Evan Ferguson - Top Irish Prospect

The chances of him cracking on and being brilliant after several injuries as a young prospect are a lot less than him having a middling PL career at best.

No idea why you’re so confident otherwise.
There's a big difference between that and being a League One player or being a minor miracle to be a lower PL player. Even if he doesn't hit world-class heights, a fairly reasonable expectation given his talent at age 20 would be to be Europa League level PL sort of striker, it's not like there are many great strikers around with his skills.

Is there anyone Chelsea aren't in the running for.
I managed to bang in a goal from 20 yards in my work 7 a side on Monday and I had 3 Chelsea scouts taking notes and I fully expect a formalised offer of £10 and a pint of Staropramen by the weekend. I'm expecting to join up with the 756 man squad by Wednesday.

That said, my injury problems are a lot less of a concern than Evan Ferguson's, given that I haven't had hamstring issues for a few years now, so I may yet offer them more value for money, particularly given what Neymar offered at his wage bracket.

Looks like that’s done and dusted now (with no obligation to buy) and he should get lots of game time there.

I think United should’ve tried to get him in on loan, but he’s still one to watch for the summer perhaps.

West Ham had to sign a centre forward after the disaster that was Füllkrug. 27m for a 31 year old, signing him on a 4 year contract. It seemed like a daft transfer at the time, and that's proven to be the case.

I think this is a little easy to say in hindsight when a team signs a player over 30 and then they get injured for most of the season, but the 3 years before that he'd scored almost 50 league goals and barely missed a game.

There was nothing in his history or playing style to suggest that he was particularly prone to injuries, just shitty luck for them he's had a couple of long-term injuries this season that have meant he's barely got started. That together with the Antonio crash and they obviously had to make a move. Thought I'm not sure signing a striker who HAS proven to be injury-prone is a particularly good solution to their current injury crisis at the position!

will he be the starter there from now? West Ham are awful since Moyes left. I fear this is going to be a frustrating loan for him but he needs games
Good move for him considering they were playing Paqueta as striker the last game due to injuries. Danny Ings the only other striker, even if Potter is fond of a false 9, should get plenty of game time.

Putting injuries to one side, I'm just going off what I've seen of Füllkrug during his cameos for West Ham so far. He looks like a clumsy oaf of a striker who is not suited to the pace of the PL. Spending 27m on a 31 year old with no resale value made very little sense to me.

Anyway, I agree with your final point about Ferguson potentially not being the answer with his injury record, but if it's on loan then I guess it's low-risk.

From an Irish perspective, I'm delighted with this. Praying he stays injury free and finally gets a run of games. Let's see what he looks like as a regular starter.

If he's playing regularly for West Ham, Parrott banging them in Eredivisie and Europa League, Idah scoring in the Champions League, striker position is looking very healthy for Ireland. Defence looking decent too if Jake O'Brien is playing regularly. Just that black hole of midfield is the issue, hopefully John Patrick keeps going at Reims.

Yeah, lots of positive signs at the moment, Omabamidele finally getting a game with Strasbourg, Cashin getting the move to Brighton, Azaz flying in the Championship. Really looking forward to seeing what we look like in March.

And there's no black hole in midfield quite like ours.

I'm convinced that one day in the future, there'll be news/gossip that Chelsea are in for a player making waves in a foreign league, only for it to become apparent they already own him and he's just out on loan.

It's like me buying trainers, there's been a few times I've realised I already have the exact same pair boxed up that I'd totally forgotten about.
