Maybe the drivers are thinking about the people like pit teams who have to be there but aren't going to get a job or would lose it if they naffed off.
Horner: F1 can't be bullied by terrorism
Speaking to Sky Sports, Red Bull team principal Christian Horner said:
"The sport has to stand together collectively. Any act of terrorism shouldn't be condoned and sport shouldn't be bullied into a position. A situation like that just isn't acceptable."
"Stefano and the president are dealing with it. There's all the assurances from the organisers and we will be going racing."
I actually agree with Horner, to a point.
When does not bowing down to terrorism become not worth the risk.
One stay missile in to the track on Sunday would be horrendous
I have no idea what “they wouldn’t have much to discuss on their own” means. If it was just 2 drivers “kicking up a stink” and not wanting to drive at a track near missile attacks they’d just let them not drive and carry on without them. It’s quite clearly more than 2 drivers.Well if it was most of them they wouldn't have much to discuss on their own. And I think at least some of the team principles would have reflected the views of their drivers.
Suspect there's maybe 2-5 drivers kicking up a stink and everyone is trying to talk them round.

Russell is the GDPA director (alongside Vettel). Should be some news shortly then.
If Russell is going alone surely he’s speaking for all of them meaning they’ve taken a decision together? I think that last tweet has 47 followers or something so could be fake.
Toto vs Horner turn 1Maybe the team principles are taking the place of the drivers?
Nah that's a VSCOver/under 50% chance there will be a red flag because a missle will be intercepted over the track?
Nah that's a VSC
Well what a colossal waste of time all that was.
.How accurate is the Patriot missile system?
During the 1991 Gulf War, the public was led to believe the that the Patriot had near-perfect performance, intercepting 45 of 47 Scud missiles. The U.S. Army later revised that estimate down to about 50 percent — and even then, it expressed “higher” confidence in only about one-quarter of the cases
Even at the very best 2 got though , just think if one hit the main stand !
I naively thought we were about to see a momentous coming together in sport. Alas, no. Gasly has said all drivers were unanimous in agreeing to race.Completely disappointing and pathetic but sports, football and F1 alike, sold its soul ages ago. Sportswashing is the goal, and that goal is fulfilled.
Sad. I will not be watching this Grand Prix.

So disheartening. Although it couldn't have been unanimous otherwise what were they deliberating over for 4 hours?I naively thought we were about to see a momentous coming together in sport. Alas, no. Gasly has said all drivers were unanimous in agreeing to race.
I bet they think the halo will save them from missiles too.
well playedI bet they think the halo will save them from missiles too.
BBC are saying a significant amount have safety concerns. Medland is saying extra information was given at the end. No idea what that was.So disheartening. Although it couldn't have been unanimous otherwise what were they deliberating over for 4 hours?

They probably spent the previous 3hrs 55mins debating the Abu Dhabi 2021 race. It was all sparked off by Lewis wearing a white t-shirt with an * (asterisk) printed on it.
I think a bunch of Ukrainians with stingers will do the same for less..
Then the Saudis need to procure the Israeli system on the quiet. The alternative, a cheaper one -- give free subscriptions to all those rabble-rousers who shot the missiles.
This or wave the red flag in front of the missile.I suspect their way of guaranteeing safety in the race will be a full scale attack on Yemen 30 mins before race starts.
Can't bomb if you're hiding. The world really is a fecked up place lately.
This or wave the red flag in front of the missile.
box box missile, box boxStop, stop, we have to retire the missile.
"Part of this information involved the possible consequences of not racing, such as how easily teams and drivers would be able to leave the country if the race did not happen." From the BBC. So basically it was race or you can't leave Saudi Arabia.BBC are saying a significant amount have safety concerns. Medland is saying extra information was given at the end. No idea what that was.
Is it terrorism when Saudi Arabia are bombing the feck out of Yemen? They targeted an oil depot. They shouldn’t be racing there fullstop.
Yeah, in the same breath he says that F1 shouldn't be drawn into things like this and also calls it terrorism (while it's really a 'regular' strategic Houthi counterattack). Nice bit of irony. That's what you get from cozying up to the Saudis. What I find hilarious about this is Horner is speaking of not being bullied by terrorism because of a missle coming from Yemen, while he is sitting in Saudi Arabia.
The absolute irony of this.
I hate this sport sometimes."Part of this information involved the possible consequences of not racing, such as how easily teams and drivers would be able to leave the country if the race did not happen." From the BBC. So basically it was race or you can't leave Saudi Arabia.
