The biggest loss is Tadic honestly. He was their captain and clearly the team's boss.

There is just zero hierarchy in this whole team and zero leaderdship.. Every single player is having a touch time enough by themselves to also be busy and feel responsible for the team as a whole.. We are in dire need of some leadership..

Im at the point where I would say f*ck it, spend our last remaining euros on a 37 year old Jan Vertonghen.. At least Feyenoord/PSV fans will hate us again in stead of laughing at us only and pity'ing us, at least a player with which we as Ajax supporters can identiy with and at least someone who will try and take this team by the hand..

Ahw, don't worry, I will always hate you guys (L)

There's a lot of clubs bigger than Betis/Depor currently sitting in the Championship...and even in League 1.

The 2nd Bundesliga alone currently hosts HSV, Schalke, Hertha, Nürnberg, Kaiserslautern, Hannover 96, Hansa Rostock, KSC.
Werder Bremen and VfB Stuttgart have currently been in the 2nd league as well.

Granted, not "giant" clubs, but big traditional clubs with sometimes very big followings.

It's sad for him, but the only right choice..

Steijn is a very decent coach but prior to his Ajax period he has never proven anywhere he can successfully implement an attacking playing style, with build up from the back and high pressure.. He has no clue how to organize his team defensively when trying to implement such a playing style.. Had he been at any other club with the same players he wouldn't have felt the pressure and obligation to try and implement an attacking playing style and he would have stayed closer to his comfort zone in playing style and would have probably earned more points, but with a lot of backlash about not playing the Ajax way (and rightfully so).. It's fair play to him that he did try to implement the Ajax way of playing, but massively unsuccessful.. He should just have never been appointed in the first place.. The greatest mistake was made by Mislintat who appointed him..

Add the far from ideal scenario's with the whole organizational drama at the club, the complete random squad which put in front of him with so many nationalities and players he hardly knew, plus the fact that most of these players only came near the end of the window.. And you cannot help feeling bad for the guy and wishing him the best..

But.. It's the only right choice.. He was in way over his head..

The issue now is.. Who should we get?!

(sigh.. Why did we just not sign Peter Bosz somewhere in the first half of this year.. It was SO obvious...)

Absolutely devastated he’s gone.

Worst trainer I’ve seen at Ajax.

Perhaps you guys should do us a favor and repay us back some of those euros by buying some of our players instead. Lifting the karma for taking a loyal generous customer like us to the cleaner with Antony deal because you get robbed by Bayern, Inter. How about 30mil for Donny Van de Beek?

Ajax: Tagliafico, Haller, Gravenberch, Mazraoui, Alvarez we can talk about for reasonable amounts, Martinez Antony Timber all still have 3 year contracts and we will NOT sell this season
Man Utd: Give us Martinez and Antony
Ajax: No
Man Utd: 60 million!
Ajax: No
Man Utd: What? Thats what their worth is!
Ajax: Perhaps, but its not about the money, we have plenty.. We just want consistency in our squad and not sell ALL our best players every single season, Timber Antony Martinez can go next year for lower prices...
Man Utd: We will pay ridiculous amounts and overpay tremendously
Ajax: Ok

And somehow Ajax is the bad guy..

Looks like its gonna be John van 't Schip as interim for some time until the whole new Organizaton with Alex Kroes as General Director and Marijn Beuker as Football Director are installed (most likely option..).. I'm ok with that!

And somehow Ajax is the bad guy..

I don't think anyone portrays you as bad guys, I do think more and more people stress the point that there is something of an 'Ajax-tax'. If you compare the prices that has been paid for Ajax players versus Feyenoord over the last years the difference is staggering. It's fair to say that most of the Ajax talents haven't really lived up to their hype. Even their top tier talents like de Ligt or Ziyech never reached the Ajax 18-19 level.

I would keep our eye on Santiago Gimenez. He's an absolute baller but probably half of Europe will be after him next summer.

I think for the last 5 years this 'Ajax-tax' was mainly due to Ajax players having shown themselves in the Champions League, as opposed to players from Feyenoord and PSV and showing themselves in the national team.. Things will definitely change now in outgoing fees for Feyenoord and PSV for the better and Ajax for the worse..

Giminez will really have to start showing himself starting tomorrow in the Champions League.. He looks in great form now, but so far I found him quite dissapointing last year in the bigger matches (For example against Roma he was nowhere against Smalling).. I really hope he will be able to excel in the Champions League this year as well.

Looking forward to Feyenoord and PSV tonight and tomorrow very much!

Totally agree with you. Even looking forward to see Ajax after Steijn is sent away and sincerely hope they can hijack some points in Eindhoven next Sunday.

Funny because it's true. Everyone here knew the figure they gave United for Antony was the "we're not selling him feck off" figure. You're not supposed to pay the "we're not selling him feck off" figure.

