Europa League 22/23 | Final: Sevilla vs Roma (May 31)

How on earth are arsenal top of the league? Sporting have been all over them. They’re just having a freak season arsenal. Nothing more.
Literally everything has gone for them.

City, Liverpool, Chelsea having massive underperforming seasons.

Tottenham rolling over for them and many other side’s playing really uncharacteristically badly against them (Brighton and Fulham two who spring to mind instantly).

They benefited from still having matches played when the queen died (no police to police games in Manchester)

All this gave them momentum and they played without any other teams really pressuring them.

Not too many injuries

Media frenzy about them and ref unconscious bias

Luckier than Leicester

Yeah true, Saka, Partey, Odegaard and White, that’s your best 3 players starting on the bench and White who is way better and more reliable than Tomiyasu.

Plus Sporting are a good, well coached team.
And Sporting have been very good too. I have not seen many PL teams beat our press the way they have

Our starting XI is a different beast altogether. This is a mish mash of first team and fringe players.

Let's see...

Starting GK - check

Rotation RB (starting RB came on after 8mins)
Starting RCB - check
Starting LCB - check
Starting LB - check

Starting CM - check
Rotation CM who's been starting a lot recently (starting CM came on after 65mins)
Rotation AM

Rotation RW (starting RW came after 65mins)
Starting CF - check
Starting LW - check

Sot not really a mish mash.

Arsenal better not bottle the league. Every time they have 2 games a week, it's like the world is coming to an end

feck sake my internet died so I turned it off on the hour mark. Missed that goal.

Viera has not impressed in any of the games I've seen so far. Odegaard on for him.

You just know Mourinho will school Arteta or ETH if they meet in the Europa.

Was watching the Roma Sociedad game and Roma are a bunch of diving, cheating pricks. Almost made me admire how good they were with the blatant shithousery from faking injuries, complaining, physically bullying opponents to Mou and his staff pressurising the refs. Dark Arts of the highest level.

Smalling and Jose have patched up and look very fond of each other these days.

Arsenal have had about 5 offsides where there was a foul or handball after the offside

You think taking Odegaard, Saka and Partey out doesn't affect the team's flow? In that case let's agree to disagree

Sporting missing Morita, starting CM. Also missing Coates, first name on the team sheet and club captain!
