Saw that he follows United on twitter (only team that he hasnt played for, other teams he follows are Molde and Red Bull Salzburg). Has to mean something, right???
Tbh I'd be surprised if we don't get him. Seems a no brainer.

How anyone can compare him to the Lukaku we got is crazy imo. Forget about the goals even, for a moment, look at all those great flicks and first touches where he leaves defenders in the dust. To all of you who are asking about his technique, watch this video. He has an explosive quality about him which I think makes him more suitable to the prem than many other young forwards as well.

We've got a set budget and need at least 1 or 2 CMs and a RW. So yeah, it is either/or.

We are not in the position to sign quality players we were 3-4 years ago. They will look elsewhere at first in many occasions. So if possible World Class prospects like Sancho or Haaland get available due to personal relations or disputes with their current manager, you don’t pass the opportunity, because we also lack in other positions.

You buy them. Secure your quality players, show ambitions and then you look for AM, DM an so on.

Agree. Also during our "barren" years under SAF atleast we had the prospect of watching Rooney and C.Ronaldo develop whilst our team had several glaring weaknesses. Not saying Haaland and Sancho would develop like those two, hardly anyone does, but atleast they have the talent to excite us and give us a glimpse of a potential bright future. Those two are must signings if available.
 
I doubt we will buy Sancho, Haaland and Maddison. Most certainly one of those three. Possibly two but no way all three.
 
As much as I would like Haaland - I just don't get why we are not more heavily linked to Berge. Would be awful to see him end up at Chelsea or Liverpool. And he is easily available in january - probably for £30-40 million

The reason I am happy with his link is because he is heavily left footed.

We have a squad full of right footed players & we need to add more to build a good symmetry of a squad capacity.

Tbh , its an ever bigger jump for him than Haaland. He is not ready for the best PL teams for at least a couple of years.

No one thinks we have a limitless budget. But you push the boat out if a player comes along. It'll mean that a future budget gets reduced but if you get a player of the type you'd target in the summer now then that's worth it. I'm very sure we can make allowances and move certain funds around if a can't miss target comes along that we didn't anticipate. Doubt it's not flexible.

We have a transfer fee from the Lukaku-deal to add to our normal transferbudget. That combined should be enough for Sancho and Haaland if Glazers are ambitious on the transfer market. In my opinion we should go for a record sale of Pogba in the summer if he doesn’t sign a new contract, and then go all out for Maddison and a DM. Perhaps go for the cheaper option of Eriksen and a DM.

Disagree. He’s regularly our top performer against better and worse national teams, meaning he is good when attacking and defending. If he stops getting injured all the time he’s a sure bet to become a very good CM, for any team, after that it’s really a matter of luck, style and preference of his manager.
 
IMO we need a ten badly. Lingarrd is lingarrd. Mata is old and Perriera works hard but is not good enough creativity wise.

Unless we change to a 4-3-3 and skip the ten and just use Pogba there as a MF/ten hybrid.

Agreed. If we bought Berge in Januay, him and McTominay could share playing time, and push each other to improve, until a potential Pogba department in half a year, or 1,5 years, and after that, they could play together.

If we sign Haaland, we might not need to sign Sancho, as we could take players like Ryan Fraser on a free, who could be a very good backup to Rashford and Daniel James. We could use the balance to sign a midfielder and whatever else we need.

De ligt followed everyone, reason why I'd say it's different is that Haaland only follows teams he played for and United for whatever reason. Also no brainer signing for all parties.

Haaland isn't a player like Lukaku, why are you still harping on drawing parallels to a disappointment?

You can't be a striker if you don't hold the ball up. Neither Rashford nor Greenwood can do that at the moment. Greenwood has been playing on the RW even for youth teams this season. He's contributed with goals from the right for first team. Same goes for Rashford from the left for both Man Utd and England. Yet, when they were moved to the number 9 position, they hardly got involved. I consider them wide men because that is the evidence I have seen. Striker position is about scoring goals and bringing others into the game. Martial shows that part of the game even though he's inconsistent with it.

Our net spend over the last two years has been less than 60m average per year. It's no way unrealistic to expect 300m net spend over the next two to three windows. CL qualification itself pays a sizable portion of it. That would buy us a RW, a striker and an a decent creative player.

Yeah I got that. My tongue was firmly in my cheek too. Your original point though about us not having the budget. We havent replaced Lukaku. That cash must be somewhere. It shouldn't impact funds available for other positions.

Must be the internet making the words 'nonsensical point' seem serious. Fair enough.

As for us having funds put aside, I'm not convinced. And how much would at least 1 top central midfielder, right winger and centre forward cost? I just don't see that happening in 2 windows, so I'd prioritise the midfielder and RW. Buying someone purely because they're promising and available doesn't strike me as overly strategic planning.
 
So, the question now seems to be - Haaland or Pochettino? :D I wonder who has the stronger fanboy club.

Joao Felix went for a stupid fee too, although granted Portuguese league isn't as mediocre as the Austrian one.

Thing is in this modern market you know you'd recoup the fee in a worst case scenario. Unless he becomes absolutely diabolical which I don't think is likely.
