Europa, Conference or bust?

Because we have so many young players I’m not against the Europa or Conference as long as we use it to blood them.

Garner, Hannibal, Amad, Garnacho etc should be starting every game in it.

Can’t wait for trips to Moldova, Kazakhstan and Armenia.

I’d rather have us not qualify for Conference or Europa League. Let’s focus exclusively on improving in the Premiership

It’s really easy to get tickets for Europa, conference probably more so. I didn’t catch the match today but on our form I wouldn’t worry about Europe in general.

I think we’ll end up in the Conference League which is what we deserve. If that happens I’d just play the kids and backups and let the u23 staff manage them, first team and manager just carry on as of we aren’t in it.

No European football and finishing as low as possible would probably be best for next manager as would make bar for improvement lower.

Don't mind us getting Europa tbh, all this concentrate on the prem is rubbish, if we have a competent manager then we'll have more than enough to play all the games, we might even win it.

Next season is the best season to have no European football. All the group stages have to be played by early Nov. There would be a big advantage to avoid the two lesser European competitions.

Next season is absolutely the worst season to have no European football if you've been following the recent changes to the CL format.

Watching Man United playing in Europe Conference League will really be the ultimate humiliation.

You know that most of our players will see the Europa league as beneath them and not bother putting in any effort. It'll be another humiliation when we get knocked out by some minnows giving it their all

Europa > nothing > Conference

Bust. 8th take the disgrace all summer off oppo fans. New manager has more training time next season with fewer games.

It might come off as arrogance but I’d rather no European football at all next season now. If Ten Hag is the next manager it would give him the time required to implement his style of play as he’ll get to spend more time on the training pitch. It also allows us to fully concentrate on the league and domestic cups.

I enjoy the Europa league. It’s at a level where even we can actually win games which is always enjoyable but has the added bonus that if we don’t I can just tell myself it’s the Europa league so who really gives a feck.

Assuming we win the group, the Europa/Conference League both have the same number of games as the Champions League now.

We haven't won anything since 2017 and have no reason to downplay any trophy.

Plus, you know, not wanting to qualify/take a competition seriously, so we can focus on finishing 4th to qualify for another competition that we'll probably get knocked out of at the last 16 stage anyway seems a bit daft

Someone just made a good point in another thread. Without any European football we'll have less games and therefore we can get rid of more players without needing to bring in loads to replace them. We'd be able to rely more on a core XI without worrying about burn out.

Yeah, this.

I also can’t fathom football fans preferring a scenario where their team plays a lot fewer games. Literally the only point of being a football fan is watching your team play football. Are people really got so consumed by bragging rights that they’ve completely forgotten why they support a football team?!

This is exactly my view. It gives us a great opportunity to give our best young players first team football, especially the group phase. Let’s face it we’re not good enough to compete for the CL at the moment but we are good enough to win the europa or the conference and winning a trophy right now would do us the world of good.

I don't want mid week football, particularly a tournament with so many games and so much travel.

If we're serious about installing a coach who will have a progressive, innovative style of play I want him to have as much time to implement his ideas as he can get.
One game a week is just fine for me next season, I want proper work on the training pitch

The following season we can attack everything we're in even if it's one of the europas but for now we need no excuses for the latest reset

Maybe that’s what some of these players need, to feel humiliated playing in a third rate European competition. Personally I’d be happy to see us in it if we win it. The game is about winning trophies and right now I’d take any trophy.

There’s loads of examples of managers turning things round while playing in Europe. It’s not some massive hurdle to improving a team. Besides, training is well and good but competitive matches are where a manager learns the most about his team. So the more matches the better.

Yeah, competitions like the Europa Conference can also be very good for confidence. Better to put 6 past some Latvian side on a Thursday than spend a week stewing over a laborious 2-2 at home to Fulham.

Id take it. If it gives some of the young ones on the fringe a chance to play and get integrated into the new gaffers ideas then no bad thing. Only so much can be simulated on the training ground, real match time will be important for the likes of Mejbril, Garnacho, Savage, McNeill etc.

The europa league group stage is a bit crap really, it was far more interesting and exciting when it was a straight up knockout competition jeopardy in every game. Although we never did well in it when it was that format.

I'd imagine the conference league will be even more crap, but in both cases if we get through and have knockout games to look forward to this time of year thats far far better than not having them.

Would obviously rather the europa league than the conference league but would deffo rather something than nothing.

I'm the same, and I don't like midweeks with no games. Not sure I'll feel the same about the conference league though.

Bust. Europa League isn't so bad in the knockouts but the group stages always bore the life out of me. If we qualify for the Conference then at least we'd just play the kids (I hope). We'd have to take the Europa more seriously.
