins WC, I am going to bang on both sides of 29.

Yeah, quality over quantity for sure. I was even okay to play 10 in this GW if I had to take a hit to field 11 because the mid options weren't inspiring. I used a free transfer but otherwise you can not field 11 if it's a shit blank as long as you have the main hitters. But even then you will need to use transfers on the like of Toney, Bowen etc who you might not have in your team before and after. So there can still be merit in that FH is you completely ignore those players before and after that week.
Anyway now we're right at the GW where we will get the info for the blank so no point planning anything before Thursday.

Agreed, but there's another factor in this, IMO, which are price rises/falls. If you play your cards right, you can end up with a team very few can afford. This is my bread and butter. I've been waiting all season to capitalize on protecting and building team value.

Speaking of which Solanke is due to rise tonight. Darwin to Solanke a no brainer?

Salah appears to be out for longer. He should take his time

It's slightly worrying that they can have Allison, TAA, Matip, a bunch of centre mids, Nunez, Salah and Jota out and still beat Chelsea.
Really need City or Arsenal standing firm here.

Expecting price changes midweek after FA cup games? Will make those changes after FA cup as no FH for 29 and need a decent 8-9 player team….

Another tiny green arrow. Need to make a bit bigger steps to get where I want, but it is what it is.
Sticking with the plan to not use any chips before GW 30/31 earliest, so hoping for no big upsets in the cup ties this week.
Made an early move from KDB to Son this GW to avoid the price drop (I have cover if some non season ending should happen between now and the deadline).

Team right now:

Pickford (Kaminski)
Burn, Doughty, Reguilon (Porro, Estupinan)
Son, Foden, Saka, Rich (Garnacho)
Haaland (C), Watkins, Solanke

1FT & 3,5M ITB

There's unfortunately no way around the Haaland armband this GW (3 goals and 2 assists in 1 game against us at the Etihad - we should be their dream opponent right now) the potential upside is too big.

Will move Estu on before the deadline.
Moreno, Cash, Pau, Coufal or another good pick with a game in 29.

Thoughts?

Difference being he wasn't coming back from a long injury back then and was finishing his chances. The misses in the last few games plus the comments from pep make this situation a bit different while there is the best attacker from the best attack and the monster goal machine in the league playing relegation candidates.

Surely he’s the best captaincy option for coming GW - playing against a weekend team with no midfield and defense and at home

Used the FT I saved to get Gabriel in. Have another one and could grab Luiz for Palmer.

Holding fire on everything for now until after the FA Cup, working towards GW 29.

Didn't plan things out too well at all I'm afraid. Only 3 guaranteed starters for that week so far and I've already used WC for the recent Liverpool/City double GW which didn't go great. TAA, Jota and Nunez injuries, none of the City boys really firing.

Thinking I might have to free hit in 29, and really key in on building my squad towards the later doubles and blanks. Without taking hits I can only get to 6 players for 29 as things stand.

Who knows what the FA Cup will bring though! Would need a miracle for my 3 City assets to be playing in 29, but I'm definitely a Leeds fan this week v Chelsea in the cup. Would free up Saliba, Gabriel, Saka and Palmer for Arsenal v Chelsea if Chelsea crash out. Leeds on a roll in the Championship and Chelsea are shit so there's a chance there. Shame it's not at Elland Road.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who gets irrationally irritated by this  it's like calling us 'Manchester'.

I'm the same!

Saw someone saying that people used to call Sheffield Wednesday 'Sheffield' when they were more relevant and Sheffield United weren't and now it's ok to do the reverse. I don't remember that at all, always given them both their full title or Sheff Wed/ Sheff Utd for shorthand when typing it.

Don't get me started on Bristol City being called 'Bristol'. Neither Bristol club is that big so they don't even have that argument.

Why would you go Palmer to Luiz now?
Luiz is still a 25 year old DM with avg numbers who scored 20% of his career goals in his last 3 games (usually not good FPL-pickaxe) Too kneejerky. Both on pens, but Palmer with twice the underlying numbers. At least wait and see if Chelsea beat Leeds in the FA cup first.

Could also be for Gordon because as shit as Chelsea are, Newcastle are particularly bad away to London teams.

I'll also need to bench someone for 28, so getting a cheap 'replacement' might work well.
