Everton 24/25 | Friedkin group close to takeover deal...

Southgate rumours intensifying.

Everton prospective owner Dan Friedkin has identified Gareth Southgate, 54, as a potential candidate to replace his fellow Englishman Sean Dyche, 53, as manager at Goodison Park. (GiveMeSport)

It's going to be a weird change of manager for Everton. Dyche is usually the type of manager you bring in when you're in this situation. Someone to make you solid and pick up regular points, and he's probably the best around at it now with Big Sam etc out of the picture.

Do they go for a complete change of style such as the Potter links? He normally takes a while to get his ideas across as seen at Chelsea and they could be adrift by then if they take too long to appoint him.

Southgate I still have no idea what his style would be, probably 3 at the back, but actual playing style I'd have no clue.

Oh please yes.

Friedkin is no Sorcerer. He will start out with Good Times, but this is no Deal Of The Century.

Everton FC (uK) will look to Exorcise many demons. They already seem Jaded. Been Cruising for too long and let opposition Rampage them. Dyche has The Brink's Job.

Having Mavericks like James Garner will help them with another Great Escape, though.

We shall see
Beware the Bugs bunny.

Late equaliser means they're unbeaten in last 5 league games. Still only on a point a game but since there are somehow still 4 teams without a win they've actually got a nice cushion.

The gap is turning into a chasm now, Southampton and Ipswich are nowhere near good enough for the division and Leicester only have a chance cause they managed to retain some PL players on big wages.

Wolves and Palace are having a mare to be down there with the advantages they have. Everton should be more than ok.

Everton and Dyche deserve each other. I really hope they relegated

Shows how cack the division is really that we can play as badly as we did today and have a nice cushion to those below. We really need to win more games though as our December run in is horrific.

I think wolves need to spend money in january. They have some good players like Cunha but a lot of pretty mediocre players too. I presume after selling Kilman, Matheus Nunes and Neto they can spend big, I dont remember them spending much in recent seasons.
Palace just have nothing going on out wide so i think the middle gets clogged up. Thats my theory at least. I dont think they have many obvious solutions to that problem and they'll underachieve

Yeah, I think Palace have been unlucky, but they are definitely lacking quality out wide.

I feel like Wolves have a real lack of ambition, and giving the job to a manager who would arguably be happy just to have a PL job, is probably proof of that.

He is a decent coach, but they have sold proven quality and given him hopeful punts in return. A manager with more standing in the game arguably wouldn’t stand for it.

Everton have been lucky the league has been a bit shite the past couple of years.

I think its a difficult juggling act but i'd agree they're doing a bad job of it. Its been a pretty steady decline from competing for europe and they dont seem too bothered about sliding down the table.

You can say the same about a few teams really.

Forest too. Both teams had points deducted and still survived with some comfort. Probably could get another point deduction and stay up this season with how bad the teams are at the bottom.

Wouldn't say last season we were lucky tbf. Season before that we definitely were.

This season could be another like the last though, I think we will have teams being relegated around 30 points or below.

Everton just like us a decade ago. Hardly winning any home games until March/April.

I couldn't believe how passive they were even after Fulham scored. Just stood off and let Fulham play around them constantly.

Also it's odd how Dyche has changed his style. At Burnley he always played with two strikers. You'd have thought losing at home would've meant he put Beto on alongside DCL but didn't happen.

Again he'll keep them up just about but he'll swiftly be moved on in the summer once the takeover is finally done, maybe before if they have another poor winter run. Their fixture list in December and January is brutal so I doubt they'll be that clear of the bottom 3.

Their fixture list for December is horrendous. United, Wolves, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and then City. Right after that I think they have Forest. They could be in serious trouble

Yep, and for some reason Dyche gets a free ride in the media. People twist stats to say 1 loss in 8 games but in reality we have 2 league wins this season, a loss against Southampton and have a manage who is unable to set up a side to create and score goals. Problem is that until the new owners arrive we are stuck.

Any concern that Roma are having an abysmal season with this group in charge? I mean Roma in the bottom half of Serie A and only 3-4 points off bottom 3 is not a normal situation however it's spun so clearly they've got many decisions wrong there in the last two years so not sure they're going to get all the big calls at Everton right straight away when the takeover is ratified.

Depends who they employ to operate the football decisions at the club. I actually think Thelwell is decent in terms of that stuff and would do well if they keep him and he has more security in terms of budget etc.

Sounds like they are hopeful of taking us over by the end of December, probably mid-December so we could be in for a big January.

You with Emery show how quickly a club can be turned around with the correct appointments and decisions.

It's not pretty. Lose tonight and we are in deep shit. It's expected that Dyche is gone as soon as the new owners come in but you want that next man to have the best chance when he enters the building and Dyche has done the opposite of that. Completely lost the dressing room and sucked all life out of the club this season.

Its that obsession from Everton to play the "Everton way". I get that is what brings the atmosphere and getting the ball upfield quickly but football has changed.

Everton need to have a look at teams around, its time to get a modern coach now.

I don't think that's what it is at all. It's the fact that we have had a shite owner who has been appointing people to make footballing decisions but then going behind them and making his own ones anyway which led to Benitez being hired, then Lampard and now Dyche. No synergy at all at the football club. I doubt you will find an Everton fan who wants to play the way we do currently. We want to play more progressive football and catch up with the modern times but our owner is just a moron who has no idea what to do in football and has never listened to those that *do*.

Yeah, I dont mean your fans, I am sure if they hired a coach and got better players, the fans would back it. Its more the hierarchy who think they know Everton.

I agree on the owner, they have got massive decisions wrong, the recruitment has been quite woeful too.

All down to synergy again. We have a DoF and did prior but it's been well documented that the DoF made deals but then Moshiri made his own deals with agents for some players so recruitment was happening in two directions instead of one.

Similarly now we have a DoF and manager who apparently don't see football the same (I thought they were on the same page before) and Dyche just doesn't play some people that we have signed or just doesn't utilise them in the ways that they should be.

Christ. I thought ours was tough but Everton could honestly come out of that run with zero points.

Dyche has been a massive problem all along. Yes there are others, but that one is fixable.

The problem is that no manager of substance would want to join a club where there is so much uncertainty regarding the ownership. The only reason Dyche did is because who else would hire him in the PL? I fully expect him to be gone as soon as the new owners come in but until then I doubt anything will change.

I'm not sure I've ever seen a run of games like it, if you fail to get 3 points vs Wolves, you could go on a full run of losses.
