Eredivisie 2024/25

They were and then PSV started losing or drawing a lot of games. PSV gave the title away. PSV had to win against Ajax today to make it interesting but since they lost, i dont see them make up those 9 points
Ajax still has quite a lot of points with only 2 losses and 4 draws. So it's not that PSV gave it away, it's just that Ajax kept going and going.

Its only 9 months ago many Dutch pundits were claiming Joey Veerman would be a good successor for Toni Kroos at Madrid... Been horrible in every (semi-) big game since..

That is also true. Ajax has been on a great run. However PSV was ahead of Ajax and they dropped lots of points after the winterbreak. The lost points because of drawing against Willem II (16th), Utrecht (6th), AZ (6th), NEC (12th) and lost to Go Ahead Eagles (7th) and Zwolle (14th). They also got knocked out of the cup by Go Ahead Eagles. PSV offered the title to Ajax after the winterbreak and Ajax took it.

In my opinion, PSV has the better squad too. Look where Ajax came from, last season they were last in the league (also because they played less games) but everyone was still laughing at Ajax. Now i cant see them giving away the title anymore. Ajax/Farioli are very impressive but PSV/Bosz should be embarrassed.

If we beat PSV at home we might still finish 2nd. Would be almost an even bigger surprise than Ajax winning it at this stage.

I'm sure Noa Lang will turn up against us again though.

Twat.

I'll start believing in this when you will beat AZ away.. Would be the ultimate demise of PSV..

That's true, but Ajax has rarely been good and rarely won convincingly this season, while PSV was pretty impressive for part of the first half of the season. So it's reasonable to be surprised that PSV lost so many points after the winter break and that Ajax has just kept on winning.

Ajax winning the league this year is one of the most bizarre eredivisie championships ever...

Not sure what we've been feeding Paixao lately, but we should keep at it.

Only 2 points behind PSV now.

Maybe not as mental as Ajax winning the league, but should we also pass PSV, Bosz has accomplished one of the biggest league implosions in Dutch football history.

Question to those that follow Eredivisie

Been reading a little bit about Peter Bosz and his career and style of football intrigues me a bit, not just because he is bald and worships Cruyff. From the outside without having followed him nearly enough is it safe to say that he is bordering on a world-class coach that never seem to stick the landing fully in any of his jobs? If he didn't bottle the Eredivisie this year you'd assume he would have been hot property again this summer the way things were going.

How would a coach like him fare with the best squad in the league? Would he be someone that could rise to manage for example City if Pep were going? Because looking at his career blindly I kind of see a manager that could do great things with great players, but I'd be very interested in the insight of those who have followed him.

I also know he has his fair share of failures, but I really liked his Leverkusen team, and just always thought he was bit of a budget Pep that never really got given the right squad to elevate, but often decent and young squads he wasn't special enough to win any titles with. Then he seemed to make PSV pretty unplayable but the last few months seems to have soured it a bit

But in this relatively barren managerial market where it is hard to say who is going to be next elite managers, based on his career he is certainly someone I'd have a look at as a DoF for a club with money to spend and wanting fun style of play

His high seems even higher than Arne Slot, but he doesnt seem like a stable manager. Seems like he only has one plan.

Slot seems most rounded out of our 3 Dutch baldies. He's never failed anywhere and has done great everywhere.

I think Bosz would be great with an amazing team without weaknesses - like peak Manchester City. If everyone had infinite stamina and motivation, it'll work out great. But such teams don't exist below that level (and not even really on that level), which is why always falls just short of being amazing at his clubs, and will therefore also not get to coach a real top-class team. He just leaves too many gaps defensively.

I just noticed there are only 4 points between numbers 8 and 15 in the league, with the clubs in 12th to 15th all having a game in hand. If they all win that one (unlikely, but still theoretically possible), the gap between 8th and 15th is just 1 point. That's pretty bizarre, after 29 games!

But Go Ahead winning the cup is also very awesome. Does every town portray itself as working class though? (Okay, outside Wassenaar and 't Gooi.) I never thought of Deventer that way, but that's what it's being called.
