Thought that one was out myself.

Holy feck look at the turn.

The lack of turn on the wicket taking deliveries gives you a clue why it's so difficult to bat on.
Not rocket science mate
You see now why they can't play the straight one? It gets in your head that every ball will turn to some extent, it's impossible. You naturally adjust to what the normal is.Holy feck look at the turn.
You think Axar Patel is the next coming of Shane Warne? Hes 27 years old and has always been a decent cricketer. Hes bamboozled England with intelligent bowling - yes this wicket favours spinners, yes the odd ball does turn. But this is awful batting from two teams that can't play against spin.
We struggle against Moeen in English conditions so I would never use us a reference point on how to play against spin.

No-one is saying that the batting hasn't been poor, but to suggest that how a batsman plays a ball that ends up not turning isn't influenced by the pitch condition and match situation is madness. You think Axar Patel is the next coming of Shane Warne? Cook and Strauss reckon 60 is a good target.
Think that might suggest a problem with the pitch.
India are going to chase it without any problems, there's no point getting your hopes up. Rohit run a ball half century.
yes England will be demoralised, anything under 100 will be a stroll even with this pitch
I feel like that's them hoping 60 is a good target.Cook and Strauss reckon 60 is a good target.

He didn't do itDo it Jimmy!!
PatheticA 2 day test match
Hence my earlier question over whether gremlins are to blame for these pitches or not. While this is entertaining it's certainly not good cricket for the purists or the sponsors.Whether the pitch or the batsmen, this whole match has been embarrassing for test cricket. Such a shame.
Good point from Cook. There is no way Root should be taking 5-8 on day two of a test match. I think the way India have put on this series has been really poor compared to how cricket was re-integrated for Covid elsewhere.
Agree with Cook - lost the test match in the 1st innings. 180 wins the test on this pitch and it was probably possible.
And India were 99-2 weren't they?74/2 weren't we at one point ?
To go from that to 112 all out lost us the match yeah
The pitch is turning and bouncing but most of the batsmen got out to balls that kept going straight, as they were playing for the turn. I've not seen much of the game, but from what I've seen, it's not like the ball is turning square. Maybe the reason the test is ending in two days is also because the batsmen are pretty poor at playing quality spin? I'm not defending the pitch, it's not a great track, but IMHO it's not a 80 all out on day two second session kind of pitch.

only Rohit and Crawley come out of this with any credit

5/8 - Joe Root. The prosecution rests, m'lord. The pitch is turning and bouncing but most of the batsmen got out to balls that kept going straight, as they were playing for the turn. Serious question. When Broad bowled Australia out for 60. Did you guys complain then?
You pitch it in the right areas, you get wickets. Also it could be a one off. To judge the pitch just because of those 5 overs is a bit ridiculous. It's not like you can bring in any one and they will take 5 wickets.I hear you but Root took 5/8 this morning...
