I still can’t get over his trim, he looks like a throwback player. Sorry I know we shouldn’t discuss his hair in this thread but my word...

So he might be then? He’s never played CM, he might transition but he’s certainly not a natural CM by any stretch of the imagination.
Do what you want, couldn’t care less.So he might be then?
I’ll go with Vickery’s assessment instead of the experts on the Caf. Cheers
Seconded. So he played as an attacking wide player most of his career and people wanna see him in the centre already? He doesnt show any kind of passing and vision ability to justify that nonsensical David Silva type of player comparisons. He´s a better crisper version of Daniel James with a lot of time on his side. Not exactly a passer or creater but a great dribbler with some acceleration as his biggest assets..What gives you that impression?
He has the ability to get the ball from deep and run through the centre of the pitch, but apart from that I don't see any central midfielder at all.
The guys main skill base is acceleration, agility and good dribbling technique. Maybe he'll develop that over time but right now he's a winger and that's it.
Agree. Many have made the Silva comparison, which is reasonable if we think about technical attributes and his old AM (often wide) self. Going from that to Silva at CM in a very particular setup is a massive stretch. He’s never played CM, he might transition but he’s certainly not a natural CM by any stretch of the imagination.
Technically, Pellistri is better than most of our players even in the first team and I'm talking close control and dribbling to get out of tight situations. Additionally he's quick so even if he struggles right now it is an age/adaptation thing. Eventually he will be one of our better players as he already possesses the qualities you can't teach.
Dan James for instance is mostly a physical player and at his age technical ability is not a thing you can teach so he will always be limited.
my thoughts exactly. I'll wait to watch him a bit myself before writing him off, saying he's great or trying to explain his playing style!Oh nonsense. You’ve watched a few highlights from a flipping Under 23s match.

I've genuinely seen someone write him off alreadycome on. We should all be making sweeping assessments about how he’s going to turn out. He’s been here a month now, more than enough time to judge!

If I have time I'll see if I can dredge up their post
Elanga's been on the bench before - they often rotate the players and give them all a different chance.Judging by these 3 games he played for U-23's, Elanga was better.
But the one who gets on the bench is Pellistri.
Is it just based on the fact that he was bought for 10 million euros?
Don't remember it honestly.Elanga's been on the bench before - they often rotate the players and give them all a different chance.
Elanga plays the opposite wing, we've got Rashford and James to play there. Yes, it's obviously being bought for £10m is going to play a big part, he's really only playing with the U23s to gain match sharpness, all the articles around his signing suggested as much. He's been specifically bought for the first team, he's played a lot of first team football in Uruguay already. We want him ready as soon as possible due to our dearth of right wingers.Judging by these 3 games he played for U-23's, Elanga was better.

That's very kind of you.Do what you want, couldn’t care less.
Expect to be called out when you make a point on here, expect to receive snarkiness when you start being snarky yourself. What Tim Vickery actually said he is that he sees him as more of an attacking midfielder than a winger in the mould of David Silva, how you interpreted that to definitively state he's a natural CM I'll never know. That's very kind of you.
Dummy-spit-pushchair!
Carry on mate. You're making yourself look rather childish. I'm enjoying itExpect to be called out when you make a point on here, expect to receive snarkiness when you start being snarky yourself. Rather than admit you were wrong you've doubled down, admirable really. I'll stick you on ignore, you've obviously nothing to contribute.Carry on mate. You're making yourself look rather childish. I'm enjoying it

Whenever I see him, I get the feeling of Juan Mata but a lot faster. Don't you get that vibe too? I think him and Diallo are very different playersMy word. A right winger doing right wing type stuff. It's been so long
I don't think that he is yet ready. Too much is going on in his head. I think he will get a game against in Cup competition but don't expect moreFor those who have seen him play for the reserves, is he ready for a first team cameo?
not yet. maybe last last stage of the season he can play a few minutes. For those who have seen him play for the reserves, is he ready for a first team cameo?
