Hope he knocks the scouse out.
I get why people don't want Haaland. We have other priorities and so far our attack has been good. But I doubt the club or anybody in this forum would be all over Haaland if he didn't look like such a generational talent. I don't like using that word but it is what it is
The boy can play with Martial too by the way. If we really want to go back to the 'United Way' then we need a striker and a 9.5. Think Cole and Cantona or Yorke and Cole. Maybe it's time we stop pussying around with formations and go back to the classic 442 with one striker as the playmaker. I've always thought as Martial as a budget Eric so i'm convinced he can play that role and that like Eric he'll make runs that are useful instead of 'meaningless'. It'd be a risk and wouldn't fully work until we signed 2 midfielders who can both defend and play passes but why not just go balls to the wall attacking?

I’m pretty sure Haaland has more focus on finding a club to continue his development in than finding a club who is challenging for silverware for now. He needs to find a big club, like us, where he gets regular minutes, and lets be honest: our attacking lineup would be the easiest to break in to among the big clubs in Europe right now. If Salzburg manages to beat Liverpool and go through to the 1/8s, I think we will let him stay there on loan for the rest of the season.
PS! Jardel and Kezman were both good strikers in Portugal and Netherlands, but none of them were teenage sensations though. Jardel came to Portugal when he was 23 and went to Bolton when he was 30 after spending most of his last season in Sporting eating and partying in Brazil with a kneeinjury and bad form. Had a great career up to that though. Kezman came to PSV in his early 20s and left for Chelsea when he was 25. He never had the insane numbers Haaland is delivering now anytime in his career either.

He's like a juggernaut; even if defenders know what he wants to do, they'll have to physically match him or use some serious pre-emptive play to stop him.

He's got a much bigger reputation now than he did earlier in the campaign, so no doubt a plan will be put in place to stop him, either by killing supply lines, or doubling up on him. It will be good to see how he then problen solves.
His aggression and persistence stands out - his development will be very interesting indeed.

It's quite clear that, in-game, Haaland's pace, particularly acceleration, is on another level.
Lukaku picks up speed eventually; Haaland has the zip usually associated with shorter, squat strikers.

Haaland will choose playtime and development over CL football. There is no rush from his camp to go "Established Star. Now" on the next club. They chose Salzburg over Juventus for this very reason less than a full year ago.
About todays game. Just Buy him. And buy him immediately in January, don't haggle.
I can't recall where I heard or read this, but I heard that he's got something like 25+ consecutive penalty goals. He's started giving away penaltie to his teammates lately so they can "Join in the positive spirit". The Salzburg manager has had to put his foot down and remind everyone that Haaland is the designated penalty taker. I like this anecdote because it speaks of him as a team player

Would just like to point out that the big defender on his back just gave up at some point. Not because of laziness, because he knew there was nothing he could do anymore. Too big, too strong. He is like that supernova version of Bale when he was running rampant.
I've been saying this for ages. We saw a 4-4-2 on Sunday when Ole took off Perriera for Greenwood(right after we scored our first goal). At that point we were lined up like so:

And when we did that, we scored 2 goals in just a few minutes against "the best" defense in the league
I would love to see us go back to the way that SAF used to play. And that was a 4-4-2 for most games other than we would switch to a 4-3-3 (or 4-5-1) for the big games, especially in Europe

He looks like an amazing talent and is built like a tank. Sort of a young lukaku with a similar goal scoring instinct but better athleticism and ball sense. By all means sign him up.
I really hope though that this does not end up impacting our need to sign a RW and at least one CM (2 if pogba leaves). Not sure what is the state of our budget cause ideally the lukaku money should be reinvested here, but not sure that's how it works.

Unfortunately haven't seen much of this lad - how is his first touch compared to a Berba and RvP and how is he at tracking back and helping out in defensive transitions and defending set pieces?

Not as tall but he has alot of Van Nistelrooy about him. I am quickly coming to the table in say he is a must have future star. I would also be looking at his teammate Dominik Szoboszlai as an AM.
I'll prefer we buy their coaching and scouting setup to be honest.

The closest I can think of is actually another Norwegian. A young John Carew. But he was clumsy on the ball, and had a very poor finish. But in terms of speed , strength and size, he was something very special in his younger days.
