You should! Virtually all their early games defined genres, one of the most overlooked was Conker's bad fur day.

I've finally given this game a go (after completing Diddy Kong Racing), but turned it off after realising having to sit through some animated section for half an hour before the actual game starts. I've not been this bored since I was forced to watch The Two Towers. How long does it go on for, and is it worth it?

Really enjoyed the Diddy Kong game. I always thought it looked a bit kiddy-ish and was a pale imitation of Mario Kart. I was wrong.

Yes. Its my favourite game on the N64 after Zelda. I've never laughed so much while playing a video game.

Although if you hated the opening sequence and LOTR then I'm not sure we have the same taste.

I'm not a Zelda fan either. Will I regret making the effort to sit through this drawn out intro? Is it a similar style of game to Zelda or more of a platformer?

Its definitely more of a platformer. Think Banjo Kazooie but more adult.

It's awesome if you like platformers.

Here's a hint, if you're playing on Project64 (though I think the others have a similar option) press F4 and it'll take the FPS cap off. Meaning that the faster your computer is, the faster the game will run - turbo charge those annoying cutscenes!

Although, they are funny in Conker's (well after the first 5 minutes of the game anyway).

So many people were/are about Diddy Kong.

Rareware were awesome.

I'm just using a cheapo Saitek dual analogue controller. Cost about £7. Not the best D-Pad in the world though. I'd love to get a snes one with a converter.

You don't really need a pad for that. You can get used to it by just continuing on the keyboard.

A fairly short game btw.

Yeah tried doing this. Was fine for the first few but becomes increasingly infuriating. Especially when trying to climb multiple ledges

Right, I'm absolutely loving Project 64 and got a Playstation pad hooked up which works fine.

However, I'm having some trouble with certain games in that they are causing my laptop to freeze completely. It tends to happen on 'bigger' games such as Banjo Kazooie, Donkey Kong, Zelda and Goldeneye whilst games such as Mario 64 and Snowboard Kids work just fine.

Does anybody have a clue why this is?

Don't know. I use it on my desktop and it works almost perfectly. Tried it on the laptop and it just switches off (the program, not the PC) without warning after a few minutes.
