So what's that about 129m pounds. No way we pay that unless the Glazers have w@nked themselves silly over the superbowl.

So 150M it is!

We still don't know how Covid will affect the prices. If the mad prices before Covid are to be continued, 150m for a future Ballon D'Or winner looks fine compared to what was spent on Pogba, Dembele, Coutinho, Griezmann and even Neymar.

Every club in the world is in broadly the same boat financially.

I can’t see Dortmund wanting to hang onto him if there is indeed a release clause next year - they will cash in while Haalands stock is high and they can command the highest possible fee for him.

it goes without saying that we need to be in for him.

As for whether he would come here, it remains to be seen. But we can make him one of the main men and our star striker, moreso than most of our rivals.

Responding to various posts above, the way I would ask caftards to think about Haaland is not that his arrival would guarantee us major trophies, but that his arrival would — let me acknowledge this is speculation as you never really can be sure of anything happening in the future — at the very least substantially closes the gap between us and City. And I would add sends us through into the knockout rounds of the CL. Beyond that, the rest of the squad need to do their part to lift major trophies.

We’re a distant second in class, no one denies this. We have found it difficult to break down parked bus opponents. An own goal over West Ham just isn’t good enough in attack. Our performances in attack against Sheffield and West Brom were cringeworthy.

Neither Rashford nor Martial are clinical finishers. Maybe Greenwood will become one. But we know Haaland is one. He alone can’t get us over the top, but we know we cannot get over the top without a clinical finisher. If there are other strikers out there who can be had for much less let’s explore those options. But it’s not apparent that there are such options this summer.

Given that we probably won't be offloading anyone for decent money in the current financial climate, €150 will probably be our entire transfer budget. We could barely put the money together for Sancho so I have doubts about whether this could even happen.

I’d imagine that’s over and beyond our budget for this summer, think it’s unlikely we can afford him. Assuming Dortmund would be willing to sell this summer for a larger fee is Haaland going to be desperate to move if options are limited.

Once clause kicks in next summer he has much wider choice of where to go, another year at Dortmund might be more appealing than coming to us or Chelsea this summer.

will he go anywhere this summer?

I can envisage a scenario where him and his agent think if a clubs prepared to pay 120 million this year then they will pay it next year - 60m to dortmund, 40m to haaland and 20m to his agent

haaland effectivley gets an extra £770k a week to stay in Dortmund for a year and his agent gets £385k a week to do the rounds of all the interested clubs and negotiate some crazy wages

Difference in making a development move and "final" move.
Let's get one thing clear, there's no remote insinuation that Haaland is weighing up a final move in his career. He's 20 and brokered by Raiola. There's a strong chance he will wear a couple more shirts before he retires, at least.

Cavani is becoming a waste of a squad place.

Time to go all out for Halaand. This club has signed too many stop gap strikers and it hasn't worked once

Yeah I agree. I also think realistically Ole would have identified 2-3 positions in the squad he'd like strengthened at minimum, so even if we could just about afford it I doubt we would anyway.

Football doesn’t work like this in reality. People often speak as if there is no financial benefit in getting a player for free or less money, as there is some sort of fixed amount that MUST be spent on each player and it either goes to the club or the agent.

If this were the case, signing Haaland this summer or next summer makes no difference to any club (except Dortmund). There’s a reason why he’ll likely have more suitors next summer, and that’s because the club will have to spend less money.

Havertz was said to have been a buy that Roman wanted, not Lampard. There are rumblings that Roman really wants Haaland. If true, he will pay what is necessary for a shiny new toy. Chelsea making top 4 would probabaly need to happen to even have a chance.

I guess Werner could always play fullback.

That just isn't at all the way that somebody like Woodward is thinking about his job and his options.

Like everybody else, United has lost a massive amount of money in the last year and has consequently seen debt increase and cash reserves dwindle significantly. They are far better off than most other clubs (including mine) but the club is still run and operated as a business, operating within the constraints of its revenue flows, cash reserves, appetite for increasing debt, and additionally the desire to reassure investors since its publicly traded. Woodward doesn't have a magic money tree he can shake and have £150m pounds fall down at his feet.

No I agree completely. I was just saying that whatever you'd be willing to spend to get him, I think you should be willing to spend 150% of that (or whatever) to get him if the alternative is that he goes to City.

If he was willing to come last january when we looked a mess, of course he'd come now. If we can put the package together to get him? That's where it most likely falls down for me.

I think it is proving that Werner plays best in a strike partnership from the left. Hopefully he comes around to playing in the EPL, if he does, it would be quite the combination of him and Haaland..... I need to stop, it is starting to get to fantasy posting.

Is Haaland worth 75 million a season? no. BVB are stupid to think any club would pay 150m when they can get him for 75m the next season. The best they can get is a 120m and in this difficult times I dont think there are many clubs would have that kind of money. If we sell Martial and Pogba, maybe we can pay 120m.

Can't wait for a full summer of Haaland rumors like Sancho last year then last week of the window we activate Cavani's one year extension and move on.

The stocks he sold are worth that much, not to mention the dividends they take each year. If they wanted to buy Haaland they could, but they never invest their money in our Club. Leaches.

would you invest your own money into a football club? You might because you are a fan, not a business owner.

we lost the right to take the moral high ground when it comes to owners the day we listed on the stock exchange.

We fans need to set up a gofundme for this. There is estimated to be 142 million Man Utd fans in the word. So we just need to throw in 2 pounds each to make this happen.

Have you watched us play? Rewatch the game vs West Ham. Focus on all the balls that are played into the box in dangerous positions. Look at how we never have a CF in the right place at the right time. And then watch Dortmund the next time they play and focus solely on Haaland and what he does for 90 minutes. He is on a different planet compared to our forwards.

This idiotic "we don't create chances" narrative is proof a lot of posters have no idea what's actually happening on a football pitch.

Chances created per game this season:
1. City 11.7
2. Chelsea 11.3
3. Liverpool 10.9
4. United 10.9
5. Leeds 10.6
11. Arsenal 8.3
13. Spurs 7.9

Thanks for that, Samid. I think the poster is just echoing a certain youtuber who has been pushing this narrative pretty aggressively lately. To say there is no point in signing Haaland because we don´t create chances for our nr. 9, is as meaningful as saying there is no point in signing a defender because we can´t defend.

It goes well with a lot the other gibberish that you´ll get served on that channel, though, such as "Greenwood is so left-footed".

Yeah fourth isn't bad on that list considering the top three have all got a proper right side

What's changed is that he's gone to another level and everyone wants him.
