EFL Cup Final 2025 | Newcastle 2-1 Liverpool FT

You don’t see it often like that, just a towering jump running onto it like that. Very pleasing on the eye
Maybe I'm seeing it a bit different to everyone else. It was a good header but made so fecking easy by the defending.

I don't know how Dan Burn has generated so much power and accuracy on a header from almost the edge of the box. Definitely beyond the penalty spot. Incredible goal - what a week for him so far.
his receding hairline gives him extra forehead, which helps generate extra power.

However you see the defending or lack thereof, that's a great header right into the corner with pace and power headed from the edge of the box. Keeper had no chance.

Arsenal may be sitting up and taking notice of these recent performances. Their title hopes hang by a thread, but it could all still unravel for Liverpool. Would be glorious.
15 points clear. Arsenal aren’t up to it. Even Man City 18/19 would struggle from here.

In the long term with Salah, VVD etc getting older and potentially leaving they may have a period of real transition.

Arsenal aren’t performing like a side that can win every game between now and the end of the season, and they would have to to win it from here.

Four wins from nine puts us on 82. Arsenal can only finish on 85.

I’m already preparing for a bit of a drop off next season. The rebuild under Slot will start in this summer.

Let a guy have his fantasies.

If we completely ignore the sportswashing, it would be nice for Newcastle to win something. Unfortunately fans can’t pick owners. I know a few Newcastle fans and they’re all top blokes.

Great header by Dan Burn.

I will take relegation if it means Liverpool lose every remaining game of the season.
I honestly think if they threw the league away from this position, I could genuinely die laughing. It would be 2014 on steroids.

The Liverpool cup final tactic in the last 10 years or so seemed to be make the game as shit and boring as possible, don't concede and then try and nick a late winner or just win on pens.

It's rare they concede in a cup final, a domestic cup final anyway. They'll have to come out and attack now.

I was gonna say this before the match. I think Trent is hugely important for Liverpool. A lot of their play comes through him. Lack of creativity without him. So I think they do miss him despite his defensive frailties.

I’ve been watching Liverpool since the late 90’s and we never play well in finals. Even when we played a championship side twice in League Cup finals in 2001 (Birmingham) and 2012 (Cardiff), we needed penalties.

Meanwhile sides like United, Arsenal, City and Chelsea win comfortably.

Stinker after stinker from him since coming back from injury. Might go in the summer.
He’s after falling off a cliff, productivity-wise.

As you know, we’ve had quite a few discussions on him over the years but he almost invariably came up with something big when needed, despite being erratic. But that’s a world away from what he’s producing now.

You bastards turned up in Cardiff in 03, I seem to remember
