Yeah, love to see it.Your wish was granted very quickly
Though I also feel bad for Timon. He's been a reliable stand-in. Just can't handle the pressure of being first choice it seems.

Fecking BijlowWell Timon got his spot back it seems. Bijlow might be Luke Shaw his long lost brother...
You jinxed it, there's no other explanation.Fecking Bijlow
I know people will be looking at a few of the AZ sales but honestly we have so many good young players coming through the academy with really high technical but also mental strength that I’m sure we’ll fill the squad out.
A great little group of U20 year olds with bags of potential.
- Kees Smit - Another promising midfielder. I don’t think he’s close to the level of Teun Koopmeiners who you all know I’m a huge fan of but he’s still got a good mentality and looks good whenever I’ve seen him.
He looked very good today!Imho Kees Smit can become even better then Teun Koopmeiners. Kees just played his 2nd game in the first squad against Fenerbache and instantly was the best player on the pitch. Even scored a goal and gave an assist. Absolute brilliant performance of this huge talent.
I’m not so sure. Koopmeiners mentality and work ethic is what’s taken him so far and he’s an incredibly intelligent player. His versatility across defensive and midfield positions meant he had a holistic view of the game.Imho Kees Smit can become even better then Teun Koopmeiners. I’m aware of his career to date, and watch more of AZ than I care to admit. I just think Smit will struggle to play his game in a more major European league versus Koopmeiners whose game was far more positional and tactical awareness. All those things you say about Koopmeiners are also aspects of Kees Smit. He is an incredibly intelligent player, he can also play on all positions in the midfield (a few years ago he played defensive and central mid. Last year he plays attacking midfield. He also played sometimes as a rightback defender). And his view of the game is unreal. He allways knows when and where to go and know where to play the ball. You should watch some games of him and I am sure you will agree. The differences between the players are that Koopmeiners has a better shot from a distance and Kees Smit has a better drible and more creativity.
When Koopmeiners was playing at AZ everyone outside AZ were also saying he was going to fail in the top because he was not quick enough in handling the ball.I’m aware of his career to date, and watch more of AZ than I care to admit. Smit is a product of our new academy direction which focuses on that game and general intelligence of the player which is why I think we’ll see more and more versatile players like him and Mastoras (who I think will be huge in a couple of years).
I think Koop is a far superior passer and a more intelligent holding player too.
