Achieved Full Member status today.

One of the first things i thought of was, yes! i get to finally get involved in this thread!

Good news for everyone involved, as i love F1 as much as i love football. And understand it even less.

what are your thoughts on the 2021 driver’s championship?

What are your thoughts on the 2008 driver's championship?
Haha full disclosure i did have to google to make sure i was thinking of the correct season.

I must admit i lost my shit when Timo Glock stuck it into first to take in his final lap at sunday driver pace. I loved Massa.

But i will salvage myself here hopefully - how good will it be to see Lewis take no 8 in red!!

One of the best cities on earth, racing aside
I was there when I was 5 and developed arachnophobia, no joke. feck that place.

Anyway, can’t wait to get up at 6 and 5 in the weekend. Not sure though if I’m going to get up early or just stay awake through the nights

I'm on nights this weekend luckily, probably one of the only benefits of working nights on a weekend is boxing and f1

I'm at my best mates wedding the day before, and it's going to be booze heavy, so I think even being up for the replay at 8am is going to be a tough ask.

I really wish somebody would shut this old fool up.

Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko has claimed Lewis Hamilton did not match Charles Leclerc's "level" during his debut pre-season with Ferrari.
Despite Hamilton being 0.05 seconds faster than Leclerc in Bahrain testing, Marko suggested Hamilton's enthusiasm for driving the SF-25 didn't translate into superior lap times, hinting he still trails his younger teammate. Hamilton remained positive despite limited running due to an unspecified issue.
“In Bahrain, Leclerc was the much faster one,” the Red Bull motorsport advisor told media. “But that’s normal. He knows the team, he knows the car.
“Hamilton drove a lot of laps, gradually improved, but was not quite at Leclerc’s level.”

He s not wrong necessarily but I do wish he would keep his focus on Red Bull instead. Then again, you do sometimes wonder how much of this is the press fanning the flames by continuously quoting certain folks where everything they say in turn fans flames with certain contingents of fans that may be more passionate than others - when you know they probably have them from everyone.

A really interesting read about how changes in how TV content is consumed by younger audiences, is making F1 think about how best to get F1 out to a big as audience as possible.

Apple/Netflix want global rights, however F1 sell rights country by country ala Sky Sports deal till 2029 in UK.

If Sky ever lose the F1 exclusively, I'm cancelling my subscription the very next day. Be great not to be restricted to Sky Sports for F1.

Can’t you just use F1TV instead of Sky?

BREAKING: Former Red Bull Sporting Director Jonathan Wheatley will begin as Kick Sauber Team Principal from April 1

I think Max will win again, unless Ferrari sort their shit out (they seemed more organised this season with less stupid decisions so fingers crossed)

Lando - not convinced he's a world title winner. Not ruthless enough and not the best under pressure.

McLaren need to stop with the small team mentality "he let you win last race so you do the same this". No. I get the sense they're trying to keep Oscar onside as they think he's the better driver

Oscar - fell off a cliff a bit at the end of last season but think he's the more likely of the 2 McLaren drivers

Lewis - be interesting to see what Lewis we get, last season suggested he'd lost his edge slightly, but then he was stuck driving that awful car and knew he was moving.

Charles - can't tell with him if he's quite top tier. Be interesting to see how Ferrari politics play out, given they are very pro team orders - both these are used to being number 1

Just hope it's a really exciting, close season, with multiple drivers and teams in contention right to the last race, with lots of close racing. Last season was good, but Max got too much of an advantage early, and was too consistent, to make it interesting, Lando then fell apart.

It should be close as most teams will turn their main resources towards 2026 cars.

Whoever is leading the championship after race 9 probably has a good chance of winning the WDC. If they can convince their team to keep ploughing resources into the 2025 car till championship is won. Which could have a knock on effect on 2026 car.

If Leclerc or Hamilton are out front in WDC, you could see Ferrari trying to maximize the opportunity to win first WDC and Constructors in over 20 years.

Biggest unknown for first few races will be the RedBull's operating window. Have they resolved the wind tunnel correlation issues?

Don't think I can remember when I looked forward so much to the start of a season before. Let's hope it's a classic season.
