First half was great, so credit there. Second half, particular with the subs, the game just died. Why weren’t we going for it in the last 15 minutes? Bizarre how we just passed it around the back before going back to the keeper every time. Was Martinez trying to make a point by holding onto the ball forever and never going forward?

This was one of Ten Hag's better games as manager. So many positives to take from it even though we didn't win.

We look to be going in the right direction. Patience.

People always find excuses for him. His subs were horrific
People always fecking cry about the negatives and refuse to look on the bright side of a really positive 60 or so mins which with better finishing would’ve had this thread really quiet.

It’s a frustrating 0-0 but there’s more than enough there to suggest we might be consistent with the positives.

Its tedious that even in positive matches we have so many with knives out. It was so much better than anything we saw last season. Yet because his subs were shite and we didn’t win we all have to cry and nobody can say anything different.

EtH had a good game plan for this game. Go full attack, get a lead then bring on the defensive minded players to secure the win. But the players let him down in the first hour with their terrible finishing.

However, the fact that we could not progress the ball at all without Eriksen on the pitch is a black mark. This has been my primary concern from last season. Our build up play requires precise passing and press resistance. When Mazraoui showed that press resistance by dribbling with the ball, we managed to get forward. But without that, Licha just dithered with the ball for like 10 mins straight from 70+ mins. No one took risk because no one knew what to do. We don't have a system where our midfielders are constantly moving to create space. It was horrible to see the game just drift away into a draw.

I think teams are so drilled in passing round the back that 94th min and needing a goal they're still at it. Can't help themselves.

Surely at some point he has to produce actual results, no? Or is "we outplayed Palace" good enough now?

We're currently 11th
Most of our fans are still living in delusion that we will get better and Eth will be like fergie. The results are clear as day that we are so far off the pace and throwing another season just to give him another chance.

I really hope that this is the case. I wouldn’t be surprise if it’s not though. We look better than last season, but last season was so bad that a team of 11 year olds would have looked better.

Yeah, I for one am sick of the “we should’ve scored 2/3” but didn’t and didn’t win. Again. All teams miss chances, we should have won tonight comfortably. So disappointing.

Yup. It’s a definite improvement in performances but still not good enough. We can’t just rely on being decent.
The plan should be long term though. We’re coming off 10 years of mismanagement with new owners.

The main issue with ETH is he’s still making the same mistakes as previous seasons. No matter what the improvement in the performance as the likes of Amad, Garnacho, Mainoo get better, or the improvement in the age and profile of players signing, the manager could end up holding us back.

And if Palace take one of their chances we easily could've lost. They had 2 cut back chances where the player could've easily taken multiple touches and slotted it home easily. Goes both ways. Fact is we are in 11th right now, and with a city win tomorrow will already be closer to the bottom then the top of the table.

Brilliant first 60 minutes or so. We played fantastic football. For that, you have to credit Ten Hag.

Dropped off a cliff for the last half an hour - after the substitutions. Lost all momentum and had no urgency. De Ligt and Martinez stood there and passed the ball to each other for minutes on end to the point of it being comical. Bruno just started passing the ball to Henderson. It was baffling, and a little bit of a disgrace to be honest. And for that, you have to point the finger at Ten Hag.

First 45 were fantastic and we were extremely unlucky not to be beyond the horizon, but that last 30 mins was soul destroying. No bravery to try and win it

Also the fact we never replaced Eriksen and what he did for us in ETH's first season, and in the first half today.

Bruno can't do it. Casemiro and Ugarte cant do it. Mainoo can't do it.
Can Mount do it?

His subs are a huge concern. The only sub to make today was bringing on Ugarte. Yet his first sub was to bring on Rashford and completely ruin our play.

Ideally, then could have found a way to bring on Hojlund without taking out one of the two wingers. So most likely for Fernandes and play Zirkzee as a support striker

Not quite. I just take unserious posts equally unserously.

If you were serious then I guess I just feel sorry for you

Very dramatic. Luckily I'll judge his lack of attacking play over the course of his tenure and not a good 45 minutes against Palace (in which we didn't score). 7 points from 5 played is awful.

Nah, it’s because we don’t score every chance, opposition keepers always play extra well against us, injuries and so on.

11th after 5 games is nothing to scoff at, we're still more than capable of going on a good run and equalling last seasons 8th place finish. Give him the rest of the season to finish the job

All this we played well but were unlucky is okay in the 1st season, by now we need performances and results.

Palace have lost one of their key players, have been in poor form and had injuries and we still can't beat them.

This problem will keep happening, we just are never consistent enough under ETH. We may get a good result or two, but will almost certainly mess up after that.

Two wins, two defeats and a draw with neutral goal difference.

The only league wins against dead certain to be relegated southampton and narrowly edging Fulham who will probably be around us in the table come the end of the season if nothing changes.

We look a proper mid table side already, which is as good as its getting with this prat in charge.

We were and yet we did not. Should have won is not good enough. We needed those 3 points and we did not get it.

Sure, but that's an issue of poor finishing, we were set up well and it led to us deserving to win comfortably.

I'm not even necessarily ten Hag in, but holy feck these posts are embarrassing and brainless. He got it right today and we should've won comfortably. Some absolutely moronic comments in here

Our fans are weird when it comes to managers. Different user names but with Jose, Ole and ETH we've had fanatics who were convinced they were doing a good job.

It's a cultural problem at the club and the fanbase is the root cause of it.

Despite being a huge, rich club - our potential is severely capped because of the clubs own fanbase.

Ask yourself this, if we landed on a Roberto Di Matteo who fluked himself a CL title or a league title like Ranieri, how far would the club have to sink before we would sack that person? Relegation?

You either have not been a United fan for very long or are totally being sarcastic? What position is Dalot playing again? Cause quite frankly there were at least 10 - 15 times the ball should have been played to the outside and he was in the middle. ETH has no clue how to win in this league.

No ones denying the point tally isn't good enough, but to think we only had some reasonable attacks in the first half is stone cold bollocks. Perhaps becuase we were strangling Palace for 45mins and weren't as dominating in the second you think this. But we had chances in the second half too, Bruno is fecking terrible for us right now, the way he missed a gaping net the way he did.
