England in India 2021

England lost this yesterday. You can't win the toss and get 112 . 175 in the first Innings and this match was on

don't know cricket but I'm watching this because all my friends were talking about the pitch.

I was expecting them to play on Schrute farms, the way it was described. Am disappointed.

I think they should start the 4th test in the morning tomorrow and there's a good chance it ends on Sunday . 2 tests for the price of 1.

You think Axar Patel is the next coming of Shane Warne? Hes 27 years old and has always been a decent cricketer. Hes bamboozled England with intelligent bowling - yes this wicket favours spinners, yes the odd ball does turn. But this is awful batting from two teams that can't play against spin.

We struggle against Moeen in English conditions so I would never use us a reference point on how to play against spin.

That's the whole point , nobody thinks Axar Patel is the next Shane Warne. He just looks like it because this pitch is ridiculous.

28 wickets half way through day 2 is absurd

Jeez you are thick . Have you seen Jadeja bowl in these conditions ? He averaged like 20 in the last couple of years doing exactly this . Is he Shane Warne ? The ball doesn't need to turn a mile everytime but is very hard to play round arm bowlers when there is a lot of natural variation ball after ball

No-one is saying that the batting hasn't been poor, but to suggest that how a batsman plays a ball that ends up not turning isn't influenced by the pitch condition and match situation is madness.

Whether the pitch or the batsmen, this whole match has been embarrassing for test cricket. Such a shame.

Good point from Cook. There is no way Root should be taking 5-8 on day two of a test match. I think the way India have put on this series has been really poor compared to how cricket was re-integrated for Covid elsewhere.

Cook and Strauss reckon 60 is a good target.

Think that might suggest a problem with the pitch.

India are going to chase it without any problems, there's no point getting your hopes up. Rohit run a ball half century.

What a mental match

yes England will be demoralised, anything under 100 will be a stroll even with this pitch

I saw an ad for Vitality.. for an Indian cricket match being played in India..

This is so weird.. We normally get to see ads for Hero and Cycle agarbatti when SA are playing WI.. Never an ad for a non Indian company when India is playing in India..

Agree with Cook - lost the test match in the 1st innings. 180 wins the test on this pitch and it was probably possible.

Hence my earlier question over whether gremlins are to blame for these pitches or not. While this is entertaining it's certainly not good cricket for the purists or the sponsors.

The pitch is turning and bouncing but most of the batsmen got out to balls that kept going straight, as they were playing for the turn. I've not seen much of the game, but from what I've seen, it's not like every ball is turning square. Maybe the reason the test is ending in two days is also because the batsmen are pretty poor at playing quality spin? I'm not defending the pitch, it's not a great track, but IMHO it's not a 80 all out on day two second session kind of pitch.

I hear you but Root took 5/8 this morning...

Serious question. When Broad bowled Australia out for 60. Did you guys complain then? Surely yoi did. For the sake of cricket, I mean.

And India were 99-2 weren't they?
only Rohit and Crawley come out of this with any credit

Both innings both teams scored runs against the seamers and collapsed vs spin. Hopefully England are smart enough to bowl spin both ends immediately but Im not banking on it.

It has been turning square.

Joe Root getting 5 for 8 in 6 overs on the morning of day 2 is a sign the Pitch is extreme.

5/8 - Joe Root. The prosecution rests, m'lord.

Test match getting over in 2 days is not good. Poor batting or not but this is unacceptable and one must have to look at the pitch ultimately.

You pitch it in the right areas, you get wickets. Also it could be a one off. To judge the pitch just because of those 5 overs is a bit ridiculous. It's not like you can bring in any one and they will take 5 wickets.
