Enzo Maresca - Chelsea manager - Sack watch

I honestly could not give less of a shit about how Maresca or Chelsea do this season. I just find it funny that being one point ahead of a United manager who was getting dog's abuse at this point last season is seen as some sort of ringing endorsement of Chelsea's new manager.
Chelsea's new manager is looking better than the Arsenal manager atm.. The Arsenal manager has been there 5 seasons, Chelsea manager one season and the youngest squad in the league, that haven't all played together for long either.
For someone that doesn't care, you really seem to care :0)

Because the difference is ETH and United had no defined style or pattern at all and played shit on a stick football years into the job whereas Maresca has been here a few months and has already implemented those things and plays pleasing, attacking football.

I don’t think anyone is going overboard and saying we’re some amazing, top class side yet. Just that we look ahead of schedule and are clearly moving in a great direction.

This is flawed logic. This early on in the season some manager's 'look' better than others? Purely because of league position or what? Hurzeler 'looks better' than Pep. Nuno (who was sacked from Spurs) 'looks' better than Ange. It's just arbitrary nonsense.

This here is the key point.

For those first ~15 games last season United under ETH somehow managed to grind out some decent results despite playing utterly dull football overall. At the time it was not that hard to predict the results would eventually fall in line with the actual performances, and in the end they did.

For us this season there's quite a few more reasons for optimism. That's not to say things can't still go horribly wrong but the signs are looking more positive than negative at the moment.

No he isn't.

Whilst it is the youngest team, it is also the most expensive team, so you can't have it both ways.

Arsenal's manager has won a FA cup and challenged for the title twice.

You can talk about not played together long but alot of the players have been there for over a season, most even longer.

Finally, this Chelsea manager has not even beat a top 6 club? yet he is better?

Better in his first season.. A lot better. I was responding to @Pogue Mahone saying Chelsea aren't much better than last year and he doesn't care anyway

Did Man. United genuinely have 30 points after the first 15 games last season? Seems way too high for all the defeats they had up to mid December.

What Maresca is doing well is he's making big decisions with the squad and sticking with them.

Edit: Only just realised Pogue posted that on Tuesday so before their two wins.

We had 27 from 15 games

I honestly think you could pick any random Italian manager out Italy’s Serie B or C to manage Chelsea and I’m convinced he’d make a success of it. It’s the football ‘eritage at Chelsea. Italians at Chelsea is basically printing money.

Its pretty incredible that this guy of all the ones they've tried is the one who is working.

He's doing well for sure, but there's also something to the fact that the groundwork had largely been laid. A good squad assembled, Poch did some good work even though ultimately he wasn't a great fit. And notably, the transfers under Maresca have mostly been PL-ready players.

We’ve been crying out for a manager who brings a clear structure and style of play for ages. That we’re seeing that so quickly under Maresca is beyond my expectations. I figured that towards the back half of this season we’d be starting to see it not almost right out of the gate.

Your lucky. Our managers need months or years to try and get a clear style. I must admit I doubted maresca when he first joined yous as it was a big step up from Leicester but he’s doing well. Hopefully you overtake the scousers.

Could soon go to shit. Enjoy it.

If he can keep doing what he is doing & yous can stop Liverpool winning the league then by all means, I hope you guys keep on picking up victories and keeping Palmer fit along the way as he’s so crucial to yous.

I’d rather see yous stop Liverpool winning the title than Arsenal or City (that’s now a long shout)

With this squad where we can rotate like crazy without big drops in quality I think the only real way it goes to shit is if we get hit with a massive injury list like we did last season where we’re down 10+ players.

Surprising optimism given it’s gone to shit under literally every single other manager in your entire history.

With the amount of signings they have had, he’s done a great job. Obviously it helps when you can rotate against lesser opposition in the Conference League but still he’s been getting the results in the PL and the best out of certain players.

Oh, you’re saying longer term. I thought you meant just this season.

This season there’s the potential for a serious run. I would love it if Liverpool were caught and overtaken by Chelsea.

They’re really fun to watch. Definitely way more fun to watch than Arsenal and even this season’s City, even before the meltdown. I said last week that they’re more of a contender than Arsenal imo.

I hope these cnuts aren't a serious team and will succumb to inexperience soon.

He has managed Enzo brilliantly.

He was out the team and he’s fought to get back in. He’s scoring and assisting now and every performance has been brilliant.

Defence is still shaky.

Enzo Fernandez started to score goals. That's maresca s biggest achievement for me so far.

Bringing the best out of Enzo gave us plenty of options. Him and palmer in pockets gave lots of creativity and also goal threat.

Do you think Enzo is going to be this attacking going forward? Thinking of bringing him in for my fantasy team? Is he going to be continually deployed higher up the pitch with Caicedo and Lavia behind him?

It depends on availability of lavia. If he is available then most likely he will join in attacks frequently.

He started to wear his scoring boots he will add more goals any way in my opinion.

It shows how important is for manager to get full pre-season. We made a huge, huge mistake by sticking with Erik. They didn't.
I admit i was first who thought that sacking Poch was mistake just when Celski started to play well.

Brave/risky decision is paying off for Boehly.

I'm all in on the Maresca train but what he's done with Enzo is just basic common sense that looks incredible because of how appalingly Poch profiled him.

We didn't even play that well at the end of the season.

The last three games was the same old shit despite winning.

Tbf, Enzo was kind of fecked over as much as anyone by Lavia missing the whole season. Seeing Lavia this season has shown us how beneficial he is. Enzo in a double pivot was disastrous and Enzo pushed way high up didn’t work well without Lavia either.

Buckle up your ideas, sir.

1 point out of 9 vs Everton, Fulham and Ipswich is dire stuff.

We have Palace, Bournemouth and Wolves next before we play City. Should ideally be looking at 9 out of 9 from those games to avoid getting sucked into a 7 team battle for 4th-5th place.

At 4:30pm on Boxing Day they were closing in on Liverpool to within one point.

We could have briefly gone top for a couple of hours with a win at Everton. I knew the form wouldn’t last though. We were on a 5 or 6 game winning streak going into that game and I felt it in my bones that we’d run into some sticky form soon.

As long as it doesn’t turn into a 5-6 games ‘blip’ then this is still manageable. It does put pressure on the next few games though. They feel like must wins now.

It's mental that an out of form United everyone knows are struggling getting beaten 2-0 by a decent Newcastle team makes more headlines than Chelsea, supposedly competing for the title, losing to Ipswich
