England v Australia - Second Ashes Test - Lord's

4, more like?

I'd have thought because the 1st wicket went at around 196 you'd count it from then onwards? ie 106 runs for the 3 wickets after the first.

You'll know more about this than me mind.

I enjoy it more than watching on sky tbh.

Is it just me that think Skys coverage is too moany, whiney and dull?

Atherton's the worst for it.

Haven't seenmuch of Sky so far this Ashes, mainly listened on the radio.

It's the anecdotes, wit, camaraderie e.t.c. that set TMS apart, particularly when touring overseas. Brings it all to life, the cricket and otherwise

I'd say it's a collapse now which is a shame since 550 looked like a possible target. Need to hope the likes of Flintoff, Broad and Swann can make the lower end stick around.

But it's just as valid to say that (since we were 196-0) 4 wickets have gone for 106 runs, isn't it? Or, more accurately, 5 wickets gone for 121 now.:(

Strauss and Cook are basically the England team today.

EDIT: Newsflash - England's middle order has been sighted just arriving at St John's Wood tube.

Flintoff gone.

England collapsing here and the new ball hasn't been taken still..

FFS typical England throw away a bloody good start only for the middle order to mess it up,hopefully the tail can wag again and we can get to 400

Typical England indeed. Our batsmen never seem to capitalise on a good start, like that 196 opening partnership today. Even if we do get to 400 ror 450 it won't look a particularly good score, as the pitch seems pretty similar to the one in the first test.

A score close to 500 isn't completely out of the realms of possibility. But it would require Strauss to achieve an innings I don't think he is capable of and the likes of Broad, Swann and Anderson sticking around and contributing.

After the start we had and the score at Lunch was hopeing we could post maybe 400-450,but not for the lost of 6 wickets.Biggest dissapointment for me was Flintoff getting out so quick would of like a goodknock from him.
Not sure how much play there will be today , maybe some in the afternoon ,if we lose the whole day and with the pitch batting like Cardiff then cant see anything else but a draw.

Have to dissagree there , I think Strauss is more than capable of putting a score of 250+ , if the lower order can do the same has in Cardiff then a score of 500 is very possible.
The rain is going to play a major part today ,if any play is possible.
The Aussie bowlers will be chomping at the bit to get the spinners on with a bit of damp in the air and maybe the wicket being a bit damp.

Out for about another 50 before lunch.

Will get more than that , hopefully maybe another 100-150.
But not today , the BBC is forcasting heavy Thundery Rain till 4pm and them light rain till 7pm,so my bet is on a 2nd day washout.
Typical Bristish Summer rain rain and more rain , what happened to the long hot summer ,all the weather people said we was going to get.

there could be play this is from the BBC website.

1035: Humid out there at the mo. Could it swing? Wrinkled old purveyors of wobble are sniffing the air like Bisto kids. There's movement in them there clouds.

BBC Sport's Oliver Brett on Twitter: "Hauritz gingerly taking part in touch rugby, Watson - remember him? - jogging around. Covers are being hauled off - should start on time."

1025: Having said that, the covers are currently off at Lord's. There's rain forecast - it is the middle of July, after all - but there'll be cricket this morning or my name's Martin McCague.

So what's a good score on this pitch? I have no idea how the pitch is playing, I was at work all yesterday :( I reckon Broad and Swann can put on at least 50 together. This is going to be a class test match.
