I just checked my FPL in the hope that I dreamt about putting Digne in my team and it's not real.

Nope. Didn't dream it. Digne is in my team.

Logged back out

Got Chillwell, Martinelli, Saka and Maddison and only 1FT, and no bench options.

Need some good news tomorrow or going to be torn between a -4 and just pulling the wildcard.

I just don't feel ready for the wildcard yet, I want at least a couple more weeks to know how I feel about Liverpool attack and Newcastle defence before fully committing.

Saka hasn't trained yet and Saliba also has a knock so is a doubt.

I'm down to my bare bones, question marks on the fitness of Saliba, Botman, Lockyer, Saka and Maddison. I already transferred out Chilwell earlier in the week too.

Not seen any talk about it on here yet but Crellin suggests there's a very good chance the postponed City v Brentford fixture in GW18 will move into GW20 now that they are both out the EFL Cup.

This would give City a DGW of Brentford (H) and Sheffield United (H). Brentford have Palace away in their other fixture that week so not great for them.

Surely no better opportunity than that week to TC Haaland this season?

If this comes to pass I'll be benching 3 x City in GW18. Not sure about bringing in any Brentford at all. Flekken might get a few save points I guess.

Chilwell out for a month.
Never ever again.

Yep. Thank God I got rid of him on Sunday. So cathartic. 1 point from 3 games for me (against Forest, Bournemouth and Villa). Blocked 14 points from my bench in the last 2 games as well. cnut and on the banned list permanently now.

Uh oh is there any concrete news? If Saliba is out as well I'm down to 10 players in

Same, just no Lockyer but two other flagged players. My bench is really terrible. Guess we gotta pull the WC trigger?

Latest wildcard, with emphasis on wild chances taken in defence. Attack is where the magic happens.

Turner/Areola (rotating)
Reguilon - Tarkowski - Bell - Taylor - Lamptey (last 3 rotating)
Salah - Bruno - Maddison - Son - Chukwuemeka
Watkins - Darwin - Haaland

Not sure if I'll do this, but I have a hard time believing in defenders anyways. It's obviously shit with bench-players, but high risk/high reward/high loss I guess.

The attack is obviously good, but the defence will be very puzzling. First two games are good for Reguilon and Tarkowski, so I would then have 2 free transfers to plaster up the defence

Edit: Just took a look at my 3-man defence the last 6 gws and the total scores were: 7-7-4-20-17 and then one gw with a backfour was 10 pts. On average that is 10.8 pts for my defence.
This one might get 3-4 pts on average, so the attack should in theory make up for 7 points for this to be viable :nervous:

Edit 2: Actually when looking at FFScout's projections my defence should get around 16.6+17.8+14,9=8,21 pts. I might only be 2,5 points worse off in theory with this cheapskate defence.

Very bad defence.

That defence is beyond awful and trust me you'll want to wildcard out of it again in a few weeks. There will be weeks where you will not get 11 players on the pitch especially if you (for some reason) keep an injured Chelsea mid on your bench.

Watkins is not on pens for Villa any more so the most obvious and easy improvement to make is to turn Chuk into Diaby and use the extra £1m+ to improve that defence.

I'm willing to take a gamble and leave as is, taking a -4 hit at most. Botman, Saka and Saliba haven't been definitely ruled out, waiting on the Spurs press conference for Maddison too.

I don't think any of the injuries are long term either, which makes me want to wait on the WC as I'm relatively happy with my team if they are all back next week.

Well everyone says that until half their squad is injured. :smirk:
Don't think the template is hit too much so far. Jackson and Chilwell were already sold by most once they got benched or were shit for weeks. It's just Saka really as a big name who may be out and the good thing is that this is a DGW and most people started with a Burnley or Luton defender who can come in if say Saliba is out so most should be able to manage with one hit max.

Also not really understanding the hate for defenders. My two biggest hauls this season have come from Cash (17pts) and Trippier (18pts).

Cash played out of position, no? Trippier's was probably an anomality, because when looking at his xG all season (and just by looking at him playing) he's been very off compared to his usual self.

I have Botman, Chilwell, Saka and Maddison flagged but expecting at least two of them to feature so I'd only need to bring Udogie and Beyer in, not that terrible.

I don't even mind going a week or two with just 9-10 active players, messing around with the squad is not worth it for what could potentially end up being 4-5 extra points.

Botman and Madders are fine I think. If you have to sell Saka and Chilwell in a worst case scenario can be done without a WC easily.

But actually when looking at projected xG this defence only gives me 2.5 points less the next 6 gws than the defence I had the last 6. It's a bit crazy to me too and maybe it should really be compared to alternative defences in gw7-12 but still. I could of course also just see how it fares in the next two where it should be quite alright for, and then use my 2 transfers to re-arrange if it's completely shit.

And good point on Watkins. The penalties is a shame, but I'm just not sure which forward I'd want instead. Watkins fixtures are great and I rather not rely too much on Højlund/United as I only see him score max 1 goal a game and we're out of form.

I don’t think Arsenal would have had a training session since their midweek game? Should have one today

Trippier got 8 the week before and has had tough fixtures so far. He was a continuous bps magnet last season so I don't think it's fair to say last week was an anomaly. He will probably haul again now that Newcastle have a nice run.

Yeah the forwards aren't great which is why I'd prefer Diaby + Archer to Chuk + Watkins. The first pair is cheaper, nailed and not injured.

I said last season Arteta is a one-game-a-week fraud and now all their best players are injured a week after I used my WC. Le sigh

Trippier's definitely the best defender for the next 6 gws too if you can afford him.

Yeah the thing about my wildcard strategy is that it's easier to have an expensive player like Watkins/Bruno/Maddison and then downgrade if they don't fire.

Chukwuemeka is only out for 1 week more, so I'd say he's not my biggest concern. However he might only play 1 in 2 games or less so I could have crazy weeks where none of my bench plays which is kinda risky. He costs 4.3, so that's basically why he's in it, to allow the rest of the team to function. I might miss Newcastle defence though.

Chilwell I'll definitely sell next week, I already used my transfer this week and would rather just play Udogie/Beyer than take a hit. Beyer will probably score a fluke goal and get maximum bonus points if I put him on my bench. Think I'm actually going to start him anyway, Chilwell or not.

Think I'm going to do:
Chillwell > Trippier
Saka/Martinelli > Bowen

I have to do the second transfer (-4) to do the first, but given the injuries and lack of a bench I think it's a sensible hit to take.

Would be nice to get some training pictures or something to know if one of Martinelli and Saka trained.
