Fantasy Premier League 21/22

Building a team with Bruno is tricky.

I am only happy if I put Welbeck in and I am also not happy having him that much. Cause if he is shit or gets injured which striker to buy for 6.0?

I probably have to do Bruno to Sancho/Son and get in DCL for the money or something like that.

A midfielder in the price range of 5.5-6.5 is much valuable and will provide more points than a striker worth 5.5-6.5. There aren’t any good strikers in that price range except Toney. So go with an extra midfielder rather than starting Welbeck.

Yeah the problem is a 4.5 mid is better than a 4.5 or 5.0 forward.

I am not a fan of wasting a spot with a guy not playing.

Nacho plus Welbeck vs Toney plus Barnes is an option though. If Barnes start I might go with the second. I quite like Barnes.

I think Wood and Barnes from Burley but they score like once in 3-4 games. It’s annoying. If I’m only going to get 2 points consistently I might as well have a 4.5 player who plays often.

'Barnes from Leicester ;). Should have said that.

Thus 3-5-2 vs 3-4-3, but I go fairly strong on def for potential rotation.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure Wood is going to the Olympics, "woodn't" get him in at the start of the season & for 7.0m there are better options in a similar price range.

Barnes could be a decent shout if you only have 5.5m to spend. However, with strikers there are so many better options this year (if you can manage to adjust rest of team).

Wood scored 2 goals in the Olympics, but I think New Zeeland might go out early.
Thus he could be back.

Richarlison I think might miss the start potentially.

I currently have Saint-Maximin as a 6.5 striker, but could upgrade Gilmour to Raphina, Harrision, Saka or Smith-Rowe if I drop Saint-Maximin to a 4,5 striker to sit on my bench.

There are so many in that 5.5-6.5 range: Buendia, Cantwell, Mbeumo, Harrison, Soucek, Saka, Raphinha, Bowen, Trincao, Sarr, Smith Rowe etc. all these are better than a 5.5 striker.

It’s better to switch to a 4.5 striker and make him sit on the bench. That way you can upgrade Gilmour to one of the above and play them every week.

Managed to get in Trent. Had to sacrifice Sancho.

PROS :

That’s some midfield?!
Defence is ok (as long as those three are playing)

CONS :

Attack is 6/10 (maybe 7)
Subs are dross so when your first XI is out of form, injured, not playing, you’ve got nothing to bring in

(3 United players is fine as we’re going to win the league and score bucket loads)

(Ps. Sounds like you want Trent)
I like this team. Mainly because it's similar to mine! Although I have TAA but no Grealish.

That's a very well rounded team. You're only issue would be the bench. Hopefully you won't need them.
Meh. It’s easier to go from a premium to mid price rather than the other way around. So worst case I take a -4 hit and switch out two players.

So regarding Bruno AND Salah.

You'd like him for captain in Gw3 and gw4 - that's about it. Why not just swap Salah for Bruno in this short period?

Current squad: Main reasons are versatility

Sanchez
Robertson - Trent - Shaw - Cancelo
Salah - Mahrez - Havertz
Watkins - Toney - Cavani

I feel Havertz is the best pun for GW1 as they host palace with a homecrowd that will be ecstatic from winning CL, and I'd like to see how Sancho starts out before moving there.

Anyways, Mahrez and Havertz can become KdB og Fernandes, or I can move in many ways with this i.e bring in Buendia for Havertz in round 2 and prepare to bring in Kane if he gets to City. Kane is also gettable by going Cavani+Mahrez/Havertz to Kane+4.5 or 5.0. Also tempted to bring in Henderson (5.0) after the Varane news.

Cavani, Mahrez and Cancelo aren’t guaranteed to start every game. Also the switches you are talking about is harder to do unless you’re using a wildcard. It ll take less move to move from a premium player to lower priced player rather than the other way around.

I do think they are very nailed for the first month. Cancelo a Pep favorite and no euros, same with Mahrez, little competition for RW and then Cavani who will have a weeks rest pr game for the first month with no CL.

So for a start they all seem fine. The team will eventually change, so having value tied up in these 3 is fine as they in total are decent to switch to others.

Very very similar to my own. I have Buendia and Bowen where you have Grealish and Soucek. This enables me to have Fofana and Coufal on bench where you have Veltman and Long
Yeah I didn’t want too much money sitting on the bench. Veltman is a starter and Brighton have a decent start to the season. I will use a wildcard a few weeks in and change subs so I can use that bench play chip.

Decent XI, though downside is you’ll be cheering on Liverpool each week? … presume with that cost that other four are cheap?

How would you get to Kane from a Havertz/Buendia move (couple of mill diff?) or do you mean in two or three steps?

I have one final piece of the puzzle to sort out and then I think my team is complete.

I have £6m for a defender and want one of these:

Digne (Everton have good fixtures, Benitez is defensive and Digne is usually good for an assist)
Cancelo (Super attacking and part of the best team in the league, not guaranteed minutes)
Dias (Best team in the league, should keep plenty clean sheets and should always play but low attacking threat)
Chilwell (Only 2 good fixtures in the opening 6)

Already own Shaw and TAA.

Any thoughts?

