England v Australia - Second Ashes Test - Lord's

They need to make them folllow on or else it'll be a draw. I'd put Fred on.

I don't think we should enforce it.

Flat deck, and we could get in trouble if the Aussies set us 150 on the last day.

Right decision, make them toil in the field, then stick 'em in chasing 550 in 5 sessions.

Bowlers nice and rested.

this wicket is known for holding up these days so no fifth day calamity to worry about poor defensive decision imo

Bad mistake, as Ian Chappell said: 'If you've got your boot on their throat keep it there'. Aussies would never have done that.

thinking about it ,maybe Strauss could see our bowlers struggling and did not want to put them out again
Lets hope our batters can do the biz and give the Aussie;s a target of 450-500 ,by Sunday afternoon and declare and then have over a day to bowl them out.

Pitch is very flat this morning, not much swing and it will hopefully take an Aussie win totally out of the equation if we can put up a decent score of 300 or so. Also looks like bad weather tomorrow and Monday so that will gve us a good chance of bowling them out despite any potential rain if we have 2 days to do it.

I think we're just pushing that foot down now...

We can't lose now we've decided to bat again, and there's along time left in the match.

the danger is now we bat too long and dont give ourselves enough time to get them out.
and then there is the nightmare of having a awful 2nd innings and they overtake us.

We'll have to get over 300 which will take us until lunch tomorrow. Lose a couple of sessions to rain and Australia only have to bat out a day. make 'em follow on get Australia out for 300 or even 400 in a day or so and it's a gimme unless there's a deluge.

ARRRGGGHHH feck OFF ENGLAND

Rancid decision. Hopefully it doesn't matter but I'm sick to fecking death of us not enforcing follow ons and giving an all but beaten opponent a new lease of life to get at least a draw out of the game

How many times must be tits up these positions before we fecking learn eh?

With two days left the Aussies will probably be 500 behind, giving England enough time and runs to bowl them out. The worry would've been, the Aussies getting 450+ after following on, leaving England chasing 200+ on the last day. So, it's the logical decision.

Even though he may not actually be English, Strauss is the perfect captain for England. Totally gutless.

Would be good if we can get 450-500 infront by lunch Sunday and them have .
2 sessions and all day Monday to get them out.
