ETH and the new owners - how worried are you?

You'd have to be stupid to come in and get rid of Ten Hag now just to swing your knob around.
There's more of a concern that the two sides will clash over targets, but until Ten Hag and the recruitment team give you reason to doubt them, any new owner should be going out to satisfy their needs.

I hope it doesn't come up for a very, very long time, but hopefully we don't have shambolic situations like our last few appointments, where they were allowed to stay on well past their expiry date.

I'd only be worried if it was an American owner. American sports franchises are obsessed with "getting their guy" and being "aligned" in their thinking. ETH would only go if there were a big downturn in form with anyone else.

Any prospective new owner with half a brain cell would clearly see the huge progress we have made under Erik and would want to back him to fulfil his vision. Back him on what he needs at the training ground, the transfer budget, the stadium etc.

For the first time since Sir Alex’s retirement we have both the players & fanbase firmly right behind him so why disrupt that unless they want to become as hated as the Glazers are? Everyone is United and there is a feel good factor back at the club. That would be music to any new prospective owners ears and one less thing to worry about when they officially take over.

Can’t lie, I’m a bit concerned. If they remove ETH at the slightest obstacle it would not go down well with the fans to put it mildly.

I’m pretty certain ETH will remain, first of all he’s done better than anyone could have hoped for with little to work with. And secondly who is out there that is an even on the same level as him never mind any better, no I’m certain there will be no change in the manager……and even if there were we should be out in force on that one.

No disrespect intended but I think we're starting to see potential problems just to invent something to worry about.

Not worried at all. The biggest problem for United has been giving too much time to the manager. I hope that the new owners are ruthless and do not accept mediocricity (something that Glazers accepted). If ten Hag does not deliver, he has to go. I think he will deliver, but only time will tell. The last 4 managers were kept for 6 months longer than they should have.

He is already delivering, may even bring us a first trophy in six years next Sunday

Things been pretty shite this last decade hence why we are a bit paranoid about the situation

Not massively in the short term. Pretty sure whatever ETH thought he was stepping into under the Glazers can’t be as bad as how it would be under the new owners.

People always like to bring up Tuchel, but in general terms, new owners - particularly ones wanting to endear themselves to the fanbase following a controversial takeover, aren't likely to do anything other than be supportive. Its only when things go wrong and the club stops winning when they will be incentivized to act.

Not worried at all. ETH is the perfect manager to work with. He isn't the kind who clashes with leadership, and he's only focused on football and nothing else. He's also doing a great job and loved by the fans and the players. New owners will be delighted to have him and I think he'll be happy to work with anyone.

I don't think they would replace him, but I do worry that if it's someone like the Qataris, they might want big signings like MmmBop to make a statement, but who (like Ronaldo) might not fit into the manager's style, might be too big for their boots, and might upset the wage structure too.

Im not in the least bit worried.

Get the Qatar team in, let them get on with all they have promised, and I believe they will deliver and very professionally. I'm also convinced they will give EtH free-reign with the team and transfers, with long term stability and success their goal. I'm sure our awesome manager will deliver the required silverware in abundance.

Bring it on, season 2022/23 - one for the history books, new manager, new owners, new era and a proper team, one that we all feel we can get behind, and go places. it's about time!

I'm absolutely loving it!

No owner is going to come in and kick out the massively popular manager who has utterly turned us round in 6 months.

Not worried at all, EtH's position is safe.

Wouldn't be much of a forum if it were an echo chamber of positivity all the time.

Both bidders claim to be UNited supporters for aeons. If so they will have noticed the changes the past 10 yrs and also the progress over the past few months.

They may be rich but I doubt they are dumb enough to jeopardise their 6 billion quid investment by pivoting the current trajectory. The difference between Boehley and the potential new owners is that they would have been paying attention to United for the past few years. They know the difference.

Not worried at all.

If our new owners replace ETH we're in huge trouble. Not just because he's great, but it would show astounding stupidity on their part

If the new owners try to get rid, then we have much bigger problems than just losing ETH.

Why would they do it? City waited for a long time until they found Pep. PSG is still waiting for their Pep as Ligue 1 is not seen as a big achievement for them and we all knew their only way to glory is CL, they sacked the managers because theyre not satisfied with their CL achievement after assembling one of the most expensive squad.

Ten Hag is essentially already our own Pep and we have been waiting for ages as well. He simply needs backing including financial backing. They wouldnt sack him for failing to win CL since PL in itself is already a top league. If you buy City when they already have Pep, you will be the happiest owner in the world. ManUnited at the moment is in that position, but better.

I honestly think owners like Qatar are more likely to be walking on eggshells when it comes to keeping the fans onside, hence it being less likely they will feck about a very popular and top tier manager like Ten Hag.

It’s the owners who are less sensitive about their image you need to worry about.

Agreed. The American financiers would want to make money by splashing the cash and earning interest from the loans, while saddling the club with debt. It's a low-risk, monopolistic way to generate income long term. Chelsea fans got it so good with Abramovich they seem to be giving boehly and gang a free pass over this parasatic behaviour - which really isn't confined to just sports..

On the current trajectory I do not see any issue between ETH and whoever the new owners are, if he has a bad patch who knows how trigger happy they will be, or how controlling they will want to be, I cannot see it but there is always the possibility of oil and water

I agree on this.

The issue is by the time the deal gets done it could be the summer.

People say Tuchel is not a good comparison but he won Chelsea the CL, super cup, club world cup and got 2 finals in FA cup and League cup in the last 18 months.

After all that, he still got sacked.

Fan sentiment is massive and any owner coming in will be mindful of that. The Chelsea fans had started to turn on Tuchel and the results were poor, so it was an easy decision for Boehly to remove him. Unless i'm remembering it wrong?

A bit, he's the key to our success if they get rid of him it'll break me.

PSG is a shambles at the moment just to emphasize this point. Their sporting director came down from the stands yesterday to the touchline to undermine the manager. Absolute circus.

I shouldn't be concerned, but the sheer possibility of it just makes me nervous even though I know it would be a completely mental and insane thing to do.

my main concern is him walking because he doesn’t get as much say in how things are done

That's because the owner thinks he knows more than a CL winning manager. I don't think any of the candidate (SJR, Al Thani) is that crazy. Can they be trigger happy when things get tough and failing to meet their targets? maybe and we have to wait and see about that. But to think they know more than actual experts who breath football? I don't think so. Look at the players Chelsea signed, I doubt Potter walked into Boehly's office demanding so that he has 2 teams mid season. Boehly is the kind of owner we need to avoid. Rich but clueless and egoistical. It's Woodward all over again.

Agreed.

What we also need to remember is we are owned by the Glazers. The Glazers initally wanted investment for the training ground and stadium.

The news of Elliot worries me, that will be putting 2 of the worst owners together to ruin our club.

Erik Ten Hag would be a dream for new owners. Liked by the players, fans, whilst delivering on the pitch. Back him properly and he wins you trophies, thus increasing the value of the Club. If United are bought by Qataris, I expect us to have a new stadium in 3 years time, whilst having no debt and being fully compliant with FFP. Good times ahead.
