That's really against him, a left back has to be left-footed in my opinion.

Apparently they live together with their older brother who looks after them so I'd imagine they would find it difficult to move apart.

Fletch said in an interview yesterday that their English is improving and they are part of his poker school.

Apparently their brother moved back to Brazil once his wife became pregnant. And Fabios wife moved with him. Not sure if Rafael is married. Their living situation is totally unbeknownst to me, as well it should be

He seems to be a tough guy, played with short sleeves and isnt scared of any challange. He needs a similar run in the team like Rafael had.

Right now, he's at the same level where Rafael was 1 or 2 years ago, making exactly the same mistakes. Give him time, and he will improve at the same rate and become absolute class

I think he's got a better football brain than Rafael, if anything. He looks a terrific footballer. I can't wait to see the two of them rampaging down opposite wings. It will be terrifying for both the opposition and us.

Terrifying for us? To tell them apart?

The problem is that he won't get the first team chances in the next 2-3 years that Rafael is, because we've a godlike left back who's still only 29.

Fabio is definitely a decent all-round footballer. Watched him run the midfield for the reserves, and always picked the correct passes.

From yesterday's game - I didn't see his coming inside having to do with not being naturally left footed but, more about 2 things:

1) Giggs was constantly on the inside and Fabio would stop and pass the ball off to him
2) He wasn't trying to beat his man down the sideline potentially leaving himself exposed - which is a good thing

He was conservative when he received the ball in their half which to me shows maturity in that he isn't thinking attack first and defend second.

Certainly hope he keeps clear of injuries. Excited to think that the twins could be our fullbacks for quite a long time - plus they look cuddly wuddly.

Looks decent yesterday.

But let's not blow his performace out of proportion. We were up against Rangers, a team that barely attacked out of their own half. He was not properly tested in my honest opinion.

Needs games. Games against teams that actually attacks down the flanks. I remember games like AC Milan, Bayern Munich, Citeh where Fabio was up against Ronaldinho, Ribery and Tevez. These are the games that will improve a young player's confidence, exposure, experience. Hope he get a good run of games in some of the EPL games as well during the glut of games during last week of Christmas-Boxing Day Period

Was your confusion between Rafael and Fabio blatant or are you retarded?

He's always looked the more conservative of the two when it comes to going forward. I would love to see him bombing up when we're playing at home.

Isn't Evra going to Spain?

Good young player but dont think hes got that special magic dust about him we see in Rafael, it may just be a case of Rafael obviously having more chances for the very simple reason we have no Patrice Evra at right back, but i think Rafael certainly at this stage looks the better player comfortably.

huh dont you know paddy is off to madris in the summer :wenger:

was really impressed with fabio the other night..

agree with some other posters who mentioned him being caught out of postion a few times but really glad SAF gave him a start in a tough away match..

needs to get regular first team football to catch up to his twin bro :D

showed better positional sense - more conservative/safer - looks younger than Rafael but Rafael does better music for the lads

Why? Are you under some kind of injunction or restraining order?

No, no, no, both on the same wing, Fabio ahead of Rafael. I'm not quite sure what impact it will have on the opposition, but it'll make Martin Tyler have a stroke.

The only thing close to that set-up I can think of is when I was six years old my ice hockey team had a girl on it, we always tried to get her to kiss opposing players so we could take the puck off them and score. It never happened but we were certain it would work, she wasn't having it, though, the bitch.

I think he looks more mature than Rafael did after a similar number of first team games. He seems less reckless defensively and has a good grasp of when to get forward and join the attack. Love how he gets stuck in as well, both him and his brother are tough little bastards.

Just hope he steers clear of injury and gets more opportunities to show us what he can do. He's got bags of potential, and you have to love idea of the twins tearing it up on either side of the defence.

 You may be right tbh but I can't stop laughing when I think at playing with a short sleeve being a sign of toughness

Needs to learn how to track back. Seriously where the feck was he for Valencia's goal?

Carricks fault initially, that was clear for all. But he should definately have been quicker off the mark

Wing backs have a tendency to go forward when their team is attacking...
Psychic backs on the other hand can see the future and thus knows when they need to stay back because their team mate will foolishly lose the ball in a dangerous position.

Fabio is a wing back.

Fabio is partially to blame, he was ahead of his man and let him run past for some reason.

can someone explain why when Carrick gave it away did he just follow the ball where we had cover. If he had just sprinted to the left back spot, we would have been ok. Fabio has been superb.

Its not just that he should have been quicker off the mark, but he shouldn't have been so far up either, he was near the half way mark, one of the disadvantages of having attacking minded full backs. They have to remember that their job 1st & foremost is to defend.

Other than that incident though he is having a great game at left back, did exceptionally well in winning the ball back off Dominguez i think it was in the 10th minute.
