Fabregas set for loan

Can't see 3-4-3 lasting forever, it will eventually get found out. Still need other options unless the club is looking to sign someone like Koke.

Agreed. The 3-4-3 is working very well now but other teams will adapt. Or Chelsea will have injuries that make the system less functional. You always need to have multiple ways to setup the team in changing circumstances and loaning your one CM with real quality on the ball is a puzzling decision for a club with title aspirations.

Don't think he'll be going anywhere until the summer. Can still play a part so long as he plays with both Matic and Kante behind him. He simply cannot play in a midfield 2 any longer.

I'd love to see him play as the most advanced of a 3 man midfield against the small teams in the PL.

There's no way he will go to fecking Bournemouth  Wilshere isn't half the player he is. They're uncomparable.

Would I have him at United? Probably. But I don't think he's what we need at the minute. We need a good runner in the midfield like Kante. Fabregas has lost yards of pace and is more of a "number 10" than a ball winning/defensive midfielder. I for one, am happy enough with Mata as our number 10. I don't see a need to buy Cesc. We should be going for someone like Matuidi in my opinion.

Also, he was offered the chance to come here during the Moyes season and he said he was "flattered". So in my opinion, he shouldn't get another opportunity to join us if we weren't good enough for him before.

Is he on the wane though? Last year everyone at Chelsea bar Willian were really poor, it was a collective issue and their new manager don't use this type of player.
Fair point JP. Though he was pretty shit from almost the second half of that title winning season at Chelsea, IMO. So it's been a long decline and he's seemingly struggling to get a look in - but your point about Conte preferring a different type CM is also valid.

He is one of the greats in terms of creating chances but, he does not really have a natural position. He lacks the pace and trickery you expect as a #10, he lacks the mobility and energy you expect of a midfielder and lacks the defensive ability you expect in a holding midfielder.
I think the same. What would his position be if he is with us? One of the double pivot? We do not have a holding mid who is strong enough defensively to cover him.

On loan would be okay. Too many players see us a last payday and retirement home.

I'd want him nowhere near United. At his best he's quite a player, but last season was a disgrace from him. We don't need anymore players who will down tools when the going gets tough no matter how good they are on their day.

I think he'll end up at AC Milan, and will probably flourish in Serie A.

If there ever was one teenager I thought was nailed on to be a world beater....

To be fair he was one of the best players in the league for years and certainly could have won much more if he'd moved from Arsenal sooner. I actually think he should have gone to City instead of Barca, I don't know if that was ever on the cards but he would have been perfect for them when they were starting to build the team with Aguero and Silva.

He was our best player and one of the best in the league for 7 seasons. Shame he had to be a cnut and walk away from the club which gave him everything.

He gave you years of service then went back to Barca, his home town club and the best side in the world to win things. He's not my favourite player but lets not make him out to be like RVP or Sol Campbell.

The biggest cnut move he ever made was sneaking off from Barca to Arsenal, not the return trip.

Nope. Was lower in the pecking order at Barca and figured he had a better chance at Arsenal.

Years of service and then left when the manager needed him to stay the most.

Low in the pecking order? He was 16 and at Barca! Messi wasn't playing at fecking 16! Of course he'd have a better chance of getting in a team with Ray Parlour and Edu ahead of him.

Left when the manager needed him most? He gave Arsenal great service and Wenger rewarded him by replacing Henry, Bergkamp and Pires with Eduardo, Baptista and Walcott.

It's a wonder he stayed as long as he did given the change in ambition of the club from when he joined to a few years later. I understand the reasons the club made the decisions they did but it's not every young players dream to help pay for a stadium, they wanna win stuff!

He spent 7 or 8 years and Arsenal wasn't winning any trophies. All those years he was one of the best in the league, so in a way he wasted his career at United fighting for 4th place.

He should have left early but with benefit of hindsight he shouldn't have gone to Barca. Madrid game would have suited him superbly.

Lower in the pecking order when it came to graduating to the first team. Something he's specified time and time again. Owed nothing to Barca.

And yep, left at his peak, and slid downward after that personally, save for a great half season with you. So yes, if he'd looked at the long term, could have stayed and become a club legend. Now he's a former wonderkid who lost his way and ended up with a bunch of mercenaries.

The times reporting he's on 220k a week, I'm amazed on he's on that type of money and he's got a contract until 2019.

Why are people here even discussing possible moves to you guys? :wenger: As if we'd send him to a rival even if we didn't fancy him...

Serious question, what if we offered to buy him?
Don't think there's a chance José would want him after what happened last season. If we're speaking in hypotheticals, I just can't imagine Roman would sanction another high profile departure to a direct rival now that we watch so many of our former players killing it for PL sides (Cech, KDB, Lukaku, Mata, Romeu, Bertrand). Hopefully we're done with selling players that can haunt us.
But you sent Moses to Liverpool :(
Yet another in the long list of Mourinho mistakes it's looking like...

A few seasons too late for this one, would have loved him here anytime from Moyes first window up until start of last season. But he isn't the player he was.

Wasn't there a rumour that it was he and Costa that were instrumental in JM losing the dressing room at Chelsea
Yeah i don't really want us to buy him. Was just more interested if Chelsea would see, as they've done in the past.

But yeah, sorry gents. I probably read the situation wrong last season, I thought Cesc was one of the few who tried getting the media to blame underperforming players and not the manager. Thought Cesc showed some loyalty to JM. But probably got that wrong. I thought it was mainly costa, matic and hazard, to name a few.

Cesc has publicly always said the right things in public regarding the Mourinho situation. Posted on Twitter and Instagram thanking him for all he did for him, took the blame for the poor season, etc.

I just think Mou feels our players are mentally weak and wouldn't even consider Fabregas again.
