Brilliant bowling and fielding performance from the lads,on this pitch sri lanka look too be around 30 or so short of par.Hopefully we can set a platform this time for our strong middle order to see us home.

One of the best all-round fielding/bowling performances i've seen England do in a while. Mahmood with 4-50 was a bit lucky as i thought Flintoff and Collingwood bowled better.
 
Fuk 2-1 Vaughan gone for a duck. Strangled down the leg side.
 
What a fecking match, probably the best of the tournament so far.

Credit to England, Nixon and Bopara batted well.

He also played a crucial part in the third game of the Super 8 series against Sri Lanka, stroking 52 off 53 balls and initiating a late revival in a near run-a-ball partnership of 87 with wicket-keeper batsman Paul Nixon. This partnership set-up a tense finale with England needing 12 from the last over. A streaky single from Sajid Mahmood on the second last ball of the innings left Bopara on strike with England 3 runs short of the win off the last ball. With tension levels going into over-drive, Sri Lankan paceman Ranjit Fernando played his joker by running in and completing his action without delivering the ball. A stunned Bopara faced up to the re-take by backing away to leave room for a big cover drive but a subtle change of pace from Fernando saw the ball crashing into the stumps to leave England 3 runs short of the victory. However, the excellent temperment and resillience he showed during his innings will surely have left Bopara somewhat closer to cementing his place in the England one-day team.
