No muppets on here suggesting we put in a bid yet?;)

2 quality goals tonight

Well out of anyone's price range I would of thought unless City crack out the cheque book. Cost Atletico £38 million.

He's brilliant, but there's no way in hell we're ever putting in £35m+ bids for anyone again. And that's not "we're skint!!!!!", it's just the economic reality of how the club is run.

A complete striker. Well poised to take that title from the aging Eto'o.

El Tigre is the real deal...not often you can say 40 million was well spent but it has been

It's crazy I thought a bit club would snap him up last year. (Athleti are a big club though)
They used the Aguero money very wisely.

Class. Would love to see him in a United shirt. But if Hernandez develops in the way we all hope he will, he won't be far off from becoming like Falcao.

Completely different players. Hernandez won't be half the player Falcao is on the ball, but can be just as deadly in front of goal as we already know.

Falcao is awesome. He would be practically impossible to get. How much did Athletico pay for him? 30m or something? His price would have to be up to 50m after the season he just had.

Well, that was my point. Falcao is a deadly finisher, and probably in the top 2-3 headerers(?) of the ball in world football. Hernandez can possibly be up to his level of finishing if he develops in the way we all want him to.

35 or 38m is still too much for him.

Torres - €58 million
Carroll - €41 million
Villa - €40 million
Kaka - €65 million
CR - €94 million
Ibra - €46 million
Kun - €45 million
Berbatov - €38 million

Can't bargain basement shop for a striker like Falcao, particularly since Atletico already paid €40 million to get him in the first place...Admittingly, it seemed excessive at the time since he had really only proven himself in Portugal...You realize they let their best player in Kun go and added Falcao at a savings of €5 million?...Not bad business for a club that typically does bad business...Throw in the fact that they got Adrian for free, I suspect they too will turn a nice profit with that player as well...Same for Juanfran who was bought for a paltry €4 million

Possibly the best natural finisher in the world right now?

that backheel for his second goal too put the defender on his ass and earn himself a foot of space for the shot was magestic. Total instinct.

Hes not got outrageous pace or skills, but has a very good work ethic and is brave too put himself about a bit.

Makes alot of dangerous runs too - reminds me of hernandez the way he always is trying too get infront of his defender at the front post.

Its no coincidence he manages to get so many goals wherever he goes. Class striker

I know what a utopia is, I was more asking why you considered it a utopia.

Pretty amazing that Athletco made an investment of that size. Of course it turns out they were right, seems he's worth more than that now.

Let's just hope City doesn't buy him.

Atletico, not Valencia.

Chelsea would probably want him

They were linked with him alot when AVB was in charge, but for some reason it never went through; all of a sudden atleti snapped him up, was pretty suprised too be fair.

But was a very shrewd investment, losing aguero and replacing him with falcao.

Fans must be very happy.

He has now won the Europa twice in a row, not bad aye?

Very nice from Simeone

"Big players run a risk because they have experience but if they can't put their past wins to one side and get excited for a final, their experience counts for nothing," Simeone stated at a press conference.

"Falcao is the best example. He forgot what he did last year and because of that he could live the moment he did on Wednesday.

"I've known Radamel since he was a boy. I had him at River [Plate in 2008], where we won a league together. I love him as a person and admire him. There's no ceiling to his ambition."

35 goals this season going from the Portugese league to a new top league and keeping his ridiculous goal scoring record is incredible.

Would love to see him in the Champions League next year. A player of that quality should be playing in the most elite competitions.

Will be hoping Atletico beat Villareal and Malage slip up against Gijon, but very unlikely.

What a player though.

He gets the ball anywhere in and around the penalty area and you fancy him to score.

Atletico paid €40m for him only last summer.

I don't see him leaving so early and if he does, they'll want a fortune.
