We should play and win the Europa league. The total prize of 35-55m euros is very good and will allow us to invest more in the next summer too.Outside please. And let's focus on the league and new manager tactics training..
Or we get 6th and go win the UEL..
Europa yes, but I'd rather we finished 8th than play in the Europa Conference League. Every single game would be a painful reminder of failure, and there's no upside - anything other than winning it would be downright embarrassing, and even winning it would primarily remind us we finished 7th. Maybe that's a tad too negative, but that's how it feels. Also, not being in Europe would enable us to get by with less squad depth, and that would free up resources for improving the first XI.
True, I suppose the EL is better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick, and more games gives ETH more opportunity to try players and give them some time. To be honest, for a while I thought we were looking at 8th place!West Ham and Wolves have been working overtime to ensure we get the EL and not the conference, or 8th place.
Both teams have been on very poor losing runs.
Utd also need the revenue from the EL as missing out on a CL spot means we will be losing ££££m’s in revenue from our sponsorship deals, as well as from TV and Uefa income.
I'd rather we didn't play in Europe next season and just focused on rebuilding and the best league position possible to step up for following season and domestic Cup wins.
That's nothing I'd want, though. You know what? It just came to me that if we were to win the conference, we would become the first club to have won all the uefa competitions.
That's something I guess.
Would be some sort of consolation if we really did end up there. That's nothing I'd want, though.
We're likely going to end up in Europa again, and I think it's the worst of both worlds tbh. I would prefer to be in the Conference, play solely youngsters who need match experience and first teamers who have been struggling for minutes. Rest the proper starting XI or so and focus on the league. Playing twice a week, especially on Thursdays is detrimental. We also have a good bunch of youngsters. The Europa is harder to make that decision, because its slow more high profile, there's a reluctance to play youngsters and a feeling we should play our first teamers, but inevitably the first teamers don't play with as much desire and end up losing anyway. Plus in the last few years we've had too much deadwood in the first team who needed minutes so ended up playing these games, restricting opportunities for youngsters.
I would hope to see the likes of Elanga, Diallo, Hannibal, Shoretire, Garnacho, Garner, maybe Pellestri, Fernandez, Laird and a few others play consistently for us in Europe next season, regardless of whether it's Europa or the Conference.
Europa Conference is a real real possibility. West Ham, need 3 more points against either City or Brighton, and we are 7th, based on our shocking goal difference.
City will more than likely win, but the Brighton game is a real possibility, considering the home teams form at home.
Seem ironic saying that after yesterday, but it’s true nonetheless.
Every time we qualify for Europa all we see is posts saying it will be good to play the youngsters yet we never do
If Westham lose to City the only way the finish ahead of us is if we lose our last game.
We’re not finishing in the top four next season so a Europa campaign should not be sniffed at as it’s a passport into the cl. We definitely have more chance of winning Europa then finishing in the top 4 next season. There’s no way Ten Haag will be sending kids out unless we’re through with a few games left. Also there’s less games in Europa now than before. We're likely going to end up in Europa again, and I think it's the worst of both worlds tbh.
