Love how to praise a youngster, we have to bash another one of our players on here.

Loan makes most sense, we've chosen some good ones this season and best thing for him is game time.
Don't really agree. He's 21 now, another loan is pointless, he's already played 76 professional games. We need to find out what he's about now.

I will never understand how Elanga has been ahead of him and Amad in the pecking order over the last two years.

Come on Erik at least name him on that bench against City. Believe me you will get more than from Elanga who has done nothing in cameos

I'd still be interested to see if his best position is on the left.

Most players play better as inverted wingers. It feels like a lot of right footed players end up getting stuck on the right despite it not being their best position simply because there's a lack of left-footed right wingers.

To his credit, ten Hag does seem to reward good performances, I expect he'll make the bench if not make a cameo.

He looks to me to be two-footed, he looks as if he could play either side

United can’t afford to play a team of developing emerging players each week in the PL.

That said the lad that scored two goals today isn’t bad is he? And that Greenwood fella was a pretty good player. Oh and Garnacho?

That is fair.

I got the sense the poster was whinging about United developing players which I find odd given Rashford is flying and Garnacho is integrating really well.

Sorry, I should have clarified. I wasn't saying United are bad at developing players or anything. I think we're very good, but sometimes it seems we pick the wrong ones to develop because their mentality is a lot better than their actual footballing ability. @CM10 pretty much laid out my point already, but I was simply saying that I believe if he had gone to a club like Ajax or Dortmund, he would be a much more accomplished player than he is now because he would get consistent game time. It's been very back and forth with him now, not getting much game time for United before being loaned out to a horrendous, defensive team such as Alaves, coming back to United and then back to Alaves. I think he would've been a much better player if he had played consistently for a team whose purpose was to develop him.

I also agree that United can't afford to develop a lot of players simultaneously, which is why I also disagree with the people who say we should have bought Moisés Caicedo from Independiente or Enzo Fernandez from River Plate. They wouldn't have played as much for United at the time as they have for Brighton and Benfica, and therefore it is very unlikely that they would be as developed as they currently are.

Definitely, I'd start him in Carabao Cup too if we draw Forest/Wolves. Him on right and Garnacho on left could be terrific options to have.

We can't be lucky enough to avoid City/Newcastle (sorry Southampton I can't give you any chance)

Elanga has surpassed that barrier from youth into a known entity that needs minutes. He'll be favoured until injuries or rotation allows Pellestri a few good games.

Ideally Elanga goes out on loan and it opens up the chance to play.

I respect elanga a lot he always gives his all and i can see why coaches whould like such a player but i agree of the young players pellistri's abscence was a little confusing to me . Hes a much more talented footballer than elanga imo

There's a reason why he starts for Uruguay.
And there maybe a reason why he hasn't for United, ETH is very big on discipline, Garnacho fell a foul of that pre-season, maybe Pellestri had the same kind of thing, I really don't know, but if hasn't then I do find it odd that he hasn't appeared before tonight

There’s definitely something about him.. very direct and the balls seems to stick to his feet. From the looks of the Uruguay team he works very hard off the ball too.

Only reason I can think of as to why he isn’t getting more minutes is a Garnacho situation where his discipline might’ve let him down.

Talent wise he looks good.

Yeah ideally to Everton in this window, however that Uruguayan source who tweeted above suggests he will be off out instead

Same here. I was baffled about Garnacho not playing but after the reasons for it were published that he done some stupid things i agree with how ETH handled it. Same could be true with others and it'll never will be known to the public.

I expect that'll be exactly why, and also why we should see it as promising that he's got his first appearance, hopefully means he's over whatever issues he was having.

I hope so, he looked good at times at the WC

Yeah he has much more chance of making a Garnacho impact v Fulham than Elanga in my opinion. What has happened to that player who scored away at Leeds and Atletico

Well we know he had an injury at an unfortunate time. He's a talented player and if he doesn't go out on loan then I think we'll be seeing more of him. ten Hag seems impressed.

I don't see the reason anymore why Elanga should ever start ahead of this guy.

Very clear which one is more talented.

The lack of trust in him is baffling. Lest we forget, he is a full Uruguay international. Actually a key player for them who does very well more often than not, and played a fair bit for Penarol.

He doesn't shirk defensive responsibility either so yeah, doesn't track

If there was a lack of trust he wouldn't be in the squad, there's reason that we don't know but judging on what happened with Garnacho it's possible it's the same kind of issue

That balance, low centre of gravity and ball control made him look like Messi against a tired Charlton. As everyone has said, has to be ahead of Elanga, definitely a player in there who needs more minutes. Rashy and Garnacho for the left and Antony and Pellistri for the right, sancho wherever and whenever he is ready.

Hopefully Erik sees that has to happen and doesn't send him out on loan before these huge games against the top two

Good decision making, play direct, nice ball control. Can we dream of another Garnacho on the opposite side?

Watched the post match interview, he is a nice kid, very grounded.
Maybe, this is the season for him to establish himself in the team.

May he be our secret weapon for the rest of the season. Having another attacking option on the right is so key right now.

He plays rarely and everytime I see him his face looks a little different than the previous one I saw.

Hasn't he been injured most of this season and then on loan previous seasons? I don't get why everyone is acting like there must be some disciplinary issues going on or whatever.

Pellistri’s critics can Facundo off.
plus pellistri one, on this!

Kid's just fecking exciting. Dancing, latin style that's just beautiful. Really hope he grows up to be one of our greats.