Quite content with this setup atm

Sanchez, Guaita
Shaw, Aarons, Williams, Lamptey, Ayling
KDB, Sancho, Raphina, Jota, Jorginho
Toney, Kane, Richarlison

Ps. Havertz. His next five fixtures are Arsenal, Villa, Liverpool, Spurs, City

Digne then swap to a City player from GW7 (when Everton play United)?

I feel that attack got high potential.

Personally though think Bruno and Mahrez probably beats Sancho plus KDB, but the second might be more nailed.
Actually would rather start Bruno as a captain over KDB and then maybe sell him for the best City player.

I would probably downgrade Jorginho and uppgrade Aarons, Williams and Lamptey.

I think Lamptey is still injured and Richarlison at the olympics so watch out.

Digne out of this list. You could look at Dunk or Coufal or Cresswell too. If you go with the first two you get 0.5m you can use elsewhere!

Toughie but Digne should be solid I'd say. Had him a fair bit last year and he seems to be very good at getting bonus points also

TAA, Shaw, Tierney, Dignie
Salah, Mahrez, Sarr and Fernandes
DCL and Iheanacho.
Bench is deadweight. Gk is Sanchez and Foster.

Ps. Havertz. His next five fixtures are Arsenal, Villa, Liverpool, Spurs, City

Yeah Arsenal are alright for Havertz I believe. But don't fancy him in the others, so he's definitely a placeholder with decent 2 first games - then I can see whether Kane moves to City, if Sancho kicks off or if Buendia looks good in first game before deciding what to do with Havertz. I think first gw will be all about monitoring new great valuepicks and being ready to move in/out.

From gw4 on I think some decent moves will be Ait Nouri (4.5) - attacking with good fixtures, and Raphinha from gw5, so they are also part of the watchlist. It might be a -4 at some point, but then the team also is sound. Ultimately I'd like to avoid wildcarding before gw14 or something where United's fixtures gets really good and Chelsea's bad.

Why lots of you ignore bench? I see lots of teams here with dross on the bench which aren't playing at all? Is it smart move. One late injury, tactical switch from coach or something and you are left with 10 man.
I have Sanchez, Ayling, Gilmour and Rowe on the bench and still think that it is weak bench.

Bench can't be ignored, especially with Covid still lingering, two major tournaments (and Olympics) being played just before the season and the usual risk of rotation and injuries. With that said, I don't want too much tied up on the bench. My current bench is Ayling, White and Gilmour. Players that should be guaranteed minutes if I need them.

Just over 2 weeks until this all gets going again!!
Incredible scenes.

I fancy Havertz as a placeholder for a move to a City mid in GW2 as well (Mahrez, Foden, Torres). Obviously not ideal to plan a transfer in but it would be a nice one to make if nothing esle to worry about. Can see Chelsea whooping Palace trying to play attacking football.

Trouble is it probably means sacrificing Bruno but then surely Sancho & Havertz > Bruno & Smith Rowe. Hell if Rashford has that op then Greenwood is definitely back on the table for me as well.

Hmmmmm....

Bachman / Foster
Chilwell / Digne / TAA (Ayling) (White)
Salah / Greenwood / Havertz / Buendia (Brownhill)
Watkins / Nacho / Antonio

£1.5m in the bank. Not bad actually. Can jump from Havertz to a City mid or Son with that kind of flexibility amongst other things.

People with Bruno, what weeks will you captain him?

Martinez
Dias Lamptey Trent Shaw
Salah Bissouma Buendia Raphinha
Kane Watkins

Sanchez Ayling smith rowe toney

thoughts?

No Salah, no Bruno, no Trent, RIP. Lets say Trent is going berserk at the beginning, how do you get him in with one transfer? You can't. Therefore there's another transfer or a 4/8 point hit having to be taken.

What's the reasoning to have KDB > Salah/Bruno? Salah has insane fixtures & is on penalties. Remember that fantasy football is about points, not about who the better players are necessarily.

Imo Jorginho is a waste of time too. He isn't a bargain & if Chelsea don't get (and score) a penalty then he's a 6.0m passenger.

Martinez
Dias Lamptey Trent Shaw
Salah Bissouma Buendia Raphinha
Kane Watkins

Sanchez Ayling smith rowe toney

I hope you aren't playing Bissouma over players like smith-rowe / toney. 4-4-2 statistically performs worse than 3-4-3 or 3-5-2 also. Apart from that, looks alright if you're happy with Kane > Bruno. If it was me I also would look at replacing Martinez with a 4.5. Yes he had great returns last season & everyone had him, because he was a bargain. Now at 5.5m, he isn't a bargain, Villa also have some nasty fixtures after GW3.

Looks decent, unsure on the Chilwell pick unless you're planning on keeping him long term. Greenwood could be a good punt if he starts the season > Sancho/Cavani, however I feel like there may be better options for players that are nailed on to play e.g. Raphinha, Harrison, Sarr amongst others (which also allows for 1.0/1.5m elsewhere).

Regarding the Bruno captaincy, I'm personally going to have Salah & Bruno and see what happens regarding form. I don't like to have an 'exact' plan at the beginning of the season, because things always go wrong. It's about being reactive in the best way possible in the early game weeks.
