Yeah, I thought he was. I think we ll see the masks come off with many. This will be an overall shift to the right when all is said and done across the political spectrum.
I think the concept of the left is quite skewed in the US. The aggressive history of anti communism was always going to have an effect. It's like the political spectrum is clipped in the everyday psyche.
The way that people from every direction queue up to lick Elon's balls is an absolutely baffling phenomenon.
You're correct. Doesn't stop many on the right from calling anyone just mildly left a commie or socialist though. Meanwhile many of them will gladly take subsidies, social services, more and more funding for government services they convinced themselves are theirs to parade with (police, military). But then on the left you ll find relatively little opposition to the same things when it comes down to it.
Its also very easy for the left to get smacked in the face with their own talking pts. In the community I live, and I'm sure many around the country a simple example would be a city proposing to add sidewalks for instance to improve walkability (damn those commies!!). But, as is logical that may mean a tree or two may have to make way. Same people on the right: but think about the poor trees and the environment!
Of the people I follow, many of the "big" accounts (~10k followers?) have moved there. Right now they seem to be while double-posting everything to both places. But all the small accounts, including people I know personally, haven't.
But yeah overall this does seem like a much bigger shift than before.

Twitter was never a 'leftwing cesspool'. It correctly moderated the nasty, racist and hateful language used by right wingers and they didn't like it. Now its a free for all when anything like that can be posted.

One thing I take comfort in, is the guarantee that this Trump presidency will turn ugly on the internal lines as well. I simply can't see this merry band of egomaniacs, opportunists, ideologues, and psychopaths getting along for four years without some serious drama.
I actually don't think they will fall out. They are co-dependent, one needs the other and one can feed the other one's ego. Musk's new agency is apparently scheduled to work on their project until 2026 and I fully expect him to run rampant until then.
How exactly does Trump need Musk? I don't see it. He can discard him from his government as he likes.

He owns the biggest platform in US, and even though Trump will likely not run for re-election he will still need to keep his narrative going in media + there will be midterms. Also, by sticking with him he ensures his influence can continue even after his term expires.
Really not sure I can imagine anything ran by Musk and Ramaswamy running well. Bizarre.
After some early positive headlines, it will end in an absolute farce that they will try to sell as a big success. Lots of key government programmes could collapse if they followed through with some of their ideas.
