Only really seen bits and pieces but not getting Mata vibes to be honest. The difference in pace and being right footed makes him a totally different player to what Mata offers on that side. I'm not sure who he reminds me of, rarely see right wingers beating a man on the outside and pinging crosses in anymore. It's nearly a throwback to the powerful running of Joaquin
Real Betis one?

From the very little of what I’ve seen of him, he reminds me of Amin Younes. Same low centre of gravity. Younes was a very exciting little dribbler at Ajax for A while, even made his Mannschaft debut. He could dribble around players on the square meter. In the end, he didn’t make it, because all his other skills, like passing, crossing, shooting were non-existent. On his day, he definitely was exciting to watch though

That’s an impressive performance . Really glides past players. His end product looks the biggest issue at the moment but that’s not uncommon at that age.

Found space for the crosses well though. The end product can be worked on. Looked like he had the quality in the crosses just didn’t hit the target

Yeah I’d agree with that a couple of mean ones across the face that really needed finishing. I’d like to see him shift and get a shot on target occasionally too.

That clip is brilliant - we haven’t had a player like that on our wings for years! His close control, dribbling and crossing (I thought they were all good crosses - a decent striker would have buried at least two of those) look top notch. Seems to have some fight about him too.

what was he, £9m? He’s clearly a similar level talent to Hannibal at a similar price. I’m glad our youth scouts are spotting these players and the club are acting decisively - there’s no sustainability in paying £50 -100m for players every time.

He looks every inch the classic winger. A throwback almost. I see that he's viewed more as a David Silva like player, but he seems to have a different type of skill set. Perhaps he can transition into that type of player at some point in his career. An older version of Giggs basically. I haven't seen him display any real vision or passing ability yet though. Certainly not like Januzaj for instance. Great dribbling ability though obviously. It's so aesthetically pleasing to see that low centre of gravity, combined with what seems like a South American stubbornness/refusal to go down under a challenge (or maybe I'm purely thinking of Messi).

I was told he is slow. Doesn’t look slow to me. No matter the level he’s playing at, I like his ball control whilst dribbling and running with the ball.

Not having these Mata or Silva comparisons one bit. He doesn’t look to play slowly or pass and move, he gets the ball and drives at opponents and is happy going inside or out.

the one player he reminds me of? Kanchelskis.

he’s a fun player to watch, put in 2/3 beautiful crosses from the right so far. He might be a little way off first team at the moment but you can see why we signed him, great natural ability.

The way the ball is stuck on his feet and his quick feet is why I don't think he will look out of his depth if we start integrating him to the first team.

That style of dribbling is pretty similar to Suarez’s when he started out at Liverpool. Looks messy as feck and feels like he can fall over at any moment but still got past defenders somehow.

Reckon Ole would love to get that point against PSG on Weds and have the opportunity to give him some time on the pitch away to Leipzig, however would say the most likely place we could see him make his debut is the Everton away game in Carabao Cup but wouldn't be in the least bit surprised if he waits until FA Cup third round provided we get favourable draw.

That run at 0:45 reminded me of CRonaldo against Bolton. A little, I guess.

I like how he doesn’t need to do a boatload of tricks to get past his man. His dribbling is erratic though; sometimes it looks like he might lose control of the ball, sometimes it’s nice and silky.

Moving forward, as he continues to settle in, I hope to see him use his left occasionally to shoot. One point in the video, I think he had enough space for a left footed shot but instead went back on his right and tried to look for a cross. He’ll need to work on his decision-making as well.

A shame they used a potato to take the video.

You say that but if he gets going he may be in the squad sooner than you think as we're so light on options in that position. I agree he looks like a very young and raw Kanchelskis though, no bad thing at all!

He’s definitely got the talent and i would like to see him off the bench when the game gets stretched, but there’s more to first team football like tracking back the LB, defensive positioning etc. I’m sure when they think he’s ready he’ll get a chance.

if he can cross like that in the first team Cavani will be laughing!

Yes mate, totally agree, I was just stating that there is currently little standing in his way regarding competition for that spot and a speedy transition to the first team. If he proves to be good enough, he'll pretty much be straight in.

Yep I’d rather give him a chance than seeing the likes of mata shoehorned in again. Width is so important to the attacks and I think that’s why we struggle at home. It’s just too easy for the defensive teams to stay narrow and block the centre.

Agreed. I still think Mata has a role here but only as cover for Bruno when he needs resting, not out wide.

Yeah he needs to be played in the middle. This is probably for another thread but I find he tucks inside and just clogs up Bruno’s space.

if we had a really attack minded RB it might work more often but asking AWB to do that job just doesn’t suit him and then he’s not there to do the defensive work when we lose it.

From what I have seen of him and Diallo, Diallo is the one that looks more ready for the first team and is probably the better play at this moment in time. Diallo is 6 months younger as well but Pellistri looks like he has all the tools to make it at the top level.

He needs time still. Struggled with the physicality a bit vs West Ham at times but clearly there's something there.

I think he's okay but we can't really judge a player at U23s level. Daniel James would look great there as well but is finding the Prem a little tough for the time being so far

Ole would probably like to give him a cameo against Leipzig but only if we could qualify tonight

Let him bide his time. He is still Raw. Let him build up his confidence and iron out issues in his game and then we can go ahead. Next Season for me.

Itll be next season for the club too. We have zero need to rush him into the starting 11. If we beat PSG and Leipzig is a dead rubber he might get a cameo off the bench.

I'm not getting the no end product argument. Not at all. There'd be some validity to it if he wasn't putting 2/3/4 and sometimes 5 excellent crosses across the box per game at the moment. Is it really his end product that's at question when the players aren't making the most out of the ball being put into dangerous areas? If anything, I'd argue that it's others' end product off-the-ball that's diminishing Pellistri's involvements. Put Cavani on the end of any of those crosses in the video above and it's at least one goal (let alone actually created chances.)

To the person who cited Kanchelskis as a comparison; actually that's not a bad shout. His running style on the outside and low/hard crosses are very similar to Andrei's style. Not saying he's exactly the same player, but that comparison is to be expected when you're a wide player who actually has wide-man qualities.

In every single match I've seen him play for the U23's he's demonstrated the best defensive work-ethic in the team. Watch the compilation vids, he's constantly winning the ball back in the defensive third of the field. There's one thing I'm not concerned about with him and it's his tracking back. U23's is evidence of that.
