Fabian Hürzeler: Brighton Manager (just 31 years old)

Just looking like yet another poor loss by ETH. Again.

Brighton fans were literally all saying before the game they were so worried about the high line vs Chelsea’s fast attackers.

I’m surprised Hurzeler altered nothing and walked straight into that very obvious blitz attack with that suicidal high line. It gave me Spurs down to 9 men vibes.

This is why I don’t understand why people were so content with that performance against Brighton. They had the same ridiculous high line against us without the press and we just passed it around in circles. And whenever we did play for a pass over the top Rashford was too dumb to stay onside. Under Ole we’d have massacred that high line.

Hurzeler in the post match praised Cole Palmer for how ruthless he was in punishing Brighton's defensive errors. And Cole Palmer is obviously one of the best players in the league but his setup was genuinely absurd. It seemed like an experiment to see if, with all of them starting from the half way line, Nicolas Jackson, Noni Madueke and Jadon Sancho can win a foot race against Adam Webster and Lewis Dunk. And it turns out they can, repeatedly and reliably. Bizarre he made no attempt to fix this after Chelsea kept exploiting the high line.

Palmer's free kick was just brilliant though.

He seems very much like the complete opposite of Dyche in terms of style but in terms of their respective styles, it requires complete perfection to work otherwise you'll end up on the losing side.

We would have won that game if there wasn’t that one in a million absurd offside. Can understand the criticism of eth but this season we played good football until now and are unlucky not to stand at 4w 1l. I will give him until Christmas, than you have an idea where you stand for the season

What say you now ?
