F1 2022 Season

First time I’ve ever heard a convo like that. How can the team with all the data not just be making the decision?
Engineers voice sounds like Leclerc shouted them down and run everything through him now :D

Does anyone know whether the straight line difference is a PU thing, or an aero/chassis thing?

Edit: seems Brundle thinks Ferrari have gone with a higher wing set up.

"Oi, Charles, mate, what tyre do you want? By the way, the pizza in the garage is really good! Do you want us to save some for you? Wait, I forgot, you don't like olives. Don't worry about it, we'll make one without olives. Man, it's really hot in here. Are you hot in the car, Charles? We think of putting an AC next year. Is that a good idea, do you want that? So I watched this movie yesterday and I want you to tell me what do you think about? I think it was great but I want to hear another opinion. So there's this guy..."

Ferrari...

Both. But RB have often ran significantly less drag vs Ferrari in most races this season hence all the overtakes on Leclerc by Max. The Ferrari PU is good though I think Merc and Renault are lacking though they don’t say that.

Vettel going at Alonso now might be interesting. Alonso is slower on better tires?

There is a reason why some of the other teams like Williams and Aston Martin copied elements of the Red Bull a few races ago…..

For all the complaints, Mercedes isn't even that slow, they are at least on par with Ferrari, probably second quickest car today. I have no idea what happened in the qualifying with them.

I think the shock isn’t that Merc is fast, it’s more how slow the Ferrari is. 10s+ behind Max already. And 4 behind Perez. But yeah, on race day that Merc is decent and largely because the reason it struggles in quali (can’t get tyres to temp) actually benefits it massively in the race.

Yeah. They’ve been the quicker (but less reliable) car all year. This is the first day I can remember them being outright slower than the RB, let alone a Merc.

That’s just not true to be honest. The RB has been faster on race day for more races I’d say. Ferrari has had the one lap pace on qualifying though. It’s never been this different though mind. But this is definitely a RB track so perhaps explains some of it.

Aye, Ferrari is slow as feck. Leclerc struggled with overtaking the likes if Gasly earlier. And Merc is really good on tires.

Alonso stuck behind so many cars, oh dear
Weird stop because even if he didn’t balls up the stop by a few seconds he would still be behind them all.

Is it me or has strategy this year been awful from a number of teams, or are they all just made to look shit because RB is so good (except Ferrari who would be shit in all circumstances.

Although having just said that a number of cars get out Alonso’s way.

It has, but I'd say it's because the difference in degradation and speed on different tires between different races can be really big, they have no idea what to expect until the 10-15 laps in the race by the looks of it. I'd say Pirellis are shite this year more than anything else, but at least it makes it more interesting.

Lewis interrupting the interviewer as she was going to read out Alonsos radio message: "I dont care what Alonso said".

They have to stop transmitting the intercoms or Ferrari need to quit F1 to protect their image
