Fantasy Football 2017/18

Switched my team up as I'm not going without Morata, Lukaku and Kane.

Foster
Hegazi
Otamendi
Bailly
Davies
Salah
Mkhitaryan
Groß
Morata
Lukaku
Kane

I got Hazard but for the next few fixtures I think Sanchez will be better

Sane or Silva is a tough one but for me Silva slightly edges it as Sane might go back to starting LWB with Mendy out injured

Alli or Mane depends on the rest of your team, do you have other Pool or Spurs cover?

Currently I have Salah , Ali and Mkhi . I'm thinking about leaving two or even three to get mane, hazard/sanchez and one of silva or sane. Up top I have Lukaku and Morata

Very good team! I might do something similar after the internationals, but will probably have Silva instead of Salah or Mkhi.

But agreed, in midfield you'd be fielding 3 fairly lowly players.

I have Kante & Matic...not huge point scorers but always steady and reliable, and they only cost £5m each which allows me Alli, Pogba & Eriksen in a packed midfield five...

You still have Pogba in your team?

Decent team. I'm trying to make 343 work but have been struggling as so far have morata lukaku and Jesus up top- decent strike force but I need to fit Kane in which would mean making some drastic changes to the rest of the team.

With Aguero out for a couple of months...need some advice.

My team:

Elliot / Foster

Jones / Monreal / Naughton / Mbemba / Simpson

Salah / Mkhi / Silva / Ritchie / Carroll

Aguero / Lukaku / Firmino

A) Aguero & Jones > Kane & £4.6m DEF (-4 hit)
B) Aguero, Firmino & Jones > Morata, Jesus & £4.6m DEF (-8 hit)

Any other ideas?

I went with Lacazette instead of Jesus, not sure why when I think about it though.

I don't see the need to take a -8 hit for Morata and Jesus when they are both likely to play in a low-scoring game.

Exactly, thinking it could be low scoring myself.

I've taken the risk and gone Morata in case he steals a goal in a 1-0 home advantage. Both him and Jesus have top fixtures after this so Firmino gets one more game against Newcastle then Jesus comes in.

I too got Aguero for Kane last week. Although I slightly regret the decision now, doing the reverse now would be making a similar mistake. I do want Aguero medium-term so I'll probably ride out this GW.

I actually might not have Kane for the next 4-5 weeks if I keep Rom.

I take it this was before you read the Aguero news!

Wouldn't you rather cheaper players, some 4.5m action if all you want is a starter who'll get 2-3 points 95% of the season?

Also, you're limiting your opportunity for buying into Chelsea and United if they get on a good run of form or fixtures.
I've stuck with De Gea and Lukaku, and had Pogba when he was fit too. Matic would have prevented one of them, at a much lower points output

Current team:

Forster
Bertrand, P. Jones, Hegazi
Gross, Silva, Alli, Mkhitaryan
Kane, Lukaku, Rodriguez

Elliot, Naughton, Carroll, Rangel.

I am mulling taking out Alli and Rodriguez to bring in Morata and Steven Davis for a -8 (Wasted the free transfer on Jones )

And use the remaining 1.8M to swap Rangel -> Danilo (Maybe next GW).

Makes sense? Worth it?

Took out Kane for Aguero last week and now made the switch again! Right where I started

Okay so I'm going to take a -4 hit to swap Mendy for Otamendi or Danilo. Danilo is a slight risk as it's not guaranteed he'll start in Mendy's place, but is very cheap (5.4) right now!

Plus Otamendi will typically play for 90 mins..

You were literally questioning my wildcard last week for being too top heavy
:(

I was. But as I posted above, and especially after last GW, I am convinced that this is the way to go this season. Every team has a top striker going hot right now.

Taking a WC.

