Twitter Threatens to Sue Hate-Speech Research Group Over Claims That Hateful, Racist Content Has Proliferated Under Elon Musk’s Ownership

Elon Musk has taken legal aim at the Center for Countering Digital Hate, an independent research nonprofit group, over the organization’s findings that since the multibillionaire acquired Twitter (now called X) hate, racism and disinformation on the social platform has substantially increased.

“Musk and his legal team, led by attorney Alex Spiro at Quinn Emanuel, have engaged in an aggressive campaign to intimidate, bully, and silence CCDH,” the organization said in a statement released Monday. “While Elon Musk proclaims to be a ‘free speech absolutist,’ his actions against CCDH show the lengths he will go to silence those who seek to hold him to account.”

The Center for Countering Digital Hate publishing findings that Twitter failed to take action against 99 of 100 Twitter Blue accounts the organization reported for hate-speech violations. A July 20 letter from Spiro to the organization called the CCDH’s research “false, misleading or both” and said X Corp. is “investigating whether CCDH’s false and misleading claims about Twitter are actionable” under U.S. law. In addition, he wrote, the company has “reason to believe” that the CCDH is “supported by funding from X Corp.’s commercial competitors, as well as government entities and their affiliates.”

I mean given the reporting of the ad revenue issues that continue to plague the platform after Elon took over. And we know the majority of that exodus is specifically from companies and organizations that do not want to be associated with the increasing racism and hate speech that his tenure has allowed to run rampant. It makes sense that he tries to threaten any groups that try and quantify or show in any tangible way that uptick.

But as the response to the threat shows he will open himself up to discovery. One more legal front to fight if they go through with it. And they will likely have to show their hand on internal tracking of these hate speech accused accounts. Are they actually letting more continue? What are they doing about it internally. Is it being encouraged now even?
 
Considering the logo and name are not copyrightable, has anyone made an app yet with exactly the same logo and name?
 
It's so funny that after all these terrible decisions, he still saved by far the worst one for last. Pissing off the advertisers, firing 80% of the staff causing the site to break in new ways every weak, bringing back all the worst people on the right - that's all bad. But then he decided to change from one of the most recognizable names in the tech world, with one of the most recognizable logos. A name that has such reach that it's spawned genuine words from it such as "a tweet" and "to tweet". Something basically any company which isn't Google can only ever dream of.

But that's still not the worst part. The worst part is X. Not only does it say nothing about the business, it's near universally connected to online pornography. It's also completely useless for visibility and search results, being a letter of the alphabet.

It's so dumb. And this is the man certain people called a genuis not that long ago on this forum. A fecking genius :lol:

I'm also starting up a new version of the Olympics, but for the more dangerous and risky sports, some might call them more extreme... But I can't quite think of a good name for the events.... I'm sure that will come to me soon too....
