Fantasy Premier League 2024/25

Both options looks ok. I'll keep Haaland myself and continue my nightmare of an FPL season by not getting Salah in this week either.
I'd wait with option one till after the pressers tomorrow at least so you have all the latest injury updates and base your decision on that.

I'll go Foden to Bruno and Lewis to Gabriel to get to:

Fabianski/Flekken
Gabriel, Dalot, Ait-Nouri (EvdS and Faes)
Palmer, Saka, Mbeumo, Bruno (Rogers)
Haaland(C), Jimenez, JSL

0,6M ITB

Not sure on which to bench between JSL and Rogers, but think I'll end on benching Rogers.

Crossing everything I have that Salah's form falls off a cliff.
Interested to see you bringing Gabriel in - he's been on my shit list for weeks now only I haven't got round to getting rid just yet!

I'm leaning towards Mbeumo->Bruno at the minute. Seems a safer move with Mbeumo's poor record vs Everton and Leicester, and the fear of Haaland going on another mad run makes him very hard to actually hit the remove button.

In this situation you keep him, then sell him after Southampton and use the money to strengthen elsewhere.

For me it was different, by selling him it allows me to buy Palmer.

Cheers, that does look the best bet.

Still a little bit tempting to burn that transfer on Johnson > Bruno if I'm not moving TAA out this week due to United's next couple of fixtures but that delays everything. Don't think Bruno would be my final destination player in that slot, want Saka back in there longer term.

With no Haaland can always make Bruno my 4th most expensive midfielder in the future, perhaps after we've played Arsenal and City.

2 FTS this week and a tentative plan to finally oust Haaland.

Just doesn't sit well with me ahead of Tottenham at home but it would allow me to bring Watkins and Saka in so feels like I could cover his points across these two if things go well...

I think Arsenal will turn their form a bit around from now on with Odegaard comming back to direct everything and them being able to play Havertz further up the field where he belongs. That's going to help them a lot in both ends of the pitch.
Mbeumo worries me a bit. He's been overperforming to an unsustainable level and has looked a lot less talismanic with Wissa back in the team.
Spurs at home could make Haaland a bomb this weekend. No NVdV or Romero, they will give him space and KDB is most likely back. Extreme ceiling on this one.

I’ve finally pulled the trigger and binned Haaland off, could easily back fire with him facing Spurs at home with a weakened defence but I simply had to get Salah in, not having him has cost me big time in recent weeks. Now praying Scandi’s shite form continues at least another few game weeks until I find a way to bring him back in.

Cheers bro, I think I'm gonna just do the transfers. Haaland might bite me but I think overall Salah, Bruno and Isak can outscore Haaland, Semenyo and ESR.

TAA has already been dropped to Hall. Even if fit, he is not worth the £7m.
They really should, they cost 2,4M more. So it's not apple and apples.
That said, a lot of players does the same move these days.

Note on Salah: He's overperformed his numbers to an unsustainable level so far this season: 8 goals from 6,5 xG and 6 assists from 2,0 xA isn't sustainable, especially the assists. (16 returns from 8,5 xGi - from FPL site) If Salah's overperformance doesn't drop off, he's on his way to 28 goals 21 assists season, which I really can't see happening. His expected numbers this season is pretty average for his time at Liverpool, which the last 6 seasons has resulted in 27-36 returns. It'll be very interesting to see what 12 games in 5 weeks will do to his 32 year old body as well. After the Southampton game Liverpool face Real Madrid, City, Newcastle (A), Everton (A) and Girona (A) in the next 14 days. I guess Salah wants to play all 5 games.

Note on Haaland: He's has massively underperformed his xGi the last 6 gameweeks: 2 returns from 5,52 xGi, which really isn't sustainable for him either. He scored 4 and assisted 1 in 2 games in the international break....he might have found his shooting boots again. If Haaland keeps up his numbers and equals them, he's on route to 42 goals this season.

