Eidur Gudjohnsen

Him and McCarthy will be a very complimentary partnership, and with someone like Zola who wants to play football, it is the best move he could have made.

If he can't even make it at Monaco how could he even interest anyone ?

Past reputation, does wonders. Clubs will still keep picking him up even if he struggles at his next two clubs. Then he will move to a team like Olympiakos or APOEL and ply his trade there at enormous wages because he used to play for Chelsea and Barcelona.

He's been absolutely terrible at Monaco. Painful to watch him. I thought he'd do well there, he played a few games for Iceland in the summer and looked like he was in great shape. But he's done nothing there.

I don't want to use the words "past it", because other players have had poor form after turning 30 and recovered from but I somehow doubt he'd go to West Ham and go back to his best after the way he's been playing for the last months. Who knows though, maybe going back to a more familiar league will be good for him.

Spurs will play him midfield, West Ham upfront ...which is Eidur's better position these days?

he´s been terrible for Monaco, not scored a single goal, still, the french league is often hard for some players, he wont score buckets for WH or spurs but still will score and produce enough.

He's at his best when in an advanced midfield position and he's not too bad as a deep lying forward.

I think his poor performances for Monaco are due to him not being as motivated as he should have been. Rumour has it that he's lost quite a lot of money in the stock market.

I hope he uses this opportunity to get back on track.

Well, this seems to be a done deal for Spurs.

It's apparently a loan until the end of the season, with Spurs paying him 30k a week and Monaco paying the rest, so financially it's not costing us much.

I'm not quite sure what to make of it. He certainly brings a wealth of experience with him, but I'm not sure where and how Harry would be planning to use him given that his performances seem to have declined a lot since leaving Chelsea.

Maybe Harry is planning to sell Pav before the window closes, and thus EG on a low-cost loan is seen as a means of having some kind of Pav-replacement, plus a provider of additional attacking midfield options, whilst banking any Pav-sale cash with our new stadium project in mind?

Or maybe he'll keep our current 4 strikers and EG is just seen as a low-cost means of boosting our general attacking options and squad depth?

I can't see that EG would replace anyone in our strongest starting XI, but I suppose he's another option as a striker, or as an central attacking midfielder apart from Huddlestone and Jenas.

I can only hope that Harry can bring out the best in him and revitalise the player.

Makes sense, he probably invested in Iceland.

 as soon as he signed for Monaco an Icelandic TV station immediately bought the rights to all of their games, and now he's leaving them halfway through the season.

Icelandic finance is becoming a laughing stock ... first West Ham and now this ... :wenger:

still we can watch more games from the PL on TV than you can:)

but we are fecked all the way.

I don't understand why he would want to go to spurs. At least with West Ham he will play EVERY game. With spuds he'll end up spending half the time on the bench.

Maybe so. But then again, why would he want to be caught up in a relegation scrap rather than joining a team that currently sits in 4th place?

.... I'm sure he'll be hugely excited about the possibility to add the "fourth place in the Premier League" gong to his existing haul of medals.
Well, it sure beats the possibility of ending up in a relegated team come the season end, especially if he has one eye on the chances for the loan being turned into a longer-term contract in the summer.

As for the chance of adding to his haul of medals, Spurs are still in the FA Cup, W.Ham aren't.

Yeah but West Ham could win the Championship next season, that's a league title! ;)

Just like Pavyluchenko who is quality.

Because he'd play at West Ham and actually be important. Perhaps he believes he's good enough to offer Tottenham something they don't already have, but it's doubtful in my view. Defoe and Keane will start ahead of him, Pavlyuchenko will play more as well.

Hi, my name is Eidur and I'm an addict.
I have a gambling problem and I love to party.
I've just signed for Tottenham Hotspurs.

Why would Spurs want him?
They already have Modric and Krajiar (?).

Definitely leaving Stoke as soon as he can, weather he get's sold or buys out his contract himself. He's then gonna give us an exclusive interview where he will say things about Tony Pulis that Santa will hopefully not hear.

So where should he go? Is he needed in the PL? Personally I think Everton could need him. Cahill is gone and their strikers have been really shit. They also play football.

West Ham is out of the question as he received a medical there and then left for Monaco which West Ham didn't like. Sure they might go for him but I think neither party will be up for it.

Wolves were in for Gylfi a bit without actually making a bid. So they have some money on their hands. Personally I don't think he'll fancy them or Blackburn or Birmingham but he chose Stoke to begin with when he had other options so who knows.

How you heard all this?

He's overweight and past it from the little I've seen of him. I think he'll struggle at PL level.

Actually he's not overweight. He's trimmed and slim. This excuse Pulis uses is bullshit. Do you really think the fitness coaches at Stoke can't get a man fit in 4 months? Do you really think that?
