Don't know much about the lad other than what I've read but it sounds like it's worth jumping on and giving the lad the opportunity to play for a CL/EL team with good youth development like Ajax or PSV as others have suggested.

Quite likely that one of those type teams just signs him themselves and then sells on in a couple of years for a big profit.

no idea how talented the boy is but seems young enough to be developped well further. Won't be expensive either and probably can develop another year in Molde on loan if we don't decide to take him straight to the reserve team..

Didn't his dad pretty much rubbish his chances of coming here?

Wasn't Odegaard also the real deal. What happened with him?

He’s still young. However, Ødegaard was/is a promising technical player from the Norwegian league, which is about the same as saying a Japanese player is big and strong. The most technically gifted players in Norway are Championship level players at best. Our forte (if Norway has such a thing in football) is, and has been for some time, tactical awareness and physics strength.

Not his fault at all . It's the people that overhype young players and make them believe they have already made it that are the real problem.

I don't think that's a problem for Ødegaard, he seems very level-headed. He was always going to need time though to develop physically. I don't expect him to be a world-beater, but he stands a very good chance of becoming a quality player. He's shown flashes of his potential in the Dutch league. I think he'll need another 2-3 years.

I think him signing for Madrid at 15 was a mistake. Not sure if he got any game time at all, nor what he was expecting to get.

I don't think he signed for Real Madrid thinking he'd get to play for the first team in the short term though. He probably knew very well he'd be playing for Castilla and go out on loan.

He's fallen off the radar a bit lately though, and maybe that's a good thing, but on the other hand he needs to start showing more consistency.

I read in a tabloid that after the revamp the number of scouts was between 50-60 - think that was almost a year ago
wow that's quite a lot actually, I thought like 20, but perhaps saw it in FM. Nevertheless in total it must be quite some money in salaries, including all the costs... but makes you wonder why are we not signing the next Messi and end up with Fellaini...

There is no next Messi.

How dare he not be world class at the grand age of 19.
Think he couldn't even break in Heerenven and was benched at some point? I know he's young and all, but there are lads at his age that caught up with the initial hype and even surpassed him.

Perhaps it would be better to restrain high expectations regarding Odegaard for the time being. He's still immensely talented and even outside the Norwegian league, he still has a very high level of technical capability. Not all players come into their own in their teens. In fact, it's worth pointing out that the many who do explode onto the scene early do so because they have a physical advantage that allows for the spectacular even before they find any consistency, whereas, a slower and more technical no.10 usually has to allow for time and consistency until their obvious ball-skills can compensate for their physical short-comings.

Meh, strikers from Molde are usually rubbish. Name one good striker to come out of Molde...

And Solskjaer has won it!

Erling himself said that his fathers history will not be an issue when that was speculated.

Juventus was watching last match btw.
Solskjær said in a recent interview that Erling isn't the worlds biggest United fan (no shit, he's a leeds supporter), but just like Solskjær was a Pool supporter that changes fast. When you work with a top club that club becomes your favorite if you're having a good time.
