Erling Haaland

There's no chance he'll be coming here. We had our chance when he left Molde and Salzburg, but now, the Ole-connection is not that relevant anymore when he can choose between all the best clubs in the world. His dad having a Leeds/City-background is why this transfer will never happen.
Raheem Sterling was a United fan yet ended up playing for our 2 biggest rivals.

We should go all out and sign him, he's the striker we are missing! His agent won't be a problem if we're winning. Let's face it he'll start 99% of games

If this is a legit briefing from the club I would call it mindgames/negotiation from Ole/the board.

It signals that we won't just take pure BS going forward, especially when we are doing well. Raiola either needs to soften up to continue to get paid from us in the future, or his players need to dump him if he's unwilling to change.

Either way the timing is great, this should make it harder for him to make any fuzz this week before the big game in case he planned to pipe up after Pogba's performance yesterday.

We're using his own tricks in the media against him.

If you asked his dad which club he probably dreamt of playing for while he was plying his trade, do you think he'd pick Leeds or City or would it have been United or Liverpool?

He'd pick Arsenal. Don't think I understand your point here. City is one of Erling Haaland's favorite clubs, his dad/advisor has played there, and if it's between us and City I think it'll be an easy choice for him.

He comes from a privileged family due to his father’s career. Surely his father’s influence would be more important than anything Raiola might say to the kid?
On the other hand I guess you can never have enough money ...

City are playing false 9 and are arguably looking like they finally dont need Aguero aswell so why do they need Haaland?

United turning to play like a big club again on the transfer window when he is looking to leave/available, has some interesting players to play with like Bruno & Rashford, Maybe even Amad or the crossing of Shaw - I dont see why he wouldnt come to us if we wanted him.

Barcelona and Madrid look like a shadow of their former self that are going to need a rebuild, does Haaland want to be that rebuild or join a club that fits him nearer to the final pieces of the puzzle to winning trophies - I think it might be the last option.

That's silly.

More like Martial + £50million. Minimum. I can't see Dortmund being intrigued by your deal at all.

Haaland is £100m, even in this market (at least)

wouldn’t get anywhere near £50m for Martial.

When does his release clause kick in? Summer 2022? Could be tempted to cash in this year.

The chances of this deal happening died the day Keane's studs connected with his dad's leg.

Forget about Raiola, just sign Haaland. He is exactly what we are missing. A clinical striker who can convert half chances and not missing sitters week in week out like Martial and Rashford.

If we can deal with Raiola for so long for Pogba surely we can deal with him for Haaland.

Why do people peddle them same shite over and over again. Lad very much admired Ole. What happened 20 odd years ago to his dad will have no relevance. He was ours for the taking if the club would have agreed to the sell on clause.

I said it in the Riola/Pogba thread. Utd will not deal with Riola again after his nasty quote on the eve of the RB game. Pogba is performing because he wants to impress his new fans after he gets transferred in the summer. Haaland will NOT become a Utd player. Lingard is also on the way out, partly because he is weak, mostly due to his Riola connection (all be it an historic one).

Hmmm we will see next summer whether Utd still feel the same way

What do we think about this tweet

It's very possible that this is part of an effort to split Haaland from Raiola. (Might even be a hail mary for Pogba as well.)

The only reason this might even be within the barest sliver of the realm of possibility is because of Ole.

Among his potential buyers:

Real Madrid - they will go all in for Mbappe, and we all know Mbappe wants to leave PSG sooner rather than later, and Real Madrid would be his prefer destination

Barca - they are broke

City - maybe a good replacement for Augero, but does he fit into Guardiola approach?

Man Utd - He may wants to rejoin Ole, but is it still possible for us to do any future business with Raiola again?

Liverpool - Perfect fit for him and Pools IMHO

PSG - I assume he may not want to join another team from farmer league, but who knows, PSG have all the cash he wants, and could provide all the goals he needs to further promote his brand

Juventus - They may have an outside chance, Raiola likes to do business with Juventus, and Juventus could surely find ways to afford him, when they could afford Ronaldo and De Ligt.

Bayern - Perfect long term replacement for Lewandoski, but as Lewandoski still at his very peak, I don’t think it would happen within next 2 years

Maybe I am wrong but feels like the fanbase are divided on signing him obviously due to Mino's involvement, the only thing I would say is we could do with a younger no 9 than Cavani so if not Haaland who should we go for in that position

I'm officially onboard this train.

He is an absolute beast of a player, still very young and will become one of the best strikers in the world for many years.

We should sell Martial and do whatever it takes to get Haaland.

Sancho isn't a priority, we have Greenwood, Diallo and Pellistri who are all massive up and coming talents in that position.

Yes, we will have to deal with Raiola but I don't think we can avoid that. He will keep getting more and more star names on his books.

I hate Raiola as much as the next guy but this guy is too good to miss out on IMO. I love Martial, but we won't get to where we used to be with Martial as our striker. He's too inconsistent and lacks that drive. Rashford will improve (I hope). Get Haaland, a proper RW, a good DM & CB and we should be competing for the league. Backup RB and CM (if Pogba leaves) in the later windows

Buy Sancho this summer, if Pogba stays he stays, if not replace him too.