Going from this:

Forster
Bertrand, P. Jones, Hegazi
Gross, Silva, Alli, Mkhitaryan
Kane, Lukaku, Rodriguez

Elliot, Naughton, Carroll, Rangel.

to this:

Forster
Bertrand, Hegazi, Cresswell (or Reid)
Gross, Silva, Mkhitaryan, Ramsey
Kane, Lukaku, Lacazette/Morata

Elliot, Andy King, Naughton, Mbemba. I would have 0.1M left, which I can use to swap Lacazette for Morata after the City fixture/price rise.

Thoughts?

In my opinion (somewhat a noob at this but rank 50k at the moment) defenders are massively underrated and for value it is better to have a 4 at the back than have 4 midfielders. 4-3-3 seems much better to me than other formations in this.

The big questions remains folks... Coutinho or Sane

Current team

Foster
Cedric Hegazi Bailly Simpson
Shaqiri Alli Mhiki
Lukaku Morata Firminho

Requires some major surgery, have mane on the bench.

Yeah. Have changed to Kane, although I might re-assess in two GWs.

Took out Kane for Aguero last week and now made the switch again! Right where I started
Me too. Wish I hadn't. I was prepared to let Aguero stay this week and was thinking, "Why couldn't have I done that last week with Kane against West Ham?" Free transfers are evil.

:(

You might want to rethink that now. Hazard and Sanchez are back, Aguero out so City mids will have bigger role and Rom and Kane have a tricky set of fixtures coming up.

Not saying it's a bad strategy, but definitely worth reconsidering going into the next few GWs.

Depends. If you have high-rated defenders from big teams, then 3-man defense formations are feasible. On the other hand, if they are cheap players from defensive teams like I have, then yeah, 4-man defense improves probability of getting clean sheets.

We've not yet seen the best of mids this season. That might change with Sanchez and Hazard returning.

I have both Lukaku and Kane. Getting one of Hazard/Sanchez means letting go of one and getting in a mid-level striker. However, the options just aren't that consistent over there.

You don't necessarily have to play with three forwards. Line up in a 4-4-2.

I have both of them too, but I get the feeling it might be time to let one of them go after this weekend. Lukaku + Kane gives security, but there might be more points elsewhere over the next 4-5 weeks.

Lukaku, Morata and Kane look like they are going to easily get 20+ goals this season each, fitting them in is IMO worth it over any expensive midfielder.

I've taken a bit of a punt and done Aguero > Rashford.

Probably only a short term option really, but I'm banking on us spanking Palace as I also have Lukaku and De Gea.

Not disagreeing with that, I myself have had three premium forwards for the past three weeks.

I was only talking about the next 4-5 weeks. Part of FPL is to correctly expect downturn of an in-demand player and sell him for a profit.

Also, discount premium mids at your own risk. Kane and Lukaku got 20+ goals last season as well, but the 3 top-scorers were all mids (Sanchez, Hazard, Alli). Both Alli and Eriksen scored more than Kane.

Love offbeat moves like this! Fancy making him captain? ;)

Honestly, it's hard to look past Lukaku as captain, but I would probably go for it if I didn't have him.

In fact, I've captained Lukaku every week apart from last week (went for Aguero which paid off) - like I say, it's hard to take the armband off Lukaku for me.

I just hope he starts scoring more than 1 goal a game in the league.

It's so difficult with strikers this year:

Aguero (now injured)
Jesus
Kane
Lukaku
Morata
Lacazette (I think he'll start doing great soon)

I currently have Lukaku Morata and Chicharito. Thinking about getting in Jesus and dropping Alli from my MF... But then I would have no spurs players.

That's my formation 442. Have Lukaku and Kane up top. Silva, Mkhi, Eriksen and Alli in midfield.

As a short term replacement I have gone from Aguero to Niasse. Let's see how bad it goes. Also should I take Jones out and take a -4 hit or risk it? I will anyway transfer him back in later after the international break.

Risk it. He's unlikely to come on as a sub so he'll either play or not. Make sure the back-up defender is of your choice.

All my substitutes have very less chance of playing but then again I will risk it. Have had it worse than 0 points for a player *cough* Mane *cough*.

Martial, yes or no? Feels like a shrewd buy right now but I guess he won't be fit.
