Because he is not as good as Rashford, Antony, Sancho or Garnacho, and there is debate that Amad is better currently.

I completely forgot Garnacho, so that's on me. Sancho should be better but he isn't, and Amad isn't showed for our first team that he is better.

He's promising all right. He should get more and more chances and I think ETH trusts him.

You can see he has got it. Looked to overthink most situations yesterday but with a stretch of starts i'd think he thrive.

He had a good game last night. Making his full first star for the club away in Spain in a hostile atmosphere. Will do him the world of good.

He sounds very happy at United and EtH seems pleased with his progress.

I only saw the second half. He was no more than decent but to me he looks like a much more naturally talented player than Antony, and also a lot more sensible and a lot less selfish with his decision making. Very diligent in defence too. Which means I struggle to see an argument in Antony's favor. Pellistri simply looks better to me.
This to me is preposterous. For all Antony's limitations, he's better in most aspects of the game, has scored vital goals for us, has plenty of experience, is physically much more robust. And he's barely 2 years older.

We all know Antony is not an £84m player but people are going way too far the other way. Pellistri is not at Antony's level now, nor will he ever be from what I can see.

I think his attitude is great. After joining Manchester United for so long without having game time on the pitch, he did not complain but tried to impress ETG on the training pitch for a long time.

I assume ETH sees his attitude and willingness to improve himself in the training.

I wouldnt take too much out of it, its just a new thing in here, to pop at Antony while saying good things about Pellistri.

Well said. It's sad that many of the fanbase cannot praise a player without tearing on another at the same time

I especially like his attitude. The opponents did physical checks on him the whole game. I remember a moment when he run to left to help out defending and the opponent completely knock him out, sent him to the air and he landed five or six meters away. He just tried to get up as quickly as possible, and run to play again! A really grounded and hardworking person!
Yeah I liked that. Seems a really game lad. No nonsense.

I think I want this kid to start over Sancho at this moment. He has lots to improve but I think if used properly he can be an asset.

There was oppurtunities where he could have taken on his man but decided to play safe. It was his 1st start so hopefully he’ll get better with more minutes

What do you think Antony looks to be better at, apart from shooting and body strength?

Well firstly those are two fundamental attributes for an attacking winger!

I think he's also better defensively, more tenacious generally, and better at keeping the ball in tight situations.

I'm not trying to put Pellistri down here, he looks like a potentially decent player in the making. But I'm just struggling to see what others are seeing in him based on his admittedly limited body of work so far. Just looks like a hardworking technically competent winger who will ultimately struggle to really impact top level games. I think people see what they want to see I guess.

I agree.
He doesn't have too much to his game.

Doesn't that actually also describe Antony, though? He is ineffective in a lot of games if we're being honest.

As with young players, their development is much more important than their performances. But unfortunately, we live in an era of one terrible performance, or a few bad ones will write them off immediately.

I want to see we give him time, lots of time.

He's a good prospect for sure. He is dangerous with the ball, he reminds me a bit of Messi the way he dribbles, you can see the influence there. Like to see him get some more chances, I think he's good enough to be a bench player right now, no need for a loan.

I think the way Ten hag wants to play, Pellestri could be a weapon. He plays that inside pass and runs onto the one two so well, he done it like 6/7 times in the game, unfortunately, the returns at times from Weggy and Fred were off.

Imagine him playing that off a striker or Bruno, we will be alot better from the right.

And you base your opinion on a player who just made his first start for the club

To be honest that sounds a bit like Antony.

I probably agree with the areas you highlight (not sure about defensive qualities, will have to see more of Pellistri to judge) but there are some serious drawbacks to Antony's game, which I don't see with Pellistri. Most obviously his onefootedness and predictability, his lack of pace and lack of courage or ability to take players on. But also some very dodgy decision making. He seems to be too safe when he should have been bolder and too ambitious when he should have been more conservative.

I fear that those things will always hold Antony back from becoming a proper starting player for United, and I don't see the same limitations with Pellistri. He looks faster, more willing and able to take players on and more fluid in terms of moving away from his position and participating in quick touch play.

I was quite impressed by him, I think he kept the ball well and moved us up the pitch consistently. He’s not had the same impact as Antony yet, but he hasn’t had the same opportunities either.

A very impressive outing yesterday by Facundo. He offers skills and decision making that Antony has yet to demonstrate, but at this point Antony’s powerful left foot gives him the edge if both are fit. But I don’t see that much daylight between the two RW players.

I thought he was decent, he's clearly a winger rather than an out and out attacker though. The fact he doesn't just shoot 10 times a game will probably mean some struggle to see his worth.

He's a different type of player to Antony so no point comparing, we need different options after all.

The comparison is to Sancho and for me he's shown enough to play over him right now. Will be interesting to see what happens with Amad as he looks a bugger talent to Pellistri

I like his passing and forward thinking, brilliant running with the ball. He also did well tracking back but it was a game already won.

We should see more and I think we need him to compete on all fronts. I hope we don't send him out on loan.

I liked what I saw last night. He wasn’t trying to force it, just played and be a part of the flow. At times we see young players overdoing things in their full debut but this lad didn’t. That’s good temperament and at Manchester it’s a key attribute for a young player.
Might end up not being good enough or a better player might appear but he is currently in the same boat as all the other youngsters currently trying to establish themselves at the club. He can’t be compared to Antony because they are at different stages in their development.

Just nice to see a winger with a bit of variation. He might not have the left foot thunderbolt but it's refreshing to see a fullback having to consider going left or right

Also when he runs at a full back you get the feeling he actually wants to get in behind, as opposed to just getting upfield a bit so that he can cut back and either shoot or pass backwards (hi Antony).

I particularly enjoyed that despite being totally gassed, he still made the effort to track a runner and protect his right back around the 85th minute or so.

“It makes me very happy to have more participation in the team.

“I recently played as a starter, [and] that helps you feel better, both in training and on a day-to-day basis.

“Hopefully, I can follow this path, continue contributing, and, at the end of the season, I can win all the possible titles with the club.”

“It (fans’ backing) makes me happy.”

“It would be worse if nobody wanted to see me play.

“Feeling that support from both the Uruguayans and the people from Manchester, wanting me to play, motivates you and makes you keep putting in [the effort] to have those opportunities that are coming and I’m enjoying them.”

Apparently being offered a new contract despite his current one having two years to run

Should have been brought on for Martial rather than Weghorst. If you're going to roll the dice, then this kid might give some bit of spark.

He will run at people and with the ball. WW was waste of a sub and certainly he also could have been brought on for eriksen.

I don't understand our use of him. He's had decent cameos for us