Haaland won't leave until Summer 2022.

Get Agent Sancho to get Haaland here.

Greenwood is not a right winger

Riaola has been invited by Utd to discuss a possible contract extension for Paul Pogba. Obviously Utd know this wont happen as Paul doesnt want to sign an extension. However it is an olive branch from Utd as they know they will need to keep Riaola onside of they want to get Haagland to Utd in the future (last weeks transfer window podcast ala Duncan Castles).

Regardless i am of the opinion as with others that Haagland next stop will be either City, PSG or Bayern. City to replace Aguero as they have missed him this season and Gabriel Jesus isnt up to scratch. PSG to replace Mbappe if he doesnt sign an extension and gets his move to Madrid somehow (how they finance that i have no idea). Or Bayern as Leodowski long term replacement.

I think what I posted above, this is us playing their game. Of course we would want Haaland, and ideally keep Pogba as well, but we won't allow Raiola to keep whinging, he has to alter his approach.

I've said this a few times previously.

If they sell Haaland to anyone, they need a replacement.

If they sell him for £100m+ CASH, clubs they buy from will try to ramp up prices.

If we give them Martial plus £40m-£50m, they have a replacement and can take their time using the cash carefully. Won't get held to ransom and stick to their model of buying cheaper players they hope become stars/can sell for loads.

Win, win? Yes, they lose Haaland but simply can't see him staying there for more than a couple of years max so a deal where they get a replacement and cash to boost other positions could be a deal they'd see as acceptable.

The danger is City (Pep changes model.. unlikely?), PSG (if they sell and Haaland happy to have a few years winning the French title.. hmmm) or Bayern (might suit Haaland but not Dortmund who must know Bayern will look to get some shit cheap deal) or Juve (would have to sell Ronaldo for a lot... no takers).

I think we've got a good chance with a part ex of Martial, Ole link and a strong league finish this season might sell our ability/ambition to him (though working with fat man is grim).

He'd take us up another level where we'd seriously challenge again... he's that good. Yes, we could look at wingers, a CH, a Def Mid but if I could have one player, I'd use every penny of our transfer budget to get Haaland.

Haalands dream/goal is to play in the PL. He is not going to Juve, PSG or Bayern. Barca can't afford him. Real Madrid is the only club outside PL that might tempt him. Next stop will be either Man Utd, City, Real Madrid or Liverpool.

Hi guys.

Haaland would without a doubt elevate us to the next level. He's already carrying Dortmund and he singlehandedly extended Favre's time as a Dortmund manager with a year.
And really think some of you are underestimating Ole's pulling power. I found this article from the Norwegian newspaper VG from 2017, where both Haaland Sr and Jr shows great respect for OGS (Google translate):

DAD HÅLAND CHOSEN SOLSKJÆR TO TAKE CARE OF HIS SON'S SUPERTALENT

Alf-Inge Håland was fully determined that Ole Gunnar Solskjær would take care of his son's huge talent when several top clubs were interested a year ago.

I was in dialogue with Ole Gunnar Solskjær, and traveled with Erling to Molde. But he had to make the final choice himself, says Alf-Inge Håland.
If the son follows in his father's footsteps and ends up in the Premier League, he is not very optimistic.

The eye of the needle into that league has become very narrow. But it is a dream that many people have, says Alf-Inge Håland.
On the same question about the 17-year-old's possible Premier League future, Solskjær is far more positive.

Yes. Yes. Yes. He can do that. If we manage to keep him injury-free and he can develop in peace and quiet, then I am sure he can play there, says the Molde coach, who makes no secret of the fact that young talents often disappear very quickly abroad these days :

The football world today has changed. Norwegian boys who play at this level are always interesting. If there are now any big clubs, we can not rule anything out.

Solskjær pulls on the smiley face and jokingly says:

If it is, for example, Manchester City or Leeds United, then I say no. If it's Manchester United, then I say yes.
Afraid of predation Alf-Inge Håland points out to VG that he has seen far too much predation on young Norwegian football talents. It was assurances from Solskjær and the system around him that brought his son to Molde.

It becomes very fast too great a burden on young players. Junior matches, B-team matches and A-matches. In addition to training and education. Erling has an older brother who had his football career ruined due to strain injuries. And the focus is on what must not happen to Erling, says Alf-Inge Håland.
Molde's hottest 17-year-old admits that his father's advice was important when the club choice fell on MFK.

It was dad who helped choose Molde. He has faith and thinks it is going well, says the tight-lipped striker to VG.

How important is Solskjær for your development?

He is absolutely important in every way. He has played in the Premier League and won the Champions League. You will learn from the best, and I learn every day.

What are you learning?

How to be a striker.

What is the most important thing he has taught you?

Score goals, says Erling Braut Håland.

False 9 is defo something short term. They would be fine if they were banging goals left and right but for sure they will try to sign someone for that striker spot
