After you make transfers, before you confirm them, you can press 'use wildcard' or some wording like that.

Yes as Snow said you will see a "Play wildcard" when making transfers.
Though I don't think it will appear on your screen as you already have one of the Chips (Triple Captain) activated for this gameweek. I'm not sure if you can deactivate the Triple Captain but look for an option to do that then the wildcard option will appear

Played my Wildcard, big overhaul giving a much stronger squad but at less cost than before, £1M in the bank. Still unsure whether it was a good idea to take out Hazard for Sanchez though, time will tell.

With the Aguero injury I'm considering a switch to 3-5-2 with 5 quality mids; something like this;

Might be forced to go 4-4-2 due to injuries, unless Ayew comes back around beforehand. Ugh.

Brought Pelle in myself and swapped out Richards of Villa for Cedric of Southampton. I have a solid team this weekend - may have a bit too many conflicts within the Leicester and Southampton game though. Vardy and Mahrez vs Pelle and Cedric. Left Cedric on the bench for now - Southampton do have a nice set of fixtures coming up over the next 4/5 weeks.

I transfered out Aguero and brought in Costa and used the extra money and second free transfer to transfer out Wanyama and transfer in Cabaye. Will play 3-5-2 for awhile.

I would have to take out 2 more midfielders then. I chose KdB primarily because they play Bournemouth at home and he will be the main guy since both Aguero and Silva are out.

That's awfully unbalanced.
Ideally your budget split should be in these price ranges:
GK £9-10
Def £23-25
Mid £35-40
Forw £26-30
- Your defence costs too much. Downgrade at least one of them. Dann to Souare? Possibly downgrade even two. Have three 4.5 defs and play the one with the easiest fixture along with Kompany and your other 5.0+.
- Midfield is way overkill. Personally I'd do Mata to someone below 5.0.
- Forwards are obviously too short as you mention. One of Ighalo/Ayoze to someone £8.0+.
Midfield might seem tempting now but it will hurt you in the longer run when the big hitting strikers return to form. A balanced squad will give you flexibility to make changes easily.

I just brought in 2 defenders after the WC. Usually I had a 4.0 defender who I never played. But this time around, there is no guarantee of clean sheets, hence I thought of having two 5.0 defenders and rotate them depending upon the games. Kompany is only for this GW (against Bournemouth, no-brainer, really). Honestly, he will be out next GW as he is too expensive.
I was thinking of playing with 5 mids mostly. And depending upon the games, a 3-5-2/4-5-1. So that all the midfielders play most of the time. And when you have players such as Sanchez, KdB, Mata, Payet who play so close to the goal, it doesn't make sense to overload the strikers.
Hmm the above seems to be saying that 3-4-3 is the best system, which doesnt necessarily hold true when the midfielders are generally outperforming strikers at the moment - None of Payet, Mahrez, Sanchez, De Bruyne or Mata are poor picks to play and there aren't many forwards at the equivalent price who I would take over them (with the exception of maybe Mata).
Definitely spent way too much on defence though. Also pretty much every player there has been bought after numerous price rises, which is why you're lacking in funds moving forward.

Yeah, I have Kompany only because they play Bournemouth. I would have preferred Sagna, but there is no surety he will play now that Zabaleta is back (Sagna served me well during the start, sigh). He goes out next week, with a 5 something defender coming in. But breaking up Mata-Payet-Sanchez-KdB-Mahrez seems a real difficult task cause as you say, there isn't any striker right now who is performing to his worth.
If Kolarov is out I will fail to put out 11 fit players with Kolarov, Silva, Ayew and Evans in the squad...

Eurgh, foolishly forgot to take Aguero out and now Mahrez again isn't starting. Dier suspended so I'm down to the barebones, need my midfield to show up.
Put Hennessey in goal instead of De Gea. Hmm. Have Soure to. Mahrez not starting (on my bench anyway but Ayew is a doubt for Monday..). Have Pelle, Mané and Vardy but 2 centrebacks score lel. Alderweireld gets some points, though. Bellerin and Sanchez later. Hazard nothing yet. Berahino needs to score. Not great so far.
Awful week and I took -12 hit. Right now I have -6 points overall with only Sanchez and Bellerin to play. International football wreck most of my players and now their is a possibility that Van Gaal might fancy Martial as a winger. I might take him out and get on a striker who consistently plays as an out and out striker.