So the latest on Steijn:

He wanted to continue after sunday's debacle, but dump both Hedwiges Maduro (his assistent who will replace him for the next games) for betraying him and Steven Berghuis for undermining him (who could've imagined Berghuis to betray anyone?!?!:wenger:). The sad death throes of a soon to be sacked manager perhaps, butquite a few of the most prominent pundits as well as a few ex players (Sneijder,Vd Vaart, Vd Meyde) are weirdly still very much in the "it's all Mislintat's fault, Steijn should have no blame" mode. So they will obviously jump on Maduro at the first missplaced pass to scream, see, the players are shite. Van der Vaart even openly called Maduro a snitch on Sunday evening on TV.

And poor John van 't Schip, who buried his wife all but 2 weeks ago has to step in and finish the season starting in two weeks (that's something I actually feel bad about as opposed to the schadenfreude of everything else).

Ajax truly are our greatest club, both the highest highs and lowest lows.

LVG is the obvious one to be the next manager haha Only the crazy Big-Head can bring back the order in this very chaotic club right now..

@KirkDuyt Feyenoord is awesome.. Zerrouki should replace Wieffer in the starting line-up... Insane how much Timber and Stengs have grown...

Also shouldnt this just be the starting defensive line-up? I know Trauner is highly rated and he is a very decent trustworthy player, but Geertruida looks so much better in the center of defense..

It's a bit surreal how good we are at the moment. Sure, Lazio isnt the strongest CL opponent ever, but we played them off the field. Zerrouki was majestic today and I think he's better than Wieffer at this point.

Geertruida is better than Trauner I agree, but he's also by far our best rb. Because Nieuwkoop is very average and the less said about Lopez' performance the better.

They are all friends with Steijn. Sneijder and van der Vaart were both asked by Steijn to join his staff and come do something for Ajax. They go out to drink coffees together. Pierre van Hooijdonk hates Steijn but i do agree with what Pierre was saying last 'Studio Voetbal' about van der Vaart. Saying that van der Vaart cant talk openly because he goes out for coffee with Steijn. Its very much like how Keane and Neville talked about Ole when Ole was the Manchester United manager. They know the manager is out of his depth but the manager is also their friend so they cant say anything.

Also everyone keeps shitting on Mislintat and the players he bought but if you gave those players to Arne Slot he would likely make some of them look like bargains. I wouldnt be suprised if Mislintat his players will end up as profitable sales if Ajax does get a good manager. Although since Bosz and Slot are both no options.. i have no idea who their next manager should be.

Do the "3 big ones" buy talents/U21 players from each other or is any transfer between the clubs seen as rare?
It happens, but not often. Ajax buying our captain and star player is rather unprecedented though. Would be like Bruno signing for Liverpool. What irked people most though was the constant badge kissing in his goal celebrations the prior season and saying Feyenoord was his club and stuff.

Personally I wasnt that bothered as Ajax was a clear step up for him, but it's hilarious that him leaving was one of the catalysts of our recent succes. He was a bit of a negative presence in the dressing room and the entire team was buid around him and he's not THAT good.

Sooooo about last night….

Villa were absolutely all over us. Just goes to show the level of football in the PL nowadays ridiculous!

France will probably overtake us before the winterbreak if this keeps up.

Must say, AZ are rather unlucky they face the premier league's number 5 in the fecking conference league while apparently even a team from the Faroer Islands are in the same competition. I'm more disappointed by PSV really with how dominant they are in our league, I'd have expected them to beat Sevilla at home and do more against Lens since both clubs aren't exactly in stellar form at the moment. And Ajax... at this point I'm not even having fun gloating about it anymore. It's just so fecking sad to watch them play.

Enough pretending to be sympathetic though, Feyenoord are amazing, I love us, Arne Slot is bald Jesus and we're winning the triple this year.

I was at the Amex last night to watch Brighton vs Ajax. Think that’s the worst team I’ve seen all season.

I know Ajax’s whole team has been sold off but that performance was dreadful. Couldn’t string more than 4 passes together. Utterly dominated by Brighton in possession.

Standouts were #21 and #4 for Ajax however.

#4 Hato is the next diamond of the Ajax academy conveyor belt know for delivering world class midfielders and forwards but for some reason has only produced world class defenders for a while now. ( De Ligt, Timber, Mazraoui, now Hato and Schuurs and Botman also doing very well.) When I saw Gravenberch perform last night I saw the exact player we are sorely missing right now.

Hato is about the only saving grace in that side. Brilliant young player being dragged down by a piss poor side.

Ajax slipping so far down is going to hit us badly. PSV should be doing better but since losing Gakpo they’ve lost their edge in attack. He was just a machine!

Arne Slot is doing a special job. Can’t wait for him to leave

Time for PSV and Feyenoord to step up. We've been relying on Ajax far too long.

Very tough away game, can't afford to drop points with PSV having another home game against relegation fodder (harharhar).

I turned this on in the second half, because I felt sorry for @KirkDuyt having to talk to himself like some weirdo and I've probably given it my full attention for about 5 minutes, so caf custom dictates I now have to call Arne Slot a fraud.
