TBH I think playing him off a striker is holding him back from reaching the next stage of his development which for me is 9.5/false 9.
I think his goal output would increase by doing so and also get him out of Pogbas way.
It's what France should do as well imo.
Could easily be RWF ala Messi, where he could easily shine. We already have an overlapping RB in Valencia.
I'd love that 4-3-3 formation a la Real Madrid that was posted earlier. We'd also have the players to play on the flanks

Alone yes. I saw him play off Giroud during the Euro's, haven't caught your recent games but I presumed he was still doing that. Happy to be corrected if Deschamps has changed tactics.

Similar to the way Puskas is used here... albeit, Griezmann less of a natural striker, so would need wing-forwards either side who can operate at CF now and again.Pogba

Which wing forwards, Rashford and Martial? There's none in the team. Besides, both Rashford and Martial ended the season playing as striker. So, I don't see it happening, really.
Ideally, one of those two.. but if they don't cut the mustard, we'd have to invest in some wing forwards for example Mbappe/Neymar/Dembele/Sanchez etc.
I agree that this would be the best use of Griezmann for both United and France (both with a similar formation).
Against weaker teams can chuck another striker in and move Pogba back into a midfield two.
See, why would we change our play to adapt for players we don't have besides Griezmann, who can easily play 4-2-3-1 or 4-4-2?
Because you have to look at the long term picture and the aim is to win CL and multiple titles.
The key to doing that is maximising both of their chemistry and ability.
The longterm picture should include Pogba exploiting his huge defensive abilities, the ones that he shows when he is bothered. At full potential Pogba is the ultimate box to box and the midfield should be his kingdom. The longer we play this hiding game, the least likely he is to exploit his potential, just let him be Vieira 2.0.
I am not averse to that approach, would love to see him become that.
In club football though and in CL, very hard to play a 2 man mid and win midfield battle.

And on 'easier' games, we can have Mata/Mykhi there, with Pogba on Herrera's.
We can also have Griezmann on Ronaldo's as a free roaming striker on the wing. Then Pogba in Modric, Herrera in Kroos, and FFabinho in Casamiro.
This is interesting and it answers my question about how this midfield 3 would play. It's just about how I imagined though, so my issue with the number 10/second striker position remains - there is none. Which is OK! I really like this. BUT we don't need Griezmann - we need an out and out number 9. Griezmann is best as a second striker, or maybe a number 10. So if we do get Fabinho, I can't see the need for Griezmann - either that or things are going to look very different. I just don't see Griezmann as a winger at all. It's like when we signed Mata because he's a good player and available, but we didn't need him in his best position (10) so we stuck him on right wing where he's just OK. Looking at this it really makes me think we need a number 9 and 2 wingers! Crazy to think that with the talent we have. But to my mind Mata is best as a ten, Mkhitaryan is best as a ten (I don't like him in the team at all mind you but that's just me). Rashford is best as a 9 and I'd even say Martial is a 9. This squad still needs a lot of work doesn't it? Gotta say Joses the man for it.

We need to sign him, he is the most important signing we will make, if we do. I think it would be stupid not to sign him at 30 million euros only.

Missing out on Fabinho would be more disappointing than Griezmann for me. He's the type of player you can see going to Juve and being their Marchisio for another 10 years. Then again I was over the moon when we signed Schneiderlin, so what do I know.

I agree that we should sign him but I don't think he's our highest priority by any means. We'll control the game against most teams with what we have; it's finishing it that's the issue.

Its according to the article, according to Monaco ITK its 40-45 million euros. Either way he is 23, he is worth it and considering there are not many better players than him in his position along with bakayoko to chelsea seemingly failing leading to matic being unavailable, we have to go for him.
