EFL Trophy 2023/24

Mainoo still on, no way he will play tomorrow. really disappointed
Why would he play tomorrow? Has he even started for us against a prem side?
Absolutely no reason why he couldn't have played 45 mins tomorrow night.
Of course there is, he's coming back from injury and it's better to get more minutes at a lower intensity.

He already has got minutes at a lower intensity. Some people would wrap these youngsters in cotton wool until they are 30.

God forbid we err on the side of caution with players returning from long term injury. Very weird thing to complain about when the player we miss most of all right now is absent because we did the exact opposite of what you’re complaining about here.

I'm not talking about giving him 90 mins in his first game back from injury. Mainoo played 45 mins last week in the UEFA Youth League. It is not unreasonable to have wanted to see him play for a half tomorrow.

Newcastle United plays high intensity, very physical game. Also considering the rival history between two clubs, it’s high octane game. Really not a good game to drift in Mainoo who is still in process to build match fitness after sidelined for so long.
