Elon Musk's epic bacon adventures

He could also, you know, give the money away anyway, even if it doesn't completely "solve world hunger", because an amount like that may help a bit. He is not going to and yes, he's calling that bluff, but he is also being sickeningly obnoxious about it, as per.

Completely agree. I've never understood what one could possibly have to lose by giving away a portion of that wealth.

Why be obnoxious about it though? We know he is not going to, but he sounds like he would give that much away to "solve" world hunger, and I'm sure you'll agree that it's only fair to wonder how much he would give away to merely alleviate it.

Because the claim they make is false.

Nah, you can point out that is inaccurate or even malicious without being so repugnant about it, because he's implying he'd give away 6 billion dollars to solve world hunger but 0 dollars to reduce it a bit; that's just his personality, he's odious like that, and I know it's probably uncomfortable to swallow for some of the admirers of his entrepreneurial side, but it is what it is., he's very clearly a repulsive person.

Yeah he's a dick.

It took him well over an hour to get his answered when he could have just went back a page in the thread

Maybe they're alluding to the fact that it's a headline but never actually happened. The UN guy was talking about specific and acute issues, not ending world hunger.

1.8% of his wealth is $6b whilst 1.8% of my wealth is £400. Depressing shit.

He's such a troll. In other news, Tesla shares have dropped 9% in pre-market, likely cause of his tweet that he might sell 10% of them.

He has been awesome for investors (a company that produces less than 1 million cars per year, is worth more than the remaining of the entire car industry), but it must be annoying to them these stupid tweets that make the share price go down.

arguably though it is his "stupid tweets" that garner so much attention and have been critical in getting teslas valuation so high?... certainly on pretty much all other metrics you would normally consider they look overvalued and looking forward for the next 12 months the likes of BMW and Merc seem to be bringing cars at comparable prices with better range and at least to my mind far better build and interior quality so whilst i dont think telsa is worthless it is probably worth less than its current market valuation

interestingly if the value of Tesla shares goes down does Musk get to claim a tax rebate on that (if he is taxed on theoretical increases)

Yup, that’s the thing in the unrealized gains. If he gets now taxed 25billion or something, then Tesla at some stage drops 80% in value, which means he loses 250 billion. Does he get a tax claim for all that loss?

I think that the tax on unrealized gains is gonna have all types of trouble and is very hard to implement. I also don’t think there is any chance it will pass. And to be fair, there is no country that has such a tax.

this twitter poll is a planned thing of him to get more money. I read that he has an option to buy stocks of Tesla for each $50B of Tesla's value. It is around 1% of the price for the stocks. But he needs money to buy this option.
So he was doing this twitter poll to reduce the value which brings down his % of paying taxes, lowers the price for his option even more and he has the money to buy this option. All in all, he now has more money than before due to this.

Eh, let's not forget that in 2019 he accused a guy of being a paedo because he didn't shower Musk with praise for his idea to send a submarine into rescue schoolchildren trapped in caves.

Fair point. He has been at max douchebag for a while.
