F1 2017 Season

The view from Grosjean's car definitely points the blame at Stroll. Some say he didn't turn so it wasn't his fault but he was going around a corner!

An iconic image from F1 history.

BAN HIM!!!!

ffs.

Even worse he took the steering wheel

Vettel turned with the corner but slightly more left. Stroll kept going straight when he should have been turning

He wasn't going straight. And Vettel, coming from behind, turned into Stroll's path. What is Vettel even doing there? It is nonsense to suggest a driver in front should be ready for another driver to do such a thing and adjust their path accordingly... on a cool down lap.

The original video made it look like he veered right. This clearly shows he didn't steer right.

Yet it appears the view from Grosjean camera is a case of a slight optical illusion which exaggerates the impression that Stroll turned right, when in reality it is Grosjean turning left. Why has Strolls footage only been released now?

Well it will look like that won't it? He's not turning left enough into a left-hander, result being his car moves right on the road.
You don't think it is up to the driver behind to leave a gap rather than dive in? This is becoming a theme with Vettel. He anticipates other drivers' moves (or lack there of in this case)... while not actually racing and causes accidents.

Thats more on Stroll...he just kept going straight while Vettel was turning into the corner...Stroll wasnt paying attention. Vettel assumed Stroll would turn into the corner....bit fault for both but more for Stroll....Stewards were right to not penalize either one.

I dont get how anyone can blame stroll over there. It was a freaking in lap  . He didnt suddenly move to the right. Vettel should have taken more of a margin.

I agree, I can't see how this could be remotely Stroll's fault. Its an in lap, you wouldn't be expecting cars to be looking to overtake. Vettel really should have just held back, no need for him to be alongside the other car in the corner.

I think that's Vettel's fault. He anticipates Stroll to make a sharper left which really wasn't needed considering it was an in lap. What was he doing overtaking at that point anyway.

And yes, I am a little to the analysis.

Looks like the corner was very wide as well. Huge amount of room on the right. Instead... I'm going to dive in on the left.

Yeah, I agree. If he was that intent on overtaking there, he could have easily gone the longer route effortlessly.

So you’re telling us he didn’t take his steering wheel and get a lift back on a car, I must have dreamed that

It’s petty to give them penalties but its the rules, which he broke twice and with this new footage that clearly shows Stroll turning to the left he should get a penalty for causing a totally avoidable collision.

FFS, some of you are acting like those bellends who sit at home watching golf, see a foul and call in to the PGA to report it.....he did nothing wrong...got a lift back to the paddock...no harm, no foul.

Its the rules ffs.

Fecking hell

Still discussing what happened between Vettel and Stroll? Give it over. Vettel is not gonna win the title in any case.

The guy from Stevenage hided himself again yesterday. He is destroying everyone in the qualifying. I do hate him.

feck man, i want hamilton to finish outside points tomorrow but mercedez looks mighty here. We thought Mercedez tracks are finished for the season ...

Toto always complains on friday just to confuse the opponents. Mind games. He is a sneaky cnut.

The big fluctuations in performance are down to the complex interaction between race car, tyres and circuit surface. The Merc is very sensitive and has a narrow window but in lower temps and sweeping corners thrives with its longer wheelbase, whilst the Ferrari is generally a more consistent car that thrives in high temps and on tracks that require good traction.

Just saw the highlights. That Merc is on rails, be very hard for Vettel to match that tomorrow. Best chance is to jump him at the start.

Great track though, proper drivers circuit

Certainly makes a change from the mile long runoffs you get at most tracks nowadays.

Totally. Make an error, you’re in the armco (Grosjean).

Out all day tomorrow, won’t get a chance to see it until around 10pm. Have a feeling this could be the one we see Vettel & Hamilton battle it out on track, which would be great.

Surprised to see the Palmer news today too. I thought that he’d ride it out until the break.

Interestingly heard that Renault have been focussing on an engine qualifying/master mode (a la Mercedes) for next year as priority. If they can figure that out it’d be great for the mix up. We might have Merc, Ferrari, Red Bull & McLaren fighting for pole next year

Was just checking F1 all time records and noticed Hamilton's 60th win put him at a higher win rate than the legendary Schumacher. Hated Schumacher at the time but what an incredible driver and hope he's at peace, at least. Anyhow, Hamilton is 31 wins behind. Hamilton can certainly beat that but he'll need at least one more lucky choice after the Merc reign ends. Will he do it?