For the people who likes some underlying numbers. Here's some numbers from understat:

Top 15 players for xG/90 for players with more than 500 minutes this season:
#1 Haaland 1,11
Wissa 0,76
Watkins 0,75
Jimenez 0,72
Solanke 0,70
Jota 0,68
Archer 0,67
Jackson 0,64
#9 Salah 0,63
Schmodicz 0,56
Isak 0,55
Evanilson, Johnson, Havertz 0,54
Wood 0,53

Take away the pens:
#1 Haaland 1,04
Wissa 0,76
Watkins 0,75
Solanke 0,70
Jota 0,68
Jackson 0,64
Jimenez 0,61
Schmodicz, Archer 0,56
Isak 0,55
Johnson, Havertz 0,54
Garnacho , Welbeck 0,52
#15 Salah, Diaz 0,49
Semenyo 0,48
Adama at 5,0M - 0,47

For assists:
Saka 0,69
Palmer 0,53
Son 0,45
Savio 0,43
Digne 0,41
#6 Salah, Jimenez 0,38
.
Adama 0,36

For total expected non penalty goals and assists per 90 (npxGi/90):
#1 Haaland 1,11
Saka 1,03
Jimenez 1,00
Watkins 0,90
Palmer 0,88
#6 Salah 0,87
Adama 0,83
Jota 0,82
Wissa 0,81
Jackson 0,78

It's a bit funny that Salah (12,9M and rising) has produced 0,87npxGi/90 compared to Adama's (5,0M and stable) 0,83 npxGi/90. Tells you a thing or two about over- and underperformers.

So after all that TAA hold/sell talk I'll have to sell.

In other news Kovacic is out for 3/4 weeks as per City's presser. Can't figure out if that makes them more vulnerable defensively or not. It's not like they've been doing well in that regard while he's been playing but there's always room to be worse. Suppose it might make Lewis a bit more nailed but no guarantees there either. Stones has played in the midfield a fair bit before, and I think Akanji did a few time last season.

They have an embarrassment of riches when it comes to players who can cover more than one position.

The Championship will love them

Agreed. A 46 game league campaign is a hard slog, and as we know anyone can beat anyone in that division. A few old-school utility men will be very handy.

Don't want to drop Haaland and I see no way to get Bruno or Saka. Tough. Might settle on Semenyo and I really wonder if it's not time to sell Wood...

I can do the below without taking a hit:

Raya, Mbuemo, TAA for Sanchez, Salah, Hall, leaving me with:

Sanchez
Gabriel, Hall, Mazraoui
Salah, Palmer, ESR, Semenyo
Haaland, Solanke, Larsen

Subs: Fabianski, Rogers, Anderson, Greaves

But only 0.2 in the bank so no Bruno or Saka later...

Thoughts?

Is Palmer fit? Just had a read of the Chelsea press conference and he didn't really confirm it.

Yep. Team is strong and I don't think hitting out Haaland this week is the right call. Forest aren't pushovers at the minute anyway so Saka isn't urgent and we've got 2 good games left before a tough run as well as being unsure what our style of play will be. 3 cb's doesn't exactly scream free flowing attack.

Right, I'm locking it in. Captain Haaland.

Those are some very good points. Gone with Mbeumo->Bruno.

Has the potential to be a pretty high scoring week with Palmer, Salah, and now Fernandes all playing newly promoted sides. Or a bitter disappointment; who knows?

Good luck everyone!

Sanchez (Hendo)
Saliba, Al Nouri, Mazraoui (TAA Bartolo)
Salah, Bruno, ESR, Rogers (Winks)
Haaland, Solanke, Wood

0 in bank

Which is the biggest priority? Shipping TAA or Solanke?

Could just to TAA to Hall and bank a load. But then who gets left out of the strong 12 - Solanke? Al Nouri, or even Hall!

Salah currently captain, Southampton are rancid. But open to Haaland conversion.

Hmmm... Final decision.

Raya to Sanchez or Semenyo to one of Damsgaard/Winks for bench option (would mean I start Rogers every game where possible).

I like Sanchez in there as feels like Chelsea will keep cleanies and he'll rack points up.
Do that, as you have Gabriel.

Yeah just did the move. Thanks bud.
I'm almost tempted to move TAA to Gabriel, but feel like Hall at 4.4m banks a lot more dosh and gives flex for a future week.

Only just brought Solanke in and he has a decent home next week, so probably will leave him alone.

Arse fixtures turn better so Gabriel should be good. But that's the thought process that made me buy him and he hasn't once delivered more than 2 points

I have Solanke too. Would have preferred Isak but I'm 0.6 short. Might be one I look to navigate to on the future though. Can always downgrade one of ESR or Semenyo.

Solanke is fine for a while. City won't be easy but it gets better after that. The only swap that's worth it is to Isak but there's a 0.8 difference.

TAA is no way worth the money whether fit or not.

Thought this was a decent option...then realised I'm 0.2m short...so i'm editing this and sticking to my last post..whoops!!

Jackson is one booking away from missing a game and he always gets booked.

Saliba has been woeful looking at his points record. 23 points over 11 games, only 3 scores 5-6 points! Yikes.
