England vs Iceland

England makes me sick right now. Supposedly even the fans themselves were chanting Brexit victory songs.

Come on Iceland.

So, given the events over the weekend - How much will the neutrals boo England's every touch today?
The Welsh didn't seem to have any problems, but then again there will likely be many foreigners for whom UK = England only, and we're the most hatable British nation anyway so I'm expecting the brunt of it to come on us. Probably more likely in the theoretical France game, given that Iceland aren't in the EU at all themselves and have no interest in joining (they were looking into it after the recession, but I think they've withdrawn from the idea completely now).

I'm predicting an Icelandic win on penalties btw

Literally every single team of the knockouts that I've wanted to go through has been eliminated so far.

Congrats England.

Really disappointing yet not surprising to see Sterling and, to a lesser extent, Kane and Alli starting. Fearing the worst now.

I can not understand how Iceland does it to be fair. They have about 330k inhabitants in the whole of Iceland, the city I live in here in Norway have 300k inhabitants, yet Norway cant touch them in regards to football for shit.

We beat them 3-2 a couple of weeks ago.

Yeah, but their overall results are far better than ours. And we are 5,5m while they are 330k. Imagine if the Norwegian national team only had for example Hordaland to choose from to even out the population, that would be some dire watching.

Sterling back in is weird, I know we need more pace wide but I'd have given Rashford a chance, he has more brains.

I'm gonna go against the grain and predict a good performance from Sterling and Kane tonight which will hurt England as they earn their place against France.

Sterling and Kane have been far and away England's 2 worst players, why the hell is he playing them in the most important game of his career

This'll be spun as another spineless decision but the reality is he's taking a significant risk.

Want England to win this and the United boys to have a good game. Hopefully Rooney scores.

Massive respect for Iceland, but I would just prefer an England-France QF that should be a cracker, instead of France slaughtering Iceland.

I'd agree with most that have commented, surprised to see Kane and Sterling. Think Vardy and Lallana (if fit) should be starting.

Idiot of a host in Croatian pregame show just said something like: "England team, what journos wished they got."
He's talking bollocks right?

Sturridge shouldnt be on the wing although given Iceland will be sat back it mightnt matter to much, Sterling and Kane selection is a joke, especially if Kane flukes one in, hes still woefully out of form and will be shown up next round if he plays

I know that Andy Carroll is not everyones ideal player but i think he would have been a great option against teams that sit back. Like all the teams in the group stage and Iceland tonight.

FAO Brits: If England gets eliminated will it be considered the greatest humilation in the NT's history?

No match number in the thread title is extremely annoying.

Did Hoddle just say it would be a positive step for England if we beat Iceland on penalties?

Not a Brit, but getting eliminated by a country which population is around 8% of the population of London, I'd say yes.

Edit: it's actually around 4%.
