How reliable is this source? If they are close to signing his replacement, it means the deal for Camavinga is also close, regardless of whether it is to us or some other club. So its good that one way or another we will have a conclusion soon.

It's a Scandinavian source so they're reliable when it comes to news regarding Nordic clubs, like Midjtylland, but not sure if the United part is their own reporting or just piggy backing what French sources have been saying

Just read their article. They are referring to their own sources saying that Rennes have submitted a second bid after getting their first one rejected.

Also saying that Rennes CEO confirmed ongoing negotiations on their own TV-channel where he said: "We have had advanced talks with Jens Cajuste, we hope to get even further"

According to their sources, Cajuste himself seems keen on the move and says that Rennes the right club for him and this is is the right step in his career.

Hopefully he is in the know that Camavinga is leaving and he will get plenty of game time.

Camavinga is 100% leaving this summer according to Rennes themselves. They don’t want to let him walk for free, so a replacement doesn’t really mean much.

theres no better feeling that signing a wonderkid is there? feck i hope this happens.

I remember how excited I was when we signed Rooney and then Anderson...no other signing has come close to those two. Camavinga would be at that level for me. Never thought it would be possible...still find it hard to believe.

If the reports about him being our primary target in midfield is true, then I can't help but think we have identified the wrong player here. Being 18 years old is working in his favor. Locatelli could be available for a decent price, and it is frustrating that we aren't being linked to him.

current contract situation/price have likely played a part on how big a priority Camavinga is

His talent is above Locatelli.

Always who we aren't linked to is who we should be signing on here, its a bit exhausting.

Camavinga can’t be anywhere near the same level as Rooney on the excitement scale (C)? We bought him after a sensational Euro 2004. He looked like one of the best players around already.

it would be an exciting signing, but he’s coming off the back of a pretty poor season.

we knew Rooney would go straight into The team and make a difference straight away. Can’t say The same for Camavinga. He’s about potential, I would be as excited as I was with Anderson.

You wanna pass up on one of the brightest young talents in world football at a great price? Fair fecks to you but I know I'd love us to sign him.

People having been saying it and i agree. This lad, Sancho and Varane and its a very good window.

Yeah, the Rooney signing stands alone in terms of wonderkids for me, purely because I'd seen enough to know how good he could be. I know the hype about Camavinga so I'd be pumped if we sign him, but I've not watched much of him myself. Certainly not enough to put him up there with the Rooney signing.

Didn't the Anderson signing come about really quickly. Maybe I just didn't follow it enough, but did we as fans know much about him before signing him. He felt more like the martial signing.

Martial is quite a good comparison. Anderson was signed later the same day or the day after Nani if I remember. Nani was pretty hyped, whilst I’ll be honest I’d never heard of Anderson. Was only reading about him that got me excited. He wasn’t exactly the player I though he would be!

We played against Porto in some sort of pre season tournament and he played against us and took a shot from like 40 yards that absolutely rifled off Van de Sars post who had been left flat footed. The whole goal was shaking. This was my first memory of Anderson.
I think we got him the year after, I just can’t remember when he broke his leg.

I actually like this switch in emphasis for our transfer dealings. We've tried the Galactico-lite approach since Fergie retired and it hasn't really worked for us. Signing young talents at a bargain and nurturing them into world class players is precisely the shift we should be embracing, and more reminiscent of the old United way tbh. With Sancho, Greenwood, Rashford and Camavinga, we have a very solid core of young players that can easily mature into world class prospects within a few seasons.

Agree with you there! What happens if pogba leaves though? Do we need another player?

Even though his form fluctuates i am hoping Pogba signs a new contract. Not for ridiculous money though. I think he has his uses. But if he is looking for 1 million a week between wages and bonuses he can feck off. If anything his wage should be going down a bit because he has never matched the 90 million we paid for him.

This is the Anderson I thought we were getting. Video from 2007 when we signed him. Revel in all its old school low resolution glory.

I wouldn't rule VDB out for us. Pogba out Camavinga in is fine by me.
I see completely where you coming from, but I think that we need another in there as it is, i.e a Camavinga.

Then if Pogba goes we should replace him.

I do agree VDB should feature more this year.

Yes I think so . However the problem with Pogba is we never really found the right fit for him in our team ( well I dont think so anyway ) So the replacement certainly doesn't need to be a like for like. I would like Grealish myself. Interesting times ahead.

It would be a shame if he left as we are building a side that could get him playing more consistently. But I agree with you there, if he asks for more money than he frankly deserves, we should feck him off to the highest bidder.

Definately... I would guess at available options:

- Grealish
- Goretzka
- Saul Niguez
- Rice
The only one I see attainable from that list is Saul. Grealish and Rice would cost obscene amounts of money (100mill is what their respective clubs want :wenger:) which not even a Pogba transfer would be able to offset, and I'm almost certain Goretzka is using us to secure a bumper deal at Bayern.

Locatelli doesn't want to leave Italy, therefore doesn't want to join an English club whether that's United or someone else.

I didn't say anything of such. We are being linked to Varane, and I'm firmly behind bringing him in because I think we have identified the right player there. Personally think we could do so much better than Camavinga.

There are probably hundreds of bright young talents out there that could be gotten at a fair price if we identified them for the first team. Camavinga's age is working massively in his favor here, and I think we need a more established and better midfielder.

Locatelli seems to be this year's Weigl (amongst others whose names I don't even remember any more).
Camavinga could well be the Weigl, or he could be the new Van de Beek, or the new Amad, or the new Renato Sanches. Whatever is the reason why he is our primary target does not make him less likely to warm the bench while McTominay starts every game.

Definitely gotta sign that guy you hadn’t heard of more than once before last month who is being solely evaluated based on his Euro performance.

Locatelli is far from a bad player, but he’s not leaving Italy. Period. On top of that, basing your opinion on a player based on international performances is a disaster class

Yeah agreed. Not the same level of player as Rooney. But for me in terms of excitement it would be similar. That's what I meant to say.

Yeah Anderson was unexpected relatively speaking. We didn't and don't really sign hyped up south American potentials

Anderson and Nani were same days no?

I knew of him but didn't really think it was even an option for us.
